Yes sir, I do think she will make a great heel https://www.wwe.com/amp/shows/wwenxt/gallery/io-shirai-new-look-photos?sf215947523=1&__twitter_impression=true
  2. https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/pwo-retro-portland-wrestling-in-the-late-70s Portland Wrestling in the late-70s (To coincide with Greetings from Allentown #124, looking at Portland TV from 1980, PWO Retro goes waaaaay back to 2013 for Titans of Wrestling #7. Longtime listeners may remember this for the first appearance of the legendary Marty "Hey yo, brother" Sleeze. Enjoy!) Join us as we take a slight detour from the usual WWF journey to look at Portland Wrestling from the late-70s! Parv graciously steps aside as Kelly takes the hosting seat for the first of a proposed series of periodic specials documenting wrestling even more obscure than Backlund-era WWF. For this episode Kelly is joined by Titans co-founder James and rising star Martin (Superstar Sleeze) to look at wild and crazy action from the Pacific Northwest. 3. This pod kicks ass. Really funny. Check it out, folks
  4. https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/pwo-retro-bruno-vs-larry Greatest Feud Ever What happens when recording podcasts becomes increasingly difficult? (honestly, only for the once great Chief Jay Historian, Kelly Nelson) It's time for reruns! Join us for the debut of a new concept: periodic dives into the PWO archives, which date back to that distant age, 2012! First up is a pod originally released in 2014 as Best of Titans of Wrestling Volume #2: Bruno vs Larry. Relive the earliest days of the famed Titans of Wrestling podcast! Bad audio! Crazy James! Some Brit named Parv! Holy crap, this was six years ago! Oh yeah, also enthusiastic gushing over the great feud between Bruno Sammartino and Larry Zbyszko from 1980 WWF!!! (and Kelly's intro is from 2014 btw)
  5. Personally, I dont have the time to watch and record until around the 22nd or so (my life has been unusually busy the last few months), but perhaps Pete and Johnny may be up for it And thanks for all the positive comments. Hopefully things will be back on track by the fall and the three of us will review more non-World Class stuff as it becomes available on the Network
  6. Dillinger's feud with Eric Young in 16-17 was really good, built well, and culminated in satisfying cage match blow off. He was more than just a chant that got over. This is his biggest push yet and he's going to put everything thing he has into the feud with Cody.(who is at a career peak, so he's going to put his all into the feud as well)
  7. World Cast of the Champions IV: Crockett Cup '86, Evening Show https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-iv-crockett-cup-86-evening-show The boys wrap up their review of the 1986 Crockett Cup with a look at the rest of the tournament and the two singles matches from the evening show at the Superdome in New Orleans! Among the topics discussed... -'86 Giant Baba: Washed up or merely past his prime? -The Koloffs vs Doc and Taylor in a true hidden gem -Does the most famous match from the tournament, Fantastics vs Sheepherders, hold up as an all-time classic in 2019? -TA and Ron Garvin: Meh -Duggan vs Slater: Ok -Flair vs Rhodes: Familiarity breeds contempt -The Finals: Meh -Mrs. Jim Crockett Sr.: "You called them the Road what?!?!" Sit back and enjoy another awesome trip down memory lane as only World Cast can deliver!
