The did the "BIGGEST RUMBLE EVER" one year with 40 guys when they had all the Nexus/New Nexus/Corre/whatever stuff going on and I remember it not being a very good or memorable Rumble match. I think Del Rio won that year?

JoJo is currently the ring announcer. The lady on the pre/post-show and doing backstage interviews is Charly Caruso. I think she's really good at it and the best they've found since Renee Young. I hope she sticks https://www.instagram.com/p/BNHaGioBv5A/?taken-by=charlycarusowwe&hl=en

I was always a fan of him as a character and a manager. I know he would win "worst manager" like almost every year in the Observer..........but I was a kid in the 80's and didn't see my first Observer til the late 90's.......and I was like "WTF" when I found this out He wasn't a great promo, but he was entertaining and a great heel. As a wrestler.....I've really only seen him when he was way past his prime......and the WWWF/WWF style was slow and plodding anyway. He had good timing and manarisms and knew how to get heat. I have to assume he was a better worker when he was younger. Dave on WOR said he was a pretty good bumper earlier in his career which led to his injuries, and I was surprised to find out he had a year long run with the top belt in San Fran in the late 70's. I'd thought he was one of those WWWF mainstays during that period Anyway, I was a fan. RIP.

Heath Slater undrafted is hilarious and could/should for make for funny TV with him showing up on both shows trying to get a job.....or going to NXT. I'm a big fan of his, solid hand and very entertaining Wacky draft as per usual. Really wish they would have spelled out simple things like Joe-Nak, Asuka-Bailey and Revival-Ciampa/Gargano not being eligible due to being signed for NXT title matches at the next revival show. Doesn't take a whole lot to explain why none of them would be drafted, while others were, but they never bothered. They also never explained what's up with the WWE title, Womens title and Tag Titles. It's a major stretch to create a second Womens and Tag Title for SD.....and this supposed cruiserweight division on RAW is Neville and who? They should really have the 3 main champions free to float between brands.....while the IC and US stay on one show.....but all the rumours are going back to split titles. That SD womens division of Becky, Natalya, Naomi, Alexa, Eva and Carmella is not enough for a sustainable division. Be interesting to see if there are trades made, what they do for FA signings with the rumours of vets from the past being brought back to fill out the rosters, and how they handle some of the further NXT callups

With Heyman not being listed with Brock like the other managers......I wonder if he's going to be one of the GMs

I thought Clement Petiot looked pretty good, would like to see him get signed

BRING BACK BOB HOLLY!

As a big WWE and UFC fan I think this is great. It's well known that Dana and Vince have a cordial relationship and mutual respect, there's no reason they shouldn't cross promote. This helps both UFC and WWE IMO, and ESPN will be all over it. And if it leads to Rousey being allowed to work a big match with Steph that's even better, and would get Rock back in too I'd think. Of course, if Brock doesn't win his fight it's not good for either promotion, but I think they'll give him a name opponent who he should be able to beat. Looking at the crazy stuff he's done in this WWE run he looks like he's fully healed from the diverticulitus. If you remember that time, he lost a ton of weight and didn't look healthy. He's been back to "The Beast" for a while now

I need to see another 1 on 1 Reigns-Lesnar match. Preferably at a big show like SummerSlam or WM. If I was booking I'd do them at Slam this year, then do Reigns and Cena at WM next year i would not have done the Seth return the way they did, because Roman shouldn't be losing the belt yet, and Seth obviously shouldn't come back and not win......so how they book that program is gonna be interesting. Obviously Seth lost the title without actually losing.......but he also won it underhandedly.........him against HHH seems like the natural feud and maybe that is why HHH has been off TV since Mania. Before Seth got hurt that was the planned Mania match
-
I didn't even really notice it, and I watched the match 3 times. I guess maybe if you don't watch WWE TV on a weekly basis it would be jarring? It's way worse on RAW sometimes than it was there.....and I actually thought AJ snapping and destroying everyone with chairs was a great spot in the match, and had been built up really well. The last thing on my mind during that was camera cuts, and I think they may have added to the moment tbh

No......it's not out of character in the least if you've seen her in NXT. Her bestie Emma is injured right after Dana hits the main roster.......of course she'll sleep with Ric and worm her way into that sitch 4 Way was great, Main Event was great........cage match was too long but the tack teases and Jericho taking it like a champ was great. Tornado Tag was a fun, chaotic opener. Good show

I should also add that I never cared for "The Demon", never quite got why so many internet fans got their panties wet over it, and thought it would be stupid on the main roster. I loved Devitt doing the paint gimmick for big New Japan shows, but the cool thing was he switched it up and it was never the same twice. He would do the paint different each time with "The Demon" but it got old quick. Very cool the first time, then increasingly less so, and eventually lame. IMO I like him so much better as cool badass Irish dude Finn Balor compared to "The Demon" and think he's way better as a heel or just an edgy character than a babyface, but maybe that's just me
-
In storyline though, AJ and Finn aren't old friends. The Bullet Club and Devitt had a falling out, and AJ debuted as the newest member. They weren't in the group at the same time and didn't cross paths IIRC. If anything, I'd expect Anderson & Gallows to turn on AJ setting up Balor's debut (not as "The Demon" but as his "Balor Club" character) and a program vs. AJ. Remember, those guys never turned on Devitt, but they did turn on AJ in NJPW.....and WWE for a change is playing off things that happened in another promotion

What?!!?!? That listmaker needs to be sent to a Punjabi Prison /unabashed Khali mark XOXOXO

