Tony Atlas vs Ivan Koloff This was a real solid bout. Ivan was great at calling this match. He did a great job at highlighting Atlas strengths. He put over his strength. He put over his speed. He highlighted Tony's great dropkick, I loved the finish of the 1st 2 falls. I loved the post match brawl.I dug the best chant ever of You can't beat Texas. I hated Ivan's over reliance on the nerve hold. Overall, good stuff 2 3/4*. Got some commercials. I loved the break check commercial. They also had a Houston 100 commercial which is something I donated to instead of getting a speeding ticket in the 90's.

http://placetobenation.com/this-week-in-wrestling-3616/ Fall 1 Pete and Johnny check out Gino Hernandez vs Sicodelico from nwaclassics.com. Then we check out the current ROH TV. Is Punisher Martinez a future ROH star? Is Lio Rush? Find out what the guys think. Fall 2 Pete and Timothy check out Lucha Underground. Then the ROH ppv, and Progress Ch 26. They both decide on a MOTYC that came out of nowhere. Fall 3 Pete and Johnny look at another well booked NXT. Johnny explains what the modern babyface style classic is. Edge and Christian episode 2 breakdown. Pete shares his conspiracy on the show. Then the boys look at Raw, and watch them book the beatdown of a babyface just like Pete described the previous week with how they should have done with Reigns. Johnny criticizes WWE and the world goes wild. Does Johnny handle Pete being 100% right good or bad. Listen and find out. 3/4/16 CMLL Dragon Lee vs Kamaitachi 4 1/2* Man these guys did it again. Another incredible match between the 2. So many amazing moves. My favorite part of the match for me was when Dragon Lee hooked on the Crossface. Then he went for the arm lock. This damaged Kamaiachi's shoulder. Then he delivered the most violent German on the floor. Back to the ring Dragon Lee hits a rana to the floor further damaging the shoulder. Then to further hurt the shoulder he does a top rope dbl stomp to the shoulder. All of this plays into the finish. Other things I dug was how the crowd was buying into the big moves, but also the flash pins.

I don't think it's controversial. I just don't think it's fair because their is so much more Hart Foundation footage .

I was really looking forward to this. Meltzer put over Gomez a lot in the Observer. This was my 1st time seeing him. Overall I was dissapointed in the match. Started out fine, but turned into a lot of nerve holds. Gomez didn't get a lot of offense in to boot.

Steamboat was great could be argued as early as 78. In 1983 Steamboat had the Final Conflict tag, in 1984 had great matches with Steamboat, and Dick Slater that is on tape.Steamboat was getting World Title matches against Harley Race as early as 78. From 78-84 Ricky Steamboat was working on top drawing big money. He drew more money from 78-84 than he did from 89-94. We just don't have a ton of full matches from him from 78-84. We have enough to show he was as good in 84 as he was in 89.
-
I think you could say Steamboat was great as early as 78.

Well their is the Steamboat/Savage match from Toronto in Feb. which I liked better than Mania. He had a great match with Bret in 86. Jake Roberts from Boston. Don't have dates in front of me.

I love this idea too. But would Rock put the kibosh on working with Shawn? It's something he's never had any interest in (which he outright said in a Torch Talk interview a few years back), even after Shawn's born again conversion. I thought in recent interviews he was a guy he wanted to work with.

That's possible, again on the boxes I'm checking able to have a great babyface vs babyface style match would be low on my criteria. It's a cool feather to have in your cap though.

I was referring to his one in 91 at MSG. All 3 matches were in 91 so I thought it was a fair comparison. Bit of a sly one though, cos the 91 Bret match with Ted that has always been pimped online is the one from SNME (which I like, about ***1/2) rather than that MSG one (which I always found weird cos I didn't buy him going for IC belt anyway), and both are probably better than the match Steamer had with Ted in 91 (KOTR). Don't want to get hung up on the examples, and this post feels nit picky, but I don't think you're being entirely fair to Bret with those specific ones. The point I was trying to make was that even Steamboat at his lowest as a human Dragon in 1991 was having better matches at MSG than Bret was as IC champ, and working harder. You are getting caught up on the Ted Dibiase part which is a foot note.
-
That's a fair point. Though Steamboat really didn't get that opportunity. I remember he had a pretty good babyface match with Dustin, but not at the level of Waltman match.

I've always thought this was the much more interesting argument as opposed to Bret vs Flair. I'd go with Steamboat as well. He mailed it in much less.Just look at the WWE network houseshows. Steamboat had better matches with Meng, and Smash than Bret would have with a guy considered a better worker in Ted Dibiase. On those same houseshows I've seen the Bezerker out work Bret in their house show match.Don't let me bring the 80's houseshow matches with Savage on their. He was a better tag worker. Steamboat had a little better babyface psychology than Bret. Even though people loved his arm drag. If it didn't make sense in the match he wouldn't use it. An example of this is the 84 hr draw he had with Flair. No arm drag, because he was working a headlock, not the arm. Both guys were great at making their opponent. Bret of course was the better heel.

I loved that match Brad. It was a match where both guys got over which is harder to do than people realize. I'd be giving both of these men contracts. Martinez is a guy that they can get over really quick because of his size and look . Plus from the little I have seen , can work. Rush is another in a line of really good smaller sized workers who fits in on the roster like a glove.

That what I proposed on Twitter. Then turn Reigns heel after Ambrose beats Brock. Have Reigns tell Ambrose he stole his destiny . After Reigns turns on Dean he cuts a promo about last year Seth stole his destiny to be World Champion, and this year you did. You guys were supposed to have been my friends. This justifies his heel turn.

It is updated. It has every match that is on the service. The 1st list has every match in upload order. The 2nd list has everything in date order.

I found a lot to like about this match. I enjoyed the 1st fall the most. I enjoyed the IWRG mat work early. Then Gino was like screw this and goes full blown rudo. Very structured like a Lucha fall. The 2nd fall had some good lucha elements. I liked Gino in control early just beating on Sicodelico. Then like any good technico he makes a comeback with tons of fire. The 3rd fall was interesting. Sicodelico is selling a shoulder injury. Gino attacks it for a second, but then goes for the mask. Lewin in for the save. Calling the heels pussycats. I also enjoyed the commercials. Showing how big a wrestling town Houston is/was. 3 1/2*

I feel the Houston stuff has helped with Chavo. It gives him a lot more matches to look at. I think he has a lot more stuff in the vault that 5 years from now will help him even more.

That was my big problem with Memphis. Felt like a hell of a TV run but not something that held up well in comparison with territories churning out regular classics. Midsouth's '85 wipes the floor with the decade in Memphis in my eyes. Hope you enjoy the Savage stuff. Never been as high on him as others but didn't think it was in the same league as Lawler's feuds with Dundee, Funk, Flair, Idol, Bock, Kerry, etc. I think if we had all the Mid South Coliseum stuff, that would be a different story. At least for the main events. That was the exact same thing I told Parv.
