So because 10 years ago he joined a company that bootleged videos which he hasn't worked for in 7 years that means he should be ok with pirating now in 2011 and beyond? True that there are a number of things that could be done better. I don't even like Evolve enough to watch it for free but that's besides the point. I'm not a fan of the magician defense, the let's talk about all these other things to distract from the main issue. Pirating is the subject that came up on the radio show, pirating is what sparked the conversation in the thread about the show, bringing up "Gabe could advertise better" isn't a good defense of pirating NOT being harmful to his company. Which is funny because I still know a ton of places I could easily find dl links to his stuff so it's not working anyways. I checked a torrent site earlier today to see what Evolve was up and I saw 6 or 7 shows that combined had a few thousand downloads. Even if a majority of the people getting them wouldn't buy otherwise (which is a pop argument) it's not 100% and if only a small fraction of those ppl bought instead it would amount to a significant amt of money for a smaller company like this. The "doesn't this idiot know we're HELPING him" defense is something i've seen the people who actually post the stuff cry about when getting caught and I always thought it was pretty silly. Like they legit think they're doing Gabe a favor and he should be grateful.

Gabe goes into a detailed explanation about how pirating is hurting the business with specific examples of how it's caused them not to be able to run as many shows, pay the wrestlers as much, afford better buildings, etc.. Board response = Gabe's a bitter cry baby, boo hoo. Pretty hilarious to me Not going to pretend I don't pirate stuff too (not Evolve/DG since not a big fan but I DL lots of things in general) but i'm not delusional enough to not be able to see things from the other side as well.

Over at the F4W board the backlash against Gabe for daring to be pissed at the ppl who're pirating his shows is pretty hilarious.

Hm, when did they officially take on that name? I know Sullivan/Butcher/Avalanche had been a group for a while by this time

Heh, is this the infamous reviving elbow match? I remember the Dungeon/Horsemen vs Hogan/Savage/Sting feud this morphed into that had Lex in the middle playing both sides producing some good matches but I don't recall this being one of them. On a related note I was always bumed we never got Hogan vs Sullivan in a straight singles since that's what the whole feud was built on. Pure guess that Hogan wouldn't have wanted to sell a ton for a guy that short but it still would have been cool I thought.

One of my least favorite Rumbles ever. Dunno if i'd go worst but it's at the bottom of the pile, 1 minute entries just kills it.

[1995-01-04-AJW] Manami Toyota & Sakie Hasegawa vs Kyoko Inoue & Takako Inoue
FLIK replied to Loss's topic in January 1995
Double Inoue won the tag belts off Toyota & Yamada a few months earlier and they also pretty much took over their spot as the best team in joshi. Hell of a run they had, with this year being their peak, one of the best teams ever period. -
Knocked out in a previous match, forget which. She got a replacement put in but that would also ocasionally get knocked out too.

Finlay blabbing on about his castle & kingdom in these promos has me really wanting to see the Bambi Killer match http://www.youtube.com/user/IrishWrestler21 Hopefully a match like this coming out will open some people's eyes to Thatcher, he's a real talented guy who could actually be a success if he ever got the chance to escape the island that is the Nor Cal indy sceen
-
On a similar note, anyone know if any of Finlay's recent European stuff has poped up anywhear?

From Ricky Fuji's One Wild Night show 3/20/2004 Men's Teioh vs Ricky Fuji went 60 mins (can't remember if it was an iron man or not) Worked number, they actually only went around 52 mins Falls count anywhear match. This was one of those deals whear they started fighting earlier in the show, went out of the building, disapeared for a while then showed back up at the end of the show. Not a literal 2 hour + match

Yeah, what Eric said

Hm, so things that have gotten me to watch WWE in 2011 Royal Rumble being the Royal Rumble Elimination Chamber being 20 mins from whear I live People pimping Chris Masters miraculously not sucking any more CM Punk wining the belt off Cena The Muppets The Muppets were awesome in every segment so I got what I wanted out of that. Brodus Clay vid was cool, Ziggler vs Ryder and ADR vs Bir Show were both good. The rest of the show ranged from boring to stupid, especially the last match with Cena & Miz (how does a kick to the stomach make you jump up and land on your butt?). Real chore to get through minus a few bright spots and took me 2 days to finish watching it all.

