  1. Unlike many matches, where the chain wrestling serves as a feeling-out process and comes across as more cooperative than competitive, everything here feels like a struggle. Robinson shows his stuff on a couple of exchanges. The first 10 minutes are largely back and forth but that changes when Dory starts unleashing his trademark forearm uppercuts. Robinson eats several of them, and sells each a little more than the last, emphasizing the steady attrition of weathering Funk’s blows. Both men quicken the pace at the “five minutes remaining” call from the ring announcer (Boyd Pierce, I think?) but with subsequent time calls at three minutes, two, and so on, it doesn’t take a mastermind to anticipate this one is going the distance. Should be expected since there was never a decisive winner in any of the singles matches between these two. This is a good, solid match — nothing more, nothing less. You can read my full review of this match, one of the entries in my 365 Wrestling project.
  2. This match occurs in the context of two individual feuds: the long-running rivalry between II and Superstar, and the issue between Idol and Sullivan. The action here is fairly standard, but I found this worth watching because of the caliber of the wrestlers taking part in the match, the chance to get a good luck at Sullivan as a clean-cut fan favorite, and as a highly effective teaser for two singles matches involving these four men coming at the next show at the Omni. It would be a nice addition to the "other matches" queue if someone was putting together a compilation on the Georgia territory before it got assimilated into Jim Crockett Promotions. You can check out my full review for this match here, as part of the 365 Wrestling project.
  3. This match is the opener in a tournament to crown the new British Welterweight Champion. The tournament took its time to play out, starting here and not ending until late June. The rounds system allows these two to keep up a brisk pace and on occasion when one man is stringing together a combination on offensive maneuvers the end result holds its own against the majority of today’s fast-paced, super-athletic style, even if the moves being used would be considered basic by modern standards. And what is done here looks good. And at less than 12 minutes, I would recommend this match as an introduction to the format of European rounds if you are unfamiliar with this style. You can find my full review of this match here as part of the 365 Wrestling project.
  4. also Jack Victory should be on PCW roster not mine
  5. Drop Steve Doll
  6. Now THAT is how you debut a new heel faction. It's like the Dangerous Alliance, except more scuzzy. I'm here for it.
  7. This is the only time these two teams wrestled each other and it happened as part of a cross-promotional event put on by the AWA, All Japan, and what was left of Central States Wrestling in front of a very sparse crowd in Kansas City. Given the historical significance of the match and the track record of the two teams, these four deserved better. There’s nothing amazing about this match but it’s still a very good tag match that is worth watching for nothing other than the novelty of the matchup. It’s definitely worth watching for current wrestlers, for some of the nuances and little things these four bring to the table to shake up the standard tag formula of shine/heat/hot tag/finish. You can check out more of my thoughts on this match in Day 33 of my 365 Wrestling project.

  11. What a wonderful homage to classic Southern style tag wrestling with a modern twist and several tweaks on the traditional tag formula. I can't remember another match where the Hardys were the heels in a tag setting. Check out my full review, part of the 365 Wrestling project.
  12. Sitting here on a Saturday trying to catch up on everyone's stuff and I really enjoy the overall look, feel, and serious tone of this promotion. You're definitely doing right by the ladies!
  13. I like how the recaps and results have that feel of a legit NJPW show from the mid 80s
  14. This was a lot of fun and it's no surprise that Buddy Rose was at the center of the three biggest highlights of the match. The second fall definitely lost some steam but it recovered nicely there at the end. Check out my full review of this match as part of my 365 Wrestling project.

  18. Just caught up on all your December TV and I am digging it and ready for this Christmas supercard. Landel and Olympia feels like the start of a longer, ongoing, extended main-event feud. Hopefully I am right. All the stuff with Fergie, Slick, and Bad News is gold and my favorite part of these run of shows...