  8. Some are and some aren't, or something
  9. AEW is appealing because it isn't Vince controlled wrestling, just like New Japan, MLW, PWG, Impact, and everything else, including NXT. People want Not Vince wrestling
  10. Best wrestling podcast going...other than Greetings from Allentown of course
  11. Watched this afternoon. Not always with 100% attention, mind you. I thought it was a pretty good show, especially because the booking is clearly focused and everything is building to something else. Love MJF. Really enjoyed Cody vs Allin. Warms my heart to see a meaningful 20-minute draw in 2019. Say what you will about the chair shot, that was a simple and effective little angle to get Spears over and set up a feud with Cody. Moxley is the wrestling story of the year, symbolizing Freedom (from WWE) and having a blast in a bunch of crazy matches. Can't wait for his match vs Omega and All Out in general. I'll be away for the next show, but will definitely check out Rhodes bros vs Bucks. So far so good for AEW imo
  12. This was one of the best things NXT has done all year. Io and Shayna were great and the drama at the end was really well done. They basically did a modern take on the Snuka vs Muraco cage for the finish (and in a nice touch, Mauro referenced that match earlier), with Shayna picking up a fluke win. Post match sees Io snap on Candice LeRae, a turn that had been slowly building for weeks, and the crowd reacted with legit disappointment at one of their heroes going bad. All eyes were on Io when she left the ring and this felt like a big time moment. That's what happens when you build up characters and stories the crowd care about and get emotionally invested in, instead of diluting everything with overexposure, 7 hour shows, 50-50 booking, bad comedy, lack of logic and all the other negatives that prevent anyone from giving a shit about almost everything on the main roster. Great match and angle. **** 1/4 for the whole package
  13. That's interesting. It TOTALLY doesn't work as entrance music, especially for the Roadies. Also, speaking of Wrestlerock and something that came up on the show, Wrestlerock was the very next day, April 20. In addition to the Roadies, Wahoo, Tiger Mask, Baba, Fabs, and Jimmy Garvin worked both shows, plus Martel who was at the Superdome but didnt wrestle
  14. World Cast of the Champions III: Crockett Cup '86, Afternoon Show https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-iii-crockett-cup-86-afternoon-show The boys get together for an epic two-part look at the previously unseen four hour cut of the 1986 Crockett Cup! Recently added to the Hidden Gems section of the Network, no stone is left unturned for this review. Part one looks at... -Memories of the 1986 Crockett Cup as young fans -A rundown of the events that led to the tournament -The Fantastics stealing the show with two awesome matches -Canada coming up lame -The Road Warriors extremely poor choice for entrance music -More mullets than you can shake a stick at -And much, much more -Part two drops in one week. Don't miss it fans!
  15. So the new "war" will be NXT vs AEW in a way, which is fitting
  16. Episode 71 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-71 August 27, 1983 (WCCW 87) As summer winds down in the territory, the boys examine an interesting card featuring a variety of wrestling action and ruminate on various topics... -After weeks of experimenting, Chris Adams unveils the perfect formula for a scientific match against Jose Lothario -Mike Reed: The only living jobber in Dallas -The greatness of Buddy Roberts -Bruiser Brody takes on a not-ready-for-prime-time Boris Zurkhov -Non-Network Bonus Match of the Week: David/Kevin vs Garvin/Gordy, 8/15/83 Ft. Worth!
  17. Yeah, that's super cool. Really hoping there is a potential gold mine in the CBC archives that could see the light of day in the coming years
  18. That's cool. I watched the Stampede reboot when it aired but haven't seen those shows since and they're never discussed online. I want to say the reboot lasted about a year or so? Principal Dick Pound was a fun heel there
  19. Episode 70 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-70 August 20, 1983 (WCCW 86) After a brief break, the boys are back, and they have a super fun show to discuss. Highlights include... -The Iceman continuing his quest to complete the elusive "troika" -Michael Hayes putting a jinx on the Atlanta Braves -Jimmy Garvin calling a news conference to announce he solved a rubik's cube, or something -Boris Zurkoff/Zurkhov/Zhukov/Zewchoff makes his debut, and he has to earn his way into the prestigious ranks of Devastation Inc. -The Birds vs the Von Erich's in another epic encounter -Plus, bonus match of the week, not found on the Network, Iceman vs Buddy Roberts, 2 of 3 falls from Fort Worth TV!!! (botched segment alert: Kelly and Johnny only watched the last two falls)
  20. I wasn't really a fan of what I saw six or so years ago, which was the 78 Broadway, the two matches from late 79 and the Florida match from 80. I'm a huge Backlund fan and have enjoyed Inoki from time to time. I remember seeing clips of another match that looked really interesting, likely one of the 78 matches I haven't seen, so maybe I'll give that one a watch one of these days. What are the dates for the 78 matches besides the Broadway?
  21. Nothing but the best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery, TK
  22. NXT definitely feels past it's peak since the last Takeover and is as uninteresting as it's been since I began watching it regularly about four years ago. That said, it's been an amazing run that pretty much single handedly revived my interest in modern wrestling after it being almost nonexistent from about 2009 to 2015. Main roster has had some great shows, matches and moments in the last four years, but the overall presentation constantly drives me away and I find it beyond mindboggling that people have watched Raw and Smackdown every week during that period and not been driven insane
  23. It's like Odin from Thor comics. The "Vince Sleep"
  24. It was in 2006, but it was because TSN got the rights to Monday Night Football and wouldn't be able to show Raw live anymore I dont have cable but it would be cool if AWE got on TSN. It's not as huge in Canada as it used to be (Sportsnet, which airs WWE programming, is arguably the bigger sports channel here nowadays) but still one of the major channels in the country for sure