6/6/2009 (WSU Title - 60 Minute Iron Woman) Mercedes Martinez © vs Angel Orsini Just watched this a few weeks back. Believe me I went in just as skeptical as you but they legit had a great match. The commentary from Missy Hyatt is slice your ears off bad but if you can ignore it or watch on mute then it's worth seeing. They get a little repetitive down the stretch but with overtime they went 71 mins so I could forgive them a little on that, other wise they did a hell of a job pulling it off, big props to both. Some others FMW 9/26/2000 (WEW Title, 60 Minute Iron Man) Kodo Fuyuki © vs Hayabusa APW 12/27/2002 (APW Internet Title) Super Dragon vs Bobby Quance vs Jardi Frantz NEO 12/19/2004 (NEO & NWA Pacific Title vs TWF Title) Genki Misae vs Yoshiko Tamura NWA VA 01/21/2006 (60 Min Iron Man) Damien Wayne vs Sean Lei JWP 12/24/2006 (JWP Title vs NEO Double Titles) Azumi Hyuga (JWP) vs Yoshiko Tamura (NEO) - Hosting this on my .ditch sub site. One of the best matches this decade imo. SPW 10/28/2007 (60 Min Hardcore Iron Man) Adam Thornstore vs Rik Luxury Full thing on youtube here, one of the best matches i've ever seen live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvHdSOcu6Hc SPW 11/16/2008 (60 Min Hardcore Iron Man) Big Ugly JD Bishop vs Timothy Thatcher Maybe better then the 07 version SPW 12/13/2009 (60 Min Hardcore Match) Sir Samurai vs Dante vs Mr Frost

Thoughts on other stuff from 2/28 AJW Kyoko Inoue & Bat Yoshinaga vs Aja Kong & Kaoru Ito Starts out pretty pretty average, Ito gets isolated and beat up for a bit then Aja & Bat tag in and all hell breaks loose. Big intense staredown between the two then Aja just hauls off and battering ram head butts her. Bat surprisingly does not get knocked out by this and even more surprisingly actually wins the exchange as things turn into a wild striking contest. Kyoko tags in and her & Aja continue pounding on each other but Inoue isn't as lucky as Bat was. Ito back in tries to get in on the fun but she's out classed in this area so things go back around to whear we started with her getting whoped on some more. This time around Bat & Kyoko are more amped up however which sees Ito end up with a bloody nose from the encounter. More Bat/Aja fun and boy, considering Kyoko's the one getting a title shot next month this match sure is doing a hell of a lot more to make me want to see Bat take on the champ in singles. Eventually things do get paired down to Inoue & Aja as they exhchange a bunch of near falls. Aja back fist everybody to hell but Bat recovers at the very last second to make the save, Aja then hits Ito on accident which spells her doom. A few minutes later after Bat makes sure to occupy the champ, Kyoko puts away the young Jungle Jacker with a modified rita romero special for the submission win. Another great match on what's turning out to be a really good card. (3WA Tag Titles - 2 out of 3 Falls) Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada vs Takako Inoue & Yumiko Hotta 1st fall starts out hot with Takako jumping Toyota, doesn't last long tho with Manami getting pissed and just blasting the hell out of Tak in retaliation with a punt to the forehead and a follow up series up stiff kicks. Jeez, pre show they had to have had a big roster meeting whear the Matsunaga's were all like "ok girls, we don't have Bull & Hokuto on the show tonight so our brutal ass whoop quota is going to be a little low, think you could step it up?" because everyone's been super amped up on this show. When you're in a match with Toshiyo Yamada & Yumiko Hotta and it's Toyota who's laying in the skull crushing blows you know someone's spiked the water. Things settle down a bit after that into a more routine back and forth match and and it ends with Hotta getting the duke over Yamada afer 3 powerbombs. 1st time in a long while that Yamada's been the one to eat a pin for their team. 2nd Fall we get start with more Hotta/Yamada kick exchanges which are always a highlight. Takako tags in and all of a sudden a boxing match breaks out which she loses getting droped on her ass by a straight Yamada punch to the dome. More Toyota/Tak follows and it degenerates into a hair pulling war with Inoue fairing better this time around. Really angry violent match this is. Hotta kicks around Toyota for a bit then Tak comes back in and ups the bitchyness factor going for revenge and really heeling it up on her. Things settle down a little bit again until the finish, funny botch as Toyota goes for a dive on Hotta but slips and falls right on her face. Shook her up a little bit as Toyota flubs another move or 2 but nothing serious and she recovers well enough. Few double teams from the champs and then Toyota drops Inoue with a double chicken wing suplex to even things up. 3rd fall Toyota & Yamada try to blitz Inoue and score a quick win but it's no go and then things break down into an ugly chair swinging brawl for a little bit. Back inside Takako starts tossing out lariats and then goes for a few leg bar attempts. After that the match becomes a war of attrition with everyone wearily going all out. By this point they're nearing the 30 min mark and given they weren't working a lot of time killing rest holds you can tell they're starting to feel it. Finally in the end it comes down to Toyota & Yamada again busting out a big array of double teams, they nearly kill Hotta with their fliping backdrop off the top rope, ironic given how many times the situation has been reversed. Finally after 32+ Yamada gets her win back from earlier and finishes off Hotta with the Gory bomb. Post match Takako gets on the mic and issues out some singles challenges, don't know what gets said back by Yamada but i'm sure it was nothing nice as Tak walks away dejected and in near tears. Not a great match, there were def some flaws. Went a little longer then it probably should have and if you're the type of person who's gonna be all "they didn't execute this or that to perfection - minus 1/4 *" then this may not be for you. Still, I thought the good far far outweighed the bad, this was a war and felt like it, ugly & nasty & gritty. For her part, Takako has been turning that corner from mid card technical wrestler into bad ass butt kicker with an attitude problem for a while now and for me this was the 1st time whear it really felt like she'd finally finished turning and was fully heading straight down that road. She may not have won every exchange but she gave as good as she got and dind't look outclassed, a step below or like the weak link here at all. A damn good match to end the night.

