  1. Yeah that segment was even worse than I thought it would be. Starks has been money lately but he did indeed seem “off”there. Also…probably dumb to have a guy issue a challenge for a match next week that was already announced earlier in the show. Excalibur had to try and explain it.
  2. I thought the match was pretty damn good, all things considered. It was noteworthy how popular Takeshita is with the AEW fans too. They might be onto something with him. Unless Tony Khan screws it up. Which he probably will. One roster can only handle so much “can’t miss” young talent when they only have 3 hours of TV a week. But I hope I’m wrong, I kind of like Takeshita.
  3. I just saw that they have Wille Mack losing to Brian Fucking Cage on Dark this week. That’s bizarre and kind of depressing. I used to think Mack had a ton of potential and I assumed Impact did as well when they poached him from the NWA right before Power debuted. Now he’s jobbing on a YouTube show. Sad.
  4. I’m having a really hard time getting into this show, I am really bummed out about Jeff Beck passing away.
  5. Yeah I’m as a big an MJF fan as you’re going to find, but that was pretty weak to be honest. That actually reminded me of Miz, and that’s not a compliment.
  6. I read an interesting clip from an interview with Konnan today. As full of crap as he is capable of being, there are times when I believe him. It’s pretty much a fact that he either works as a manager/booking agent/advisor for a lot of the Lucha guys who end up signing with companies in the U.S. He was talking about Dragon Lee and his decision to sign with NXT over AEW. Konnan basically said that they looked at the talent in AEW and the talent in NXT/WWE and decided that he would stand out in NXT, whereas in AEW he’d probably just vanish into the ether and rarely end up on TV. Supposedly the reason for the fallout between Santana and Ortiz was the fact that they were never getting used. Santana wanted to leave and go elsewhere but Ortiz was content to collect a massive paycheque and appear on Dark or in a segment on Dynamite standing behind Jericho. I have to wonder if the guys like Santana and Dragon Lee who don’t just want to get paid…they actually want to work, if people like that are going to start having second thoughts about AEW being the promised land when they see how massive and bloated the roster is, how it is always growing and never seems to shrink, if that will affect other people’s decision when it comes time to decide where to go. Then again…Jeff Jarrett is supposedly on the brink of booking AEW house shows, ROH TV (such as it is) will be starting soon, and most importantly of all, now that Vince is back and all the uncertainty that entails, maybe AEW is still the safer call. I just think it’s noteworthy that Dragon Lee chose NXT specifically because he wanted to stand out and not get lost in the massive crowd in AEW.
  7. I was going to say…that announcement makes me want to watch the show less, not more.
  8. Grunge might not always have been great, but at least it consigned the scourge that was “Hair Metal” to the dustbin, so for that if nothing else, I am eternally grateful. No matter what you think of the popular music from the early to mid 90’s, we definitely traded up. And then…”Nu Metal” happened.
  9. Somebody really needs to take her Twitter privileges away. Even if this was supposedly intended to further the angle, using phrases like “work” in this Tweet just makes her look like…yeah. But hey, at least she censored herself and didn’t fully type out the word “shit.”
  10. Watching a Bray Wyatt match while drinking Mountain Dew?
  11. Sounds like Dwayne tried to make a power play and got denied. I am interested to see what the new long term plans are for DC when Gunn unveils them this month. A bit of continuity would be nice. A lot of people are expecting a total DC Universe reboot, and apparently Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam didn’t fit into those plans. Based on how the movie did, I can’t say I blame them.
