  1. Just watched this on youtube and yeah, it's nasty. Blood everywhere. Kent knew exactly what had happened. Crusher kept attacking Mad Dog even though everyone else seemed to know that he was legit in trouble
  2. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have the type of wrestling that has the potential to start a riot
  3. I had no idea footage of the JYD-Freebirds blinding angle from 1980 Mid South existed until stumbling upon it today buried in the middle of a bunch of Georgia footage from 1981 (JYD was in in the studio and he brought footage of the angle with him to play on TBS to explain his past history with the Birds)
  4. Fuck, I need to see that Meadowlands match
  5. The real difference is that Verne was the captain of a ship that sank to the bottom of the ocean while Vince Sr. never had to navigate through anything more difficult than a few rough waves.
  6. Vince Sr got more out of Hogan than most heels in the territory at the time. Hogan's run was from November 79 to April 81, longer than Patera (who was on another level from the other heels of course), the Samoans, Duncum, Valentine, and others. He had a run with Bob in Philly and a long feud with Andre when Andre was a huge drawing card and arguably at the peak of his stardom. I'm sure Vince Sr was well aware that Hogan was a potential superstar. I'm also pretty sure the story of Hogan being fired for the Rocky III role is total bullshit. They pushed his role in the movie on the last Philly show and probably others. I don't think they would've done that if they were upset with him getting the part. Anyway, yes Vince Sr could have turned Hogan, but he could have turned other heels, like Patera, and didn't. They moved on to the next territory and someone fresh was brought in. The machine kept on rolling.
  7. I've had an idea for an all-Canadian show in the back of my mind for a while and it would definitely include a look at the Maritimes
  8. I would love to hear you "do Parv", because even the man of a thousand voices hasn't been able to master that one.
  9. Look for the first 1981 show this coming week, a review of a Valentine's Day card from the Spectrum with some Good, Bad and just plain Ugly (aka "Pete's Protest")

That's how Jericho's career making heel run in WCW started
  11. I listened and I agree, Grande would be a welcome guest. (just as long as he watches the footage and takes a spot after me in the speaking order )

I've never seen something that screams "GIF" more than Dave's Queen of England wave to the crowd
  14. 2014 RVD = 1979 Chief Jay Strongbow, without the Valentine feud I thought the Bryan-Steph-Brie segment was great
  15. My guess is that, during a period when they were losing the promotional war, they scheduled their PPV's so that they would take place before WCW's in a desperate attempt to sway the buyer who only purchased one show a month
  16. Still doing 1981. #27 will be the first 1975 show, #28 will be the first 1981. The plan right now is to do a 1975-1981-Special-1981-repeat rotation for the future Here's a preview of #28. May be a two-part show if we look at all the matches WWF (Spectrum, Philadelphia, 2/14/81) 1) Bulldog Brower vs Angelo Gomez 2) Larry Sharpe vs Steve King 3) The Great Yatsu vs Frank Savage 4) Hulk Hogan vs Dominic Denucci 5) Pedro Morales vs Stan Hansen 6) Killer Khan vs Rick McGraw 7) Sgt. Slaughter vs Bob Backlund 8) The Hangman vs Johnny Rodz 9) SD Jones vs Baron Mikel Scicluna 10) Tony Garea & Rick Martel vs Moondogs (Texas Death match)
  17. Could only find these three instances for All Japan in 1972 where he teamed with Terry and Dory: Bruno Sammartino and Terry Funk defeated Giant Baba and Thunder Sugiyama by countout (29:47 minutes) by 2 falls to 1 Bruno Sammartino and Terry Funk defeated Giant Baba and Masio Koma (25:08 minutes) by 2 falls to 1 Giant Baba and Motoshi Okuma defeated Bruno Sammartino and Dory Funk by disqualification (15:12 minutes) by 2 falls to 1