He'd been steadily improving for a while. OTTH I don't remember when I started noticing how under the radar good he was getting, but it was well before the Kalisto matches I don't know what to make of this contract dispute stuff. It's screaming work to me right now, but I could be dead wrong on that
-
Seriously This probably belongs in the Meltzer thread, but on WOR Dave said Ryback was "out of position" on the dive and I just SMDH. Kalisto severely undershot it and Ryback saved his ass by moving into position to do so. Sometimes I feel like Dave doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. And Bryan, who should call him on it, was doing WOL and had the pre-show on mute and guaran-damn-tee he wasn't paying attention to the match. I feel like Dave is always multi-tasking while watching shows and it tends to explain why he misses the little things and loves the spot fests
-
Will be redeemed if he destroys Ziggler on RAW and puts him out of action for a while. Ziggler is due for a vacation.....his act is so stale right now. Corbin improved a lot in NXT from where he started, both in ring and out. I actually became a big fan of him over time, but it was too soon to call him up IMO, and shitty WWE booking and calling him up at the same time as other more polished talent isn't doing him any favours. He's not dead in the water, but if you want this guy to be something you have to push him like you mean it. 50/50 with Dolph is not the way to get new talent over

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
cm funk replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
And apparently (again according to Dave) the tv guide channel is already losing patience with them and thinking about pulling the plug. Eerily similar to what happened with Destination America.... I'm done predicting death for TNA because they're some sort of unkillable zombie promotion......but how many B and C level crappy cable channels can they bounce around on before people realize that the brand is toxic? Dave also says there is at least one and possibly more interested buyers for taking the company off of Panda's hands (I would guess a network, and Toby Keith was long rumoured, but that's just speculation on my part) but the sticking point is Dixie losing controlling interest and not having final say creatively. He thinks they may be warming up to it because they are totally strapped for cash, struggling to stay afloat, and Dixie might have to bite the bullet if she wants to keep the company alive Still amazing to me that TNA has outlived WCW (from Turner to Vince)...... -
Well, I honestly anyone on this board wouldn't know that WM is on Sunday. If you're any kind of rasslin fan you'd at least know about one of the dozens of indy shows on the weekend, or WaleMania.......or the HOF. I find it hard to believe on a hardcore board like this.......you don't need to be a religious WWE fan to know this And, if like you say......NXT is the "real show".......did they forget there's a huge NXT show on Friday? Are they puro fans? And they forgot Nakamura's debut? Sorry, I don't buy it. This is generally a board that's slanted against WWE......but there's a ton of shit that goes on WM weekend and it's basically become the holiday weekend for rasslin fans. Anybody who wouldn't know that.......I have to ? what they're even doing on a board like this

Yes, HBK was involved in the Sting match. I thought it was a cool tip of the hat to the 90's dream match that never occurred. It was even on the cover of PWI in one of those computer tournament issues back in the day! I know this board isn't the biggest collection of Sting or HBK fans.......but for kids my age.....because the two had never really crossed paths and were two of the best in the world for different reasons......it was a dream match.......and it's a shame it never happened I thing this whole "Austin and HBK won't be there because creative....." is smokescreen. Because WWE likes surprises and everyone is expecting them to be there given that it's Dallas, Texas. So advertising them ahead of time would ruin the surprise and the big surprise pop If this is the case......kind of hard to argue with their logic when they're setting attendance and gate records, Mania weekend is bigger than ever, and cities have to bid to host the event. Those cameos and surprises and nostalgia pops and etc. are a big reason for this. I know that's not a popular opinion on this board, but it's the truth

It's a triple main event card I'm guessing Lesnar and Ambrose to at the halfway mark so they have enough time and can cut other matches shorter if need be......and give the crowd a break when they do the music performance and HOF stuff etc etc I'm kind of expecting a Seth run-in on the title match, and he turns on HHH and gives Roman the title.......cementing Reigns as the heel without him turning to the darkside and joining up with The Authority. If so.....that has to go on last If not......well.....I prefer the title match to close the show......but in WWE logic the Shane/Taker HIAC is way more important than the strap. And if they have a bunch of surprises and tricks up their sleeve with run ins and stuff maybe it should go on last. People are expecting a crazy smoke and mirrors spectacle and I'm guessing we see Austin, Foley, HBK......probably Linda too I just can't see them closing with the title match because they like "happy endings" and the crowd will go home much happier with a Stunner and a beer bash than with Roman Reigns as WWE champion. Is that counterproductive? Maybe......but this is WWE, this is what they do, and the fans will love that shit and go back to Mania the next year to see something like it again
-
Of course. The point is, there were literally hundreds of wrestlers who would have drawn huge with Hulk in the 80's. And if you think Brock Lesnar.....who is more like The Incredible Hulk than "Hulk Hogan" is......... The idea that Ray Traylor is a bigger draw than Brock Lesnar is just........only at PWO Nice troll btw. You baited me
-
Also, on that wonderful troll post of "who was a bigger draw, Bossman or Brock?".......lol You know that Hogan was the draw there, right? Hogan could have drawn with practically any decent big man at that point. Ray Traylor? Big fan of his, very good worker, very talented, and a great character. Hogan also drew big with Kamala and Earthquake. No diss, because I'm big fans of those guys......but how much you think Hogan vs. Brock in the 80's would have drawn? How much would the program with Hogan and Brock in '02-03 have drawn if Hogan hadn't walked out because he wasn't getting his loss back? This is the same dude who was trying to bring Yoko into WCW for years just so he could "revenge my loss, brother" and succeded in bringing Warrior in who was like "pin me, pay me" at the time. Also the same dude who would never put Bret over.....
