    AEW All Out 2020

I know. He always comes off as a troll, including on here years back, where I remember him dying on the hill of some long forgotten WWE b-show he basically declared anyone not liking a loser, and then being banned shortly after. His books are always highly praised though. I read "Shooters" and liked it at the time, but that was before he went full asshole on here. His Shamrock bio was being praised as one of the best wrestler/fighter bios ever written by Meltzer
  2. Blair was clearly the worker of the team while Brunzell was just a one trick, dropkick-throwing spot monkey
  3. Plus Sasha and Bayley spent time on the indies and would've called it in the ring then
  4. Don't want to ruin bubba's joy, but how many million THIS IS GOING TO BE WHEN THEY FINALLY DO THINGS RIGHT moments have been declared in the last decade and then nothing happens
  5. Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed it over the years
  6. I don't think you've missed much. I gave up months ago. As soon they settled into the permanent schedule of alternating between 2010s WWE and Ask Arn Anything the show died. Total waste of Arn
  7. Episode 100 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-100-adios-amigos August 22, 2020 The boys gather one last time (until the 2023 ten year reunion Patreon sellout tour) and shoot the shit on what they loved (and a bit on what they loathed) about the last three years spent watching WCCW. They also talk about what happens to the territory for the rest of the 80s and what highlights and lowlights they will miss. Laughs! Tears? Parallel universes?!?! And someone maybe barfs! It's the end of the road for World Cast!!! Thanks for listening everyone!
  8. Maybe Johnny can coax Boogie Woogie into a territory retrospective pod
  9. Hockey and Basketball feel not so different without crowds imo. Baseball maybe when the games have stakes, but not right now. Not sure how NFL is going to feel. Eagles are my fave sports team, but of all sports it seems like the NFL will be the hardest to watch without the crowd atmosphere. Haven't watched anything current in wrestling in about three months, and not much in 2020 overall really. Not sure if losing interest in wrestling would've happened as fast without the pandemic. I think I'm mostly burnt out on wrestling more than turned off by the lack of fans
  10. In tribute, Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate
  11. Buddy Wayne was the original Friday and then retired wrestler Frank Dalton took over, but not sure at which point
  12. Episode 99 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-99-farewell-to-the-old-barn This episode is dedicated to James "Kamala" Harris. RIP (this was recorded prior to his passing) May 26, 1984 The boys review one last Sportatorium show, taped right after the Parade of Champions. They are definitely treated to some better action than they were when they raised the curtain on this show with January 2, 1982. (Tom "Boogaloo" Shaft anyone?) Highlights include... -Jules Strongbow arrives to bid adieu to the boys for a second time, tearing it up vs Kelly Kiniski -The Candyman is heel vs heel crazy -NWA champ Kerry Von Erich takes on challenger Ric Flair (man, that's weird to type) -Plus one last bonus match: Jimmy Garvin/Precious vs Chris Adams/Stella Mae French (whaaa???), Loser Leaves Town cage match from July 4, 1984! Join us next week for the senses-shattering conclusion to this pod. Who knows what may happen!!!
  13. Yeah, quotations in a thread title always break the board It's funny, I didnt have the handshake issues until this thread was created, now they're constant
  14. I've never had any issues. Is this widespread?
  15. Vince Sr did come up with the "Hulk Hogan" name in 1979 when Hogan had a (quite successful relative to other heels) run in WWF. I wasn't a fan then, but a wrestler appearing in a memorable role in a box office hit was unheard of back then, and still is today. Also a wrestler appearing on Carson was very significant. Hogan was a huge wrestling star well before January 1984. But going to NYC and being part of the Vince hype machine made him the biggest star ever
  16. Andre book by Laprade is easily one of the best wrestler bios ever written
  17. Episode 98 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-98-parade-of-champions-may-6-1984-pt-2 May 6, 1984 The boys finish up the David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions with a look at some of the most memorable matches in Texas history! -The Super D's vs Iceman Parsons/Disgraced 80s wrestler, tag titles -Fritz/Kevin/Mike Von Erich vs the Freebirds, Badstreet match -Kerry Von Erich vs Ric Flair, NWA title The boys also break down the world premiere of a video too bad (not cool bad, just bad bad) for MTV, "Badstreet USA". Join us in one week for our last review show, and then August 17 for the series finale with #100!
  18. Found a list of notable WON's on WC, done by once major wrestling wordsmith jdw...but it's from 2003 http://wrestlingclassics.com/.ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000137
  19. That's a very good question. There should be some kind of index or list of all the significant obits and historical pieces somewhere out there but I dont know if there is. Surely one of the crazy obsessives in the hardcore community has done this at some point?
  20. For me, Gargano vs Cole I from Mania weekend 2019 was the moment it stopped being fun. That was a great show prior to the main, but the minute that wankfest was unleashed my fandom, going back to early 2015 and rarely missing a show, began to flame out. I went to Takeover:Toronto and that was kinda my goodbye in retrospect. As soon as they added a second hour and stopped showing it live on the Network, I was totally done. Looking back, there were cracks, especially the Gargano vs Ciampa feud, but Gargano vs Cole for several months really destroyed my interest. It was a good run, but yeah, NXT is basically just main roster now. Oh well
  21. Of all the goddamn wrestlers I could share a birthday with (also Matt Borne and Greg Gagne)
  22. Episode 97 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-97-parade-of-champions-may-6-1984-pt-1 May 6, 1984 (Yeah, we skipped 9 episodes. It's called "phoning it in at the end") One last supercard for the boys to review, and it's the biggest supercard in the history of the territory. 32,000 + were on hand in Texas Stadium on a boiling hot day. Part 1 looks at... -Chris Adams/Sunshine vs Jimmy Garvin/Precious -Butch Reed vs Chick Donovan -Kamala vs The Great Kabuki -JYD vs Missing Link Join us next week for part 2, featuring perhaps the biggest match in Texas history!
  23. Ha, that never once occurred to me, and I grew up a huge Bret fan in 90s Calgary! I always thought it was a reference to Calgary's Old West cowboy roots/identity
  24. That was awful. I totally dont remember that at all. What was the context of the promo?
