  1. You have first choice, go with Kris's idea!
  2. So then people who signed up can stake their claim now? If that's the case I'll go ahead and officially claim Southwest unless one of the 7 people in front of me take it.
  3. It could still get there, the draft is still a month off. How do we actually decide who gets what territory though? I mean I suspect more than one person is going to want JCP, Memphis, WWF or AWA. It's kind of why I have my sights set on Southwest because I don't really want to fight over a popular territory. If it was REALLY contentious I suppose a random drawing might be in order.
  4. If we don't have enough people to run EVERY territory we could still do some kind of dispersal draft type thing where we make up the rosters of the territories that don't have anyone running them out of the people who didn't get drafted after everyone hit an agreed upon max roster size.
  5. I don't know I think there should definitely be a max. A roster of 40 guys is kind of unrealistic for most territories and anything over that is really excessive.
  6. I wouldn't think we would need to use draft picks or roster spaces for enhancement guys who will really only be on TV and not on house shows. I doubt anyone else has plans to use Southwest jobbers like Juan Reynosa or Tug Taylor (although he might be too shitty for me to keep around even for jobs) I guess if a lot of people want to use a more famous jobber like Mike Jackson maybe that might cause a problem. As an aside, I know Southwest wasn't an NWA territory so I don't plan on booking the NWA World Champ. I would try and work out an arrangement to use the AWA champ because at times Southwest would bring Bockwinkel in as the World Champion.
  7. I think this is definitely worth watching as it is one of the most FUN trios matches I've ever seen. El Dandy & Satanico bring the fire against each other, Rayo does his usual thing & Kamala in Mexico is so freaking cool. He does so many things you'd never see him do anywhere else like disingenuous handshake attempts, bouncing around the ring in a boxer's stance, mocking his opponent's usual taunt, actually understanding tag rules. If you don't have fun watching this match then I don't know what to tell you.
  8. I just watched the Atlantis/Rayo de Jalisco Jr./El Dandy vs. Satanico/Emilio Charles Jr./Gigante Kamala, CMLL 3/8/91 match and yea that was the most fun I have had watching wrestling in a long time.

    El Dandy

Atlantis/Rayo de Jalisco Jr./El Dandy v. El Satanico/Emilio Charles Jr./Gigante Kamala (3.8.91) I couldn't resist seeing Kamala in Mexico teaming with Satanico. I wonder how far he's going to go with the "savage who doesn't understand tag rules" in this trios format. Atlantis is selling the fuck out of Kamala's chops and headbutts and that combined with the size difference is making him look like a real monster here. Kamala is talking a lot of strategy with his partners so I suppose that Spanish must be really close to his native language as he never was able to get English down at all. Oh my god Kamala doing the disingenuous handshake attempt makes this totally worth the watch even if does not fit him AT ALL. And now he is mocking Rayo and I like this version of Kamala. Damn it Dandy you should know better than to fall for Satanico's handshake by now. Dandy & Satanico are really bringing the heat again each other in their sequences, I'm gonna have to dig into their feud soon. Oh man Rayo actually shakes Kamala's hand after a whole lot of "should I shouldn't I?" with the crowd and that works about as well as you'd expect. Atlantis comes in and stomps Kamala's feet and then dropkicks him and Kamala bumps and stooges for a guy half his size very well. The babyfaces win the first fall as Dandy & Atlantis get some fancy cradles on Satanico & Emilio Charles and Rayo keeps Kamala from breaking it up. I still don't really understand that Rayo thing where he charges at his opponents and is doing some kind of leg trip thing that they all run from but it's always really over and Kamala mocking it was hilarious so I guess I can't complain. He keeps trying to psych out Charles with it and Charles just uncorks a nasty right hand that takes him down. Holy shit Kamala wants to box El Dandy and watching Kamala bounce around the ring in a boxer's stance is something else. They do some fun cat and mouse stuff and Dandy gets the better of this exchange as keeps catching Kamala with punches and running away. Kamala sells the hell out of the punches too. Heels end up taking over the ring and winning the second fall after Dandy eats an Alabama Slam out of the corner and gets pinned and Satanico makes Atlantis submit. Kamala splashes them both between falls then Charles & Satanico pick the bones. The babyfaces try and mount a comeback in the 3rd fall as Dandy tosses Charles into the post. Satanico tries to claim a foul to get out of an ass kicking but the refs aren't buying it. We wind up with all 3 babyfaces working together to cut down the tree that is Kamala before he finally goes down. His partners help get rid of Dandy & Atlantis though and Kamala ends up slamming Rayo and splashing him to get the win for his team. It kind of ran out of steam in the 3rd fall but this was SO. MUCH. FUN.
  10. This is based solely on one match so far but right now Kamala wrestling in Mexico is perfection. Watching him do un-Kamala like things like disingenuous handshakes, mocking his opponent, and actually understanding tag rules has been REALLY fun. Atlantis/Rayo de Jalisco Jr./El Dandy v. 11. War is war. I will spare no one in my quest to light the box office on fire with Steve Regal vs. Dory Jr.
  12. I'm planning on running babyface Mr. Electricity Steve Regal vs. heel Dory Funk Jr. as my top feud just to let you know what kind of exciting matches I plan to feature. Just don't try to swoop in and steal Regal from me.
  13. EDIT: Wrong thread.

I see I'm not alone in thinking people went way overboard in praising Flair/Big Show.
  15. Are we going to attempt to compile a list of tag teams that were active on January 1st, 1983 that are available to be drafted together? That should keep people from arguing during draft time over what is and isn't an "official" team.

    El Dandy

Maybe it's just the trios I have been watching lately where he's really just been a background player as the trios have been building other feuds that aren't Dandy's. I've been writing about the stuff I've seen him in lately in the Microscope. I'm not writing him off or anything but I just can't remember anything I've seen him in yet where I thought "wow El Dandy was great in that" Part of may be that El Dandy is seen as one of the "work rate" Lucha guys and I generally find myself more drawn to the guys with a lot of charisma and personality like Satanico or even Mocho Cota (who I am not saying is better than Dandy)

They were legitimately a good tag team. I loved their series with Shannon Moore & Jimmy Yang.

    El Dandy

El Dandy is a guy who gets pimped as a lucha great but I generally find myself being more impressed by the other guys in whatever trio or tag I'm watching him in. I saw all his matches from the 80s set and he wasn't one of the big "revelations" of that set to me (as a total lucha newcomer) the way that Satanico, Sangre Chicana, Perro Aguayo, or El Hijo del Santo were. I haven't really gotten too deep into his 90s work and I know he's supposed to have a big year in 1990 so I'm not totally done evaluating him but I'm just not seeing him as one of the top tier luchadores right now.

This makes me imagine Vince walking through backstage and seeing Colin Delaney for the first time. "Hey pal, where's your parents at? You shouldn't be walking around back here by yourself."
  22. Just caught this on youtube. That looks smaller than the standard size WWF ring. Tombstone on the escalator was pretty cool.

I tried to tell you that you didn't want to start at the beginning.