  12. Interesting article… https://variety.com/vip/why-vince-mcmahon-is-misjudging-a-potential-wwe-sale-1235480848/
  13. I hope for his sake, Regal got himself a no cut contract like the one Heyman insisted on.
  14. I am seeing two different takes about this situation. The first seems to be that Vince thinks if he can’t run WWE he is just going to come back as chairman, and force a sale. Basically he’d rather not own it if he can’t run it. In this scenario, he apparently would have no involvement in creative or anything else, he just wants to stack the board, negotiate the next rights deal in order to maximize the stock price and then immediately force a sale. The next scenario is that this is just his way of forcing his way back into control of the entire company and sooner rather than later, he will be back in control of everything, including creative. Some people are speculating this means he will reverse all of the changes that have been made over the last four months. I’m not sure which scenario is closer to the truth and I don’t know if there is any reliable reporting out there yet about which scenario is likely to happen?
  15. You don’t like MJF as much as I do, so screw you, I ain’t giving you shit
  16. I don’t think you’re a troll at all. As far as I’m concerned you’re an authentic PWO Good Bubba (tm) but I think only @KawadaSmile is allowed to officially make that designation. In fact, I might lose my official status just for trying to calling you that without authorization.
  17. Sorry if I came off like a dick. Due to my personal and professional history, I get a little heated when the topic of charity and donations comes up.
  18. Exactly. Those guys have awesome chemistry. Reminds me of Abyss and AJ in TNA. Every time they faced off, it was watchable no matter what the stakes were. Hell, screw the damn Elite, give me those guys in a Best of 7.
  19. I was going to post that exact same thing. That guy has nothing but upside. He should be and hopefully will be a Main Event level player, and hopefully sooner rather than later. His ring skills are consistently solid to sometimes excellent, but more importantly he just has that mythical “It Factor.” Charisma and personality to spare. If TK has half a brain, he will push the hell out of this guy. It absolutely baffles me that WWE had him, and released him.
  20. As a team to put the champs over on free TV, I don’t have a huge problem with Jarrett and Lethal. Jarrett is a part-time guy who works in the office, and I assume Lethal will be heading to ROH once TV starts for them. It’s not like they are getting a main event push or title shot on PPV or something.
  21. Yeah this Page/Moxley deal doesn’t do a lot for me either, to be honest. I’ve never been a Moxley fan and Page just doesn’t connect with me anymore. On an unrelated note…Jeff Jarrett is in ridiculous physical condition for a guy his age. He and Billy Gunn defy time.
  22. Fair play to Jericho for losing to Starks clean there. I’m not going to bitch about the rest of stuff that went down until I see where the rest of this angle goes. If this actually means that Starks becomes a bigger name in the end, then I am all for it. I do have a question though. How has Jake Hager been around as long as he has, yet still be so bad at the basics? That spot where he just stood there like a doofus waiting for Andretti to hit him with the chair, and then he actually looks over his shoulder to make sure it’s coming…looked pretty bush league.
  23. That’s exactly what I was thinking. Why use Red and Blue, when those colours are associated with the competition? Not a huge deal in the bigger picture, but still seems like an odd choice.
  24. I never really took it seriously in the sense that I thought there was much legitimacy to it. It was more the Karen Jarrett aspect of this that I found humorous and noteworthy. If I was a betting man, I'd bet that Tony Khan booked the angle and of course they agreed that Jarrett and Lethal would make the challenge, The Acclaimed would ignore them, Jarrett and Lethal would attack them, Caster would do his video, the match would happen, and we'd all move on. What I am betting happened is that Karen Jarrett didn't much care for the joke about Jeff stealing her from Kurt, and Kurt clearly didn't care for his name getting brought up in the angle. I don't for a minute believe Tony Khan wanted Karen Jarrett to start rehashing all of Kurt Angle's past marital misdeeds and naming names on Twitter, of all things. I also don't see how JJ going on his podcast and dragging Dixie Carter and Vince Russo's names into the mess helped serve this story at all. You have to know that as soon as Jarrett brought up Russo's name, old VinnieRu started doing the dance of joy. Now he's going to start trumpeting about how he will tell us all his side of the story and what REALLY HAPPENED, BRO. Behind his paywall, of course. I just think this is pretty much a standard Pro Wrestling angle that started to go off the rails a wee bit somewhere, probably thanks to Karen Jarrett.
