Stiva Posted July 17 Report Posted July 17 I think they have to do Mox/Darby before Mox leaves for prolonged time. Would be kind of interesting to see how Claudio would do as de-facto leader in Mox’s absence Quote
MoS Posted July 17 Report Posted July 17 Yeah, I think these are the finishing touches of the angle. They need to give Darby a big victory. It's such a refreshing feeling, watching AEW these days Quote
El-P Posted July 17 Author Report Posted July 17 This is obviously a set-up for Mox vs Darby, which needs to be done as an immediate follow-up. And it will probably be crazy. Swerve vs Okada ? I'm so there. Ditto Toni vs Athena. Awesome. The Young Bucks shit was perfect and funny as hell. HOWEVER DO NOT DO, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, A FUCKING CASH-IN GIMMICK WITH MJF. Don't do it at all, ever again. That Hangman promo at the start was something else. Love that venue. Complete bullshit pseudo-mauresque movie set look. Awesome. More of these funky small venues. Gotta do the swimming pool gimmick once. Club La Vela needs a shout-out. Quote

Not into keeping it going immediately after. Let Mox finally take that vacation he's been talking about since 2022. Neither Hanger or Mox should be in the ring the next show after that match. Some of the stuff teased going forward is interesting, though: Bucks in the Don Callis Family, Swerve vs Okada People need to stop repeating this. Mox took like a 3-4 month vacation last year. The Death Rider stuff was actually the result him taking a long time off and coming up with that shit. I'm all for him taking another long vacation tbh, but we gotta stop with this dumb ass meme that he's hasn't taking a holiday for 3 years Quote

The Thread Killer Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Having to watch Jon Moxley is like measuring the age of a dog. They say one year for a human is like seven “dog years.” Seeing Jon Moxley promos and matches are similar. Moxley might have returned a year ago, but it feels like it’s been seven years. So in order to balance this out, he should take a seven year hiatus. Quote
El-P Posted July 22 Author Report Posted July 22 Nah. Mox and the Deathriders are awesome. (although I do agree after Darby takes care of him, he needs to take off for a bit, but Claudio, Yuta & Marina needs to stick around. When is Pac coming back ?) Meanwhile, after showing up to wrestle at a tent show in Prater, Vienna, Mercedes Moné is going to Koswlow, Poland to wrestle in a hotel for the local promotion. That girl LOVES doing that shit. Gotta love it. Quote
Alucard Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 Moxley's return last year was end of August (the Dynamite after All In) where the Death Riders began with the "This is not your company anymore" promo. Quote
El-P Posted July 24 Author Report Posted July 24 Jetspeed vs FTR fucked. Every week I realize that there's a new match-up with Speedball I want to see in AEW. Ditto Claudio vs Mark. Gotta love how they take advantage of the cool setting. Hopefully this tag tournament ends the Hurt Business's reign. Babyface turn already ? Not the worst idea either. MJF don't need them, really. Don't threaten me with a cash in. I can't. Keep that WWE gimmick out of AEW. Athena vs Toni Storm needs to be a real match. The Forbidden Door build is tricky since it's the G1 so any NJPW involvement is gonna be late, unless it's guys like Despe and Takahashi (and they should be involved). Quote
Big Pete Posted Friday at 01:44 AM Report Posted Friday at 01:44 AM I enjoyed Hangman's presentation this week. I was worried that they were going to have him go 50/50 with Yuta, but it was a glorified squash where the emphasis was placed on the post-match. I'm not sure how Yuta will go post-Death Riders but it's a story beat they have to pull the trigger on at some point. Still, it's good to see Hangman booked strong and featured through out the show - if they're determined to make him 'the guy' double down on it. JetSpeed vs. FTR had it's moments. Speedball's big flurry of offence leading into the finish was the highlight and he's got that extra gear that's so necessary in modern wrestling. Still, thought the match was sloppy in places and they made some weird choices. I don't think you can accuse anyone on the AEW roster of being lazy when it comes to their in-ring (maybe in other aspects) but it seemed like Dax was having a hard time keeping up which was problematic because he seemed determined to be the ring general so certain spots looked out of step. The flat finish and the post-match overkill didn't help matters either. Quote
sek69 Posted Sunday at 12:25 AM Report Posted Sunday at 12:25 AM Dustin vs Fletcher is gonna bang, you just know he's going to bust his ass to put Kyle over. Quote
sek69 Posted Sunday at 12:26 AM Report Posted Sunday at 12:26 AM Also glad Juice seems to have realized shaving was a mistake. Quote
El-P Posted Sunday at 11:20 AM Author Report Posted Sunday at 11:20 AM Considering they could not say nothing, the "tribute" to Hogan on Collision was the closest thing to the "Regal pays tribute to Benoit", just a bunch of facts and a focus on the family going through very difficult times (poor Brooke is carrying a whole lot of bagage), zero about the actual person. Schiavone was the right man to do it, it came off tasteful. 10 hours ago, sek69 said: Also glad Juice seems to have realized shaving was a mistake. It still looked awfully low-rent (although funny, which was very much Juice-like in a way) with Colten's tights over his dull black attire. He needs to find the right balance. He was at his worst during the early "Rock Hard" Bullet Club version that pretty much killed his entire charisma. He surely doesn't need to be a complete clown, but the look he came up with for his comeback was all wrong. Tremendous match against Big Bill and Keith though (who need to be pushed more). Lee Moriarty also needs to be pushed more. I'm glad he went so long and so competitive with Dustin. Gotta love Ishii being around and part of the most random matches. This is quite poetic for a guy who basically had his formative years in WAR. Talking about guys who need to be pushed more (well, some wins would be a start) : AR Fox is right there. He's basically where Komander was now. "Whose Mom ?" "Nick's mom !" The mom based chants are never gonna get old. Alex Windsor already showing why she was absolutely not a favor hire. I've seen her a bit on RevPro and NJPW Strong before. I really want her against the heavy hitters like Stat or Aminata. Or Bayne. Glad she's used that running Ligerbomb now, which looks a hundred times better than that crappy F5. And love that Athena is finally on regular AEW TV alongside Billie. Ya know, Toni will need to lose eventually... Athena getting the women's belts and after a while going to feud against Mercedes for a gazillions belts would be so much fun. Meanwhile, Toni can have a personal oriented major feud. Sometimes, the B show is just more fun than the A show. Quote
Boss Rock Posted Sunday at 03:01 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:01 PM Kyle is absolutely winning on Thursday...right? He really needs to. Quote