Reading up about him, George Kidd really does seems like the guy who more then anyone should be on the Euro ballot. Like MJH said there's almost no footage of him available (all I could find was 1 3 min match on youtube near the end of his career) but he's a guy with a very strong rep. It's mentioned a bunch that he's Kent Walton's fave wrestler but every other account i've read about him from either other wrestlers, reporters or just fans who saw him has them talking about him as an elite lvl guy who was the best of his generation. Besides the in ring skill he's also got the paper resume of being World Lightweight champ either straight or atleast for the majority of 20 to 30 yrs (depending on which source you look at) from the 50's through 70's. Don't know to what degree he was involved but he also was atleast part of promoting and a major star for the Wrestling Federation of Great Britain in the 60's & 70's which appeared to have had some success as an alternative to Joint Promotions though no whear near as big.

How was it? Reading results on Observer Roode/Storm sounds like it was real good tho lame that they were stuck working middle of the show pre intermission spot underneath Bubba Ray/Jeff Hardy.
-
Just watched this, even with all the hype I wasn't exspecting it to be as good as it was. Almost like a lucha title match whear you can really tell they're treating it as something special (even if this was for the #4 singles belt in the company) and going out of their way to work a more serious style and put on as good a match as they can. Agree about Terri, she more often then not kinda stunk but it was more because she didn't have that much experience then it was she had no talent. She'd show little flashes of potential here and thear and had a few decent matches up to this point. This was a real good example of that she probably could have become really good one day had she not flaked out a few months later and then disapeared from wrestling for several years.
-
When I started checking dates I was a little surprised how much 70's WoS is out thear. Atleast half of what i've seen has been 70's stuff and with a few exceptions almost all the best matches i've seen have been 70's or earlier as well (ocasionally a 60's match will pop up too).
-
Yeah i'll second the love for that one, really good, easily the best between them. Didn't know they had a 1990 match, gonna have to track that one down, I liked their matches in the 80's too as they always worked well together.
-
I'm blanking on the details atm but about a year back Meltzer did a really long radio int with Apter whear they went into a lot of that stuff
-
So what's the big knock against Bill Apter going in? I've heard various ppl make a case as to why he should but haven't heard many anti Apter arguments as to why he shouldn't. Still, he's in the bottom 1/4 or so this year and got a smaller % then he did the year before so obviously a lot of folk don't think that highly of him. Thinking about this, theory i'll toss out Newer generation = way more apt to be pro international talent and guys who were wrestling when they were probably kids Older generation = more apt to be marks for the guys with impressive paper resumes like Edge & Moolah since belts and main event slots actually meant a lot more in their day
-
I have the same problem, can't even imagine how much unwatched wrestling i've got Right now my current habits are to focus really heavy on a few promotions but every few shows mix in some random stuff so I don't get too burnt out. The past few days i've been bouncing around, lots of old Leilani Kai matches, early 90's M-Pro, lucha & old WWF, but my main focus is on finishing off later day FMW and 93 joshi.
