First time I saw Cena - Rock II in full was tonight...mad, it wasnt very good at all...VERY by the book and boring as hell.. Couple nice spots harkening back to last year...but 0 story told or any sense of one man doing anything of purpose to the other before the finisher fest began..awful.

Thought I'd give it a shot....oh well...thanks for the help...I will continue to thoroughly enjoy the old school and some of the newer NWA matches...

Dylan / All, Since reading this thread again, I have become interested in watching NEW wrestling... I Dont wanna watch WWE or TNA as I dont like the product...what promotions or wrestlers / matches woudl recommend I start watching regularly to get my interests in new wrestling going again? I am a fan more of the "old school" type wrestling (Bockwinkel vs. Hennig 60-min is my GOAT for example), and love feuds that move along and progress into a good climax, with some good stips and some violence where warranted, if the feud really called for it, but not violence for violence, just to do it...I love blood when its needed during a feud to really build heat, and think it 100% enhances a match and takes it to that next level... Not a huge fan of spotfests with the smaller guys bouncing all around...no disrespect to them, just not my thing as I dont find it believable at all...a big spot here and there (diving off something) is fine, but not the whole match based around one upping the other with no real back story being told... So help me out...what would you recommend?

I more so meant the promotion profiting...I wouldnt guess the actual wrestlers were getting much at all from everything I have seen and read.... Curious if certain regions of the US have more profitable indy promotions than others?
-
Is this basicallly a solid number everywhere (around the US?) Do they profit from a couple hundred people?

Married with kids? When do you have time to watch?
Smack2k replied to Smack2k's topic in Pro Wrestling
Interesting so far...with so many differences....really good stuff....Dylan...my god dude, you NEVER sleep from the looks of the posts and times on here....I would LOVE to be able to sleep only a few hours and then do some cool shit overnight while others slept! Will, how about you? With all the work you do for comps and projects, how do you fit it all in? -
[1992-02-08-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Randy Savage vs Jake Roberts
Smack2k replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
Anyone else think that this should have been a different "gimmick" type match to blow off a feud that was as personal as this? I always thought they should have done this at the Rumble in a No DQ, No Holds Barred or maybe even a cage (but the blue cage wouldnt have worked...). I dont know, just sucked this ended it....- 18 replies

Why? Cause Brody would have to show how tough he is and try to rough up the other guy so he couldnt go the distance? That would be my guess! God forbid the people get a good show or a great match...gotta keep that look up Brody....cant risk that Japan "look / aura" stuff or Puerto Rico "look" stuff or whatever the fuck else "look" or "aura" it was...bleh.. I am sorry, but trying to take down a whoel territory cause you're mad about someone else's pay is bush league as fuck....who gives a shit about everyone else's jobs right? Yeah, that is a "great guy" to me.

I imagine some of you around here are married and have small kid(s), as do I. So when do you find time to watch so much wrestling? Like getting teh DVDVR sets together, the full reviews of multiple shows in a week, etc?? Just curious as I am definatley doing something wrong as I have like 0 time during the week to watch and only a few hours on Fri and Sat night to fit some in...leaving me with this board to enjoy the sport at least until my son gets a little older.... Just curious as my son will not leave me alone for 2-3 hours to watch a show at ANY point when he is awake!!! Am I alone in this?
-
Dylan, I finally got to read this whole thread over the last week and wanted to thank you for a couple things: 1. The NWA Gathering of Champions Link - I am a big NWA fan and wanted to see the Walker - Wayne Cage match as well as the NWA Title match.. 2. The New Japan IPPV info - Again, big NWA fan, and cool to see the NWA Title once again defended... I really got back into the NWA with Pearce's run since about 2010, and not much else, but have stuck around since they left as some of their main guys I really enjoy.. So a great fuckin thanks!

Across Indy Wrestling in the USA...what is considered a good crowd for a show these days? Is it a couple hundred? More? Less? Thanks!
-
Let me be the first to say...that this is really, really good idea....I look forward to reading these all the way through...and I like the first week. The real NXT when it happened was so bad I stopped watching it......

TITO ORTIZ!!! TNA's #August1Warning Mystery Man...SMH (Video)
Smack2k replied to Duo Dreamer's topic in Pro Wrestling
They did this in 2005 with Ortiz...he ref'd the Styles vs. Jarrett NWA World Title Match at Hard Justice '05 where AJ won and became the "man", for about 4 weeks anyway.... -
What didnt you like about it? Just curious... My love of this and all of it is really shaded as I LOVED the AWA growing up from 85-89 so most of it, even if most will consider not good, I will still love...just due to memories and fondness....

Ohtani... Can you recommend some good Kendo matches?? I'd like to watch him wrestle as I have read a lot about him and seen his unmasking and documentary stuff... Would liek to know if the cover matches the drapes in terms of quality? -
Dylan, Have you seen anymore of the IWC shows from PA? Its a good promotion that has some decent stuff... The Super Indy Tournaments are good every year.... I know the owner as we used to work together...after Norm Connors sold it to him... Just wanted to know if you've seen any or if you like it?

Shocked NO one has mentioned how Adonis almost cut Curt's finger off when he used that fuckin butcher knife to cut his strap off at the end of the Wahoo / Curt Strap match...its nasty if you watch closely.. Curt's hand is bleeding like crazy afterward...you can see him holding it and clearly needing attention...
-
Couldnt agree more with this...of everything I saw in '88...this was the best surprise of them all...I thought it would be good...but it was REAL good... Its a shame the AWA was where it was money wise and such...for a period in '87 into '88, their talent wasnt half bad...but I see the AWA with rose colored glasses as its what made me a HUGE fan.. Orton Adonis Hennig Slater Badd Company Gagne Wahoo DJ Peterson Soviets (Zuchov and Ustinov - I liked them) Lawler R 'N R (I know they didnt stay long, but could have if things were different) Nasty Boys Kevin Kelly and Nick Kiniski Madusa Not terrible in my opinion....
-
Jerry, I am surprised you rated that Badd Company / Rockers match so low....I think both of their TV matches vs. Rockers in '88 were superb matches...really, not far down from their Rumble '91 match...
-
You guys mentioned the Blood Sweat and Muscle tape...is that Nikita / Luger match shown in full there? Been trying to find the full match for a while...you can come close with the NWA Pro showing and the Bash 87 tape, but still not 100% full...
-
Was gonna say some things honestly..but dont wanna break up the joke parts....maybe next time he comes up.. Bottomline I agree with Will 100% about Brody..
-
NICE!!! Keep pumping these out like this!!! Love the Lex Luger topic....nice way to look into him.... More territory talk like Texas and Montreal as well...you guys KILLED on those two shows. Montreal is the best you've done...maybe due to LaPrade, you can hear how much he loves Montreal Wrestling in his voice...
-
Off topic but HOLY SHIT did Jesse look like Randy Savage in that video.....
-
OK, I am 100% out of the loop here about this... Is this all acting or are these all real relationships taking place outside the WWE storylines and in their real lives? I am not watching either way, but just curious....
