She was married to promoter Billy Wolfe who controlled women's wrestling before. She gained control after divorcing him. Wolfe was not exactly a peach of a person. So he had engendered no loyalty. Moolah wasnt married to Billy Wolfe, that was Mildred Burke. Im hazy on how exactly Moolah conquered the womens circuit. But Moolah was married to Buddy Lee who went on to be a bit of a mogul in country music. Ricky covered it. I got the names mixed up, sorry.

What Happened When with Tony Schiavone
Victator replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
If Conrad can shut up about dicks and sex, the show would be far better. I like hearing Tony get into the nuts and bolts of wrestling production. Or hearing his real opinions on booking. It makes me wonder about the alternate universe where Tony got WCW in 93. -
Pritchard said Vince told Moolah when he brought Sherri in she was not going to get a booking fee from them. That he was going to pay the girls and she would have to get the money from the girls. I believe it was suppose to be Summerslam 88 where the match took place. I think the anger from the office would be more on the idea they did a title change without permission. If two guys swapped the IC belt on a house show, the office would be hot, even if could be ignored.

I'd say stopping a very large, publicly-traded company from honoring her on a show viewed by millions of people is a pretty tangible effect. It stops them from convincing a bunch of people who don't know any better (most of their viewership) that she was some trailblazing saint. Horse is outta the barn on that.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Victator replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
I took my nine year old nephew to his first wrestling show at New South in Hartselle. I promised him when he was three I would take him like I did his brother. The show itself was pretty good. But honestly I rather be at home, I hate crowds and have severe anxiety, I was four nerve pills in just to function. But it was still an amazing experience because I got to see wrestling thru the eyes of a child. To Connor "my nephew" everyone was a star. He was angry when the bad guys cheated and jubilant when the good guys won. He was not comparing young guys to hazy memories of the past they could not compare to. He ran up to every wrestler and got his arms signed. Cheeseburger made two fans last night in me and the Con Dog. Connor begged me for a mask so I got it telling him that was his big purchase. But he wanted a shirt from Cheeseburger so much. So I got it and he threw in an 8X10. I saw the current indy wrestlers in a new light. Not these punks trying to usurp my memories. But guys with my old passion who want to make new memories. The whole trip kinda put me in the hole before April even started. But it was all worth it. -
83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff
Victator replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Does Bischoff really want to work in wrestling. I think peace has hurt some of these interviews. People aren't angry and are weary of reopening wounds. So you get a lot of polite responses. Which is better for them personally, but not great listening. -
83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff

I found it pretty easy to figure out when Bruce is bullshitting. Or the truth even when he is. Sometimes Bruce seems like a cult member who can't break his programming. But I can't deal with the impressions, like two of them are good. Is the Cornette one ironic? The Schiavonie show kept getting derailed with Conrad wanting to talk about dicks. -
If you check Flair's instagram, he has fully morphed in Biden.

83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff

I think Conrad has become insufferable. Seems like now that Flair was keeping him in check. For some reason the last straw was him saying Tom Zenk was better than Lex Luger. -
He has a tremendous ring presence and charisma. Which I think he had from nearly day one in Memphis. More so than the others you listed at a similar point in development. In ring everything he does looks great. He does have an element of needing to get all his shit in and his selling could be similar to Kurt Angle. I think his best selling point is he can work with anyone and it looks believable.

I don't know why Hogan and Piper never got into voice over work. They were great in that Robot Chicken sketch. Only shame is they did not get Savage and Lanny. -

The matches were good but Flair never got revenge. They gave it to DDP at the last minute and his win did not mean anything. It was the nWo B team and the only reason the B team existed was to lose so the big three did not have to. It did not even really help Hennig once he lost the US title, he was lost in the shuffle. It was done to bury Flair like almost every WCW booking move once Turner bought the company. -

What are some wrestling angles that make you say "Fuck this, I'm done"? For me Fall Brawl 97 is at the top. There are things close to it. But those things could be justified easier. I wrote this on Twitter. The Horsemen losing to the nWo B-Team in Wargames was the point I really stopped giving a shit about WCW. That was a point where they told their oldest fans "You can leave, we don't really care." There is no reason Flair could not have made Syxx, Bagwell or Konnan submit. The nWo would have still been a threat. If Hennig had to be in the nWo, he could betray Flair any other time. But Hennig did not need to be in the nWo. You really get the feeling that the Horsemen were being sabotaged. So Hennig was put in the nWo. Hell on a minor note, a year later Barry Windham turned on Flair. Which I think was done trying to make the Horsemen less over. -
Here is a question I have about the Harris Twins. Its impossible to ignore the SS tats (I did not know what they were until 2002), but if they were that blatant. How did they get hired in major companies multiple times? The only wrestler I ever hear refuse to work with them was R Truth. New Jack worked with them and he has been very vocal over racists in wrestling. I have tried to look up as much information on it as I could. But it seems like most inside the business do not have anything to say about them one way or another. I know the WWF made them alter the original tats multiple times. I use to think they got them very young. But I saw them in 88 Memphis and no tats. Then I think in 91 they showed up with them and it was obvious what they were.

As a pure talent he is undeniable. You can watch him in Memphis in 2000 and he was already really good. I think he is very underrated in terms of promos and character work.

Would Bryan sign a deal knowing that WWE can go back to not clearing him whenever? I'd guess WWE would want a clause were they can't get sued if something happens to him but I'd also imagine D-Bry would want SOME kind of assurance that if he's cleared by doctors then Maroon can't give him a no just because. I certainly hope Bryan put something in his contract to prevent them from shelving him for two years when he stubs a toe. This really does feel like WWE being desperate not to lose one of the few guys who could make a difference.

This is a wrestling forum to discuss wrestling, have you any idea how ridiculous you sound claiming you have 'nuclear heat' in places? Man I know, I have way more heat and not cheap political heat either.

I would not even really enjoy it much. Just a mild amusement from it. I don't see how that is difficult to understand. I don't want it to fail because there would be major collateral damage.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Victator replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Did you hear Cornette go into more detail on his podcast about this period. He was working as an agent and with the production truck since Russo could or would not explain how the matches were suppose to go or even the promos. So Cornette and the talent had to make sense of it. He was also trying to make Russo's stuff more palpable in writing meetings. Then Jarrett is kicked out and Russo gets Dixie to fire Dutch and Cornette so he has no filter and we start the road to Impact on Twitch. -
You are being intentionally obtuse. First step of shitty arguing is making up motives for the opponent. If someone wanted to see the Bucks taken down a peg. It would be strictly because of their attitude and being arrogant vanity searching asses. Not because they still can't do a good superkick. Nobody wants their vanity project to fail. Since it would hurt more people in wrestling than just the Bucks, Cody and dick flipper.

I guess Ax got over his health condition then. Thats what I had heard anyway back in 1990 for the reason Crush was added. It was not a long term thing. He was wrestling as Axis The Demolisher in Global. He went back to Masked Superstar after the lawsuit.
