  1. WCW's boy band 3 Count. Everything about it. The goofy music videos. The stupidly catchy song. Tank Abbott dancing. I think it might be WCW's best original gimmick.
  2. People who list the number of moves in a match like that has any bearing on the quality. Just had an argument with someone on another board because they said Lesnar/Reigns wasn't even a 'real match" because it "only had 4 moves." Same principle applies when assessing the quality of a wrestler based on how big their "moveset" is.
  3. I just don't think Arn had the size to be a good draw against Hogan. Hogan had beaten so many monsters by then that it would have felt really weird for him to suddenly end up in a feud against Arn especially when Arn was only a tag guy in the WWF.

  5. I guess if you were looking for an opponent to draw worse against Hogan than Hennig did that would have worked out pretty good.
  6. Did Kevin Sullivan's physique start to change before or after he turned heel in Florida? I know from the very early 80s footage I saw of him in Memphis he has a real jacked up bodybuilder look that is gone by the time I have any footage of him as a heel in Florida. So I'm mostly wondering if he stopped working out as kind of a "living the gimmick" type thing.
  7. Well yea but that's because they can get big money from advertisers. Wrestling can't. Vince McMahon thought he was going to get sports money when he went through his latest negotiation with USA and it didn't work out for him. Definitely won't work out for an unknown commodity or even one with a decent history of getting over a million people to watch their show every week like TNA.
  8. Something to keep in mind about Norvell Austin is that he's near the end of his career in 1986 and had been wrestling for somewhere around 20 years.
  9. Managed to come across a "Mr Electricity" Steve Regal vs. Victor Rivera match from Prime Time on the live feed this morning. With their pick of essentially every wrestler I have no idea why WWF ever employed that scrub. Gorilla Monsoon did amuse me though by saying after the match that "Mr. Electricity didn't show me an awful lot of voltage." Also using search to watch some Roman Reigns matches over the past year of TV and I think it would be a cool Network feature if they started including full matches that get interrupted by commercial on the replays.
  10. I just watched all the 1986 CCW I could find last year. You might be interested in checking out my thread while you're going through the year: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/25678-southeasterncontinental-championship-wrestling/

    Rusev

He still has had one of the better first year pushes of anyone outside of The Shield in the last 5 years or so. Assuming they don't totally kill him off when they split him from Lana I think he'll be ok in the long run. I still think he'll eventually be a big Roman Reigns rival once Roman gets the belt.
  12. I saw the PWInsider report but I don't really buy it. It wouldn't make any sense for them not to announce it was his shoulder.
  13. They've never really talked about it being a neck issue. Even the original injury was always his shoulder and the problem with him not being able to return was nerve related. He received the same treatment that Carson Palmer did (and his injury was never referred to as a neck injury) and then that nerve woke up and he was able to return. I get where people would conflate "nerve issue" with neck problems but I don't think it's ever been the case.
  14. They were incredibly vague about what Daniel Bryan's injury is and his "I may not be able to wrestle again" line really just makes me believe even more that he is out right now due to concussions. Which could very well mean that his career is over. There is no surgery he can get to fix this.
  15. I guess you COULD have wrestling without jingoism but it wouldn't be as fun.
  16. That's what I meant. I know that Dory wrestled Fritz in Dallas also but I was mostly talking about during the time period where they could have come in to work the Von Erich boys.
  17. I'm more inclined to think that The Funks never worked Dallas due to timing issues/ability to make more money elsewhere than anything else. I know the story on the Von Erichs working heel in Amarillo was that Fritz put a stop to it pretty quickly because he didn't want them working heel so close to Dallas.
  18. I think it's more hips than knees with Foley.

    Jaaawn Cena

I'm mostly amused at how everyone is taking it easy on Sami Zayn injuring himself in the most ridiculous way possible when if it was someone like Big Show or Kane people would be frothing at the mouth about how they are terrible and need to retire. People are STILL making jokes about Kevin Nash tearing his quad by walking across the ring.

I have been saying this since the Royal Rumble which to me was the moment he officially killed it. It's stupid too because he HAD a new move he could have transitioned to with the springboard stunner thing but he just totally wasted it by not getting a finish off it the first time he used it.
  21. In ring I think Matt Hardy is better. Including promos & character work I think Jericho has him beat as an overall performer.
  22. Boy Tony vs. Tracy Smothers is one of my favorite goofy Memphis midcard feuds.
  23. The fight is over now and everyone will be on to the next thing to be outraged about on twitter within a day or two. I also expect Beadle's time as a non-fan to last as long as the average message board poster who quits watching forever!~ because his favorite wrestler lost.

    Matt Hardy

I had never seen the Cage match before since 2004-2005 is kind of my WWE blind spot. I thought it was really good, not sure I would go as far as to say it's one of the best in the history of the promotion but I do think it's the best WWE cage match I've ever seen. It is also good evidence that it IS still possible to do a good Cage match since if you take out Edge's blade job they could have done anything from this match in today's environment. I think anyone that plans to have Christian on their list definitely needs to give Matt Hardy serious consideration. Personally I would put Matt over Christian but they do have very similar careers. Never really broke out of the upper midcard but they both had long stretches where you could argue they were the best weekly TV wrestler in the world. I don't really think there is anything that Christian does better than Matt except cut promos.
  25. I think an admin needs to should make it so that JVK can't even see jdw's posts any more.