I like Dustin as much as anyone, but yeah. Fletcher was supposed to win at All In. There's zero reason why he should not win against a 56 years old man when he's on the verge of being the next breakout main event star of the promotion. Dustin's win was a cool audible and feel-good moment for All In Texas. But it's time to get back on track. Hopefully with an interpromotional match for Forbidden Door ? (because thus far there isn't much talk about this aspect of the next PPV) Quote
Blehschmidt Posted Sunday at 07:52 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:52 PM They really killed Big Bill and Bryan Keith's momentum by not having them kick the shit out of Jericho before he disappeared. The crowd obviously wants to cheer them, especially Bill, and the pop would have been huge. But now the moment has passed. Guess we had to protect Jericho 🙄 Quote
El-P Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Author Report Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM He's still able to get over, as showed on Collision, so everything is not yet lost. But they absolutely need to kick him to the curb in spectacular fashion. The issue being, it means Jericho has to come back... (which, of course he would have anyway) Quote
El-P Posted Monday at 07:14 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 07:14 PM Title says it all : Gotta love the wrestling nerd in her that makes her fly to some independent show in Poland because she wants to have a match with an indie worker she likes. (and take another belt in the process of course. Ultimo Dragon would be proud) Quote
Timbo Slice Posted Tuesday at 05:28 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:28 PM Dustin knows how to make a young guy, and it’s going to be a Dustin bloodletting. Kyle as young stud heel champ is going to be amazing, too. He should get a long reign and tear up the under card, especially on PPVs. He is already such a complete package, and when he eventually turns on Callis way down the line (when necessary if they need a face turn), it’ll be huge. I get why they won’t wait until All Out because Tony had plans for Kyle right away, but even though he won’t have the big Moment, it won’t matter after the first big title defense. Love how things are setting up going forward. Quote
