Early 90's WCW is so much fun. Some great stuff there. Even the bad stuff is part of the charm of WCW for me. Love that era!

So with all the hype Omega vs Okada received I had to give it watch. I will confess that I have never seen either one wrestle before. I wanted to watch Okada for the GWE as I have heard good things, but I just ran out of time. With that being said it is hard to watch a match knowing it received such glowing praise. You start looking for way to criticize it, which is wrong IMO. I really tried my best not to do that. The intros I thought were pretty cool and not over the top. I like the early pacing of the match. I always dislike modern wrestling when it starts out 100mph. Obviously there are exceptions depending on the back story ( I have no idea what it was going in here). They seem to be having a nice back and forth with Omega working a headlock and Okada going for the arm bar. Nothing spectacular. Still very sold execution during the first phase of the match. The middle things pick up nicely to me and you really get a feel for what Omega is trying to do. He's really attacking the back. Okada is really good with his selling. That backdrop the Omega took was executed perfectly. I was genuinely concerned that his tailbone hit on the edge of the platform. I guess the last phase we will call the stretch. Very fast paced, both seemed to be doing a great job of selling fatigue and pain. The crowd has been great this whole match and were really into it. They were a lot of time I thought the match should of ended due to all the big moves. That's something I will never get used to, but I guess that's just how modern wrestling has evolved. Again though great and crisp execution which is very important to me. Overall I really liked the match. It had a big time feel the entire match along with great sense of struggle and importance. Is this a 6 star match? I'm not sure. It was a great match. I'm just not sure if it was enough to break down a barrier of 5 stars. I should also mention I watched this match with Kelly and Corino on commentary. I think that improved my experience as well. Not that I think they are great. They actually remind me of announcers from an 80's ABC Saturday Bowling tour or something. Still better than Japanese to me,since I don't speak the language and I do find that hurting me sometimes.

I was hoping for Rude. Hopeful that is true.

Part of it is definitely a backlash to the excessive pushes the former ROH dudes like Rollins & Owens have gotten.Their inability to actually deliver great main event matches despite being lauded as some of the best wrestlers in the world has definitely not done them any favors. But despite that, what is not to like about Braun? He's very good in his role as the monster of Raw, he's been booked really well and he's clearly improved by working house shows since he debuted a year ago. He's got potential to wind up being what Big Show SHOULD have been in WWE since they've pretty much gotten Braun's booking right while they screwed up Big Show right from the start. Thanks, that makes more sense now. Thanks to FMKK and KawadaSmile for their answers as well. He is fine in his role from what I've seen. I admittedly have not seen the whole push. I was just so confused with all the Twitter hype on him.

I feel bad for the family that they won't get closure. Snuka's lawyer saying he will release more info down the road and try to find the real killer is some real OJ crap.

Throw out wrestling DVDs that I will never watch again ( I've already started and up to around 150). Go to more AAW shows here in Chicago. I was disappointed in the November show, but I did enjoy a show prior in the summer with my wife. Continue listening to podcasts while at work such as 6:05, Pritchard and Exile. Sign up for NWA on Demand. My time is so limited which is still my hold up. I just have to make it worth my while. Maybe cut out YouTube watching and replace it with this? Keep an eye out for wrestling programs/magazines I can add to my collection. Really haven't bought much in the last few years due to lack of seeing anything I want.

What's with all the Braun love on Twitter? I feel like it's some sort of inside joke I'm not in on. He's fine, but it's out of control on Twitter. I can't tell if people are trolling, joking or honestly think he's the next best thing. Maybe I'm just too old or out of the loop.

Was in the mood for some old WWWF stuff. Cherry picked some matches on YouTube. Watched Backlund vs Patera in the Texas Death Match from 1980 in MSG. This is one of those matches I haven't seen in a really long time. Video quality was way better than my last watch in it which helped the viewing experience. Really solid overall with double juice which I'm a sucker for. Wish Backlund would of showed a little more vulnerability. After a big heat segment he kicked out at 1. Liked how Patera still wanted to continue after the match with some great stare downs like 2 big heavyweight boxers. Good stuff here. Then I watched Backlund vs Graham in a Stretcher match in Philly from 78. Bob was already champ here. Pretty fun and I enjoyed it. The refs attempting to put either guy on the stretcher was amusing as the guys looked like they were getting dumped out by the refs. Finish was somewhat confusing as Graham kind of fell out once the refs hit the floor with him on it and landed on his feet. I presume this was done to keep Graham still looking strong for future matches. Next up was Graham was champ vs Bruno in a cage from Philly in early 78. Graham took some amazing bumps into the cage which made Bruno look awesome. Crowd was insane for this match and definitely behind Bruno. Finish was clever with Bruno getting a running start and kicking Graham while he was down right out of the cage enabling Graham to win and retain the title. I was wondering how they were gonna finish this match as I didn't see Bruno losing in a cage straight up and this was a good way to do it. Fun match overall. Lastly it was Graham vs Backlund in a cage from 78. Bob is champ here. Match is clipped unfortunately. Not much of a match with Backlund escaping with Graham trying to hang onto his foot. This was pretty early on in Bob's reign, so they were still establishing him as champ. Cage matches from this era of WWWF are hit or miss due to them being one sided a lot of times and this one would be in the miss category for me.

Just watched this match for the first time after hearing about the death of Cota. My review will not do this justice at all. Wow, what a great match. The ankle work by Cota was great every step up of the way. Cutting off almost every Casas comeback to the end was really great stuff. This is where Cota's heel mannerisms really stood out. The selling by Casas was great as usual. I presume this was not available when the set came out, but it's definitely worthy.

Wow a lot of Scrooges on here. I take it none of you have kids. That will change your whole perspective on it.

This is something I'll have to seek out. Sounds pretty fun.

The only reason I liked Seth in the Shield was due to his fantastic bumping and feeding at the time which I put a lot of stock in. Once he went on his own I realized he had zero match structure ability and most spots were done with no rhyme or reason. His selling and mannerisms have become atrocious and is not suited for being a babyface at all.

You might be waiting for awhile. They really don't have any good matches on a consistent basis until 95 IMO. Obviously that's subjective. At least it should be a fun project.

Grand jury investigating Jimmy Snuka's role in Nancy Argentino's death

I thought he was spelling it like that as some sort of joke that I didn't get 😄. -
I never heard of it either. I'd be interested in seeing it if you put up on YouTube.

Just read about his passing. Very heartbreaking. RIP Adam.

Nice grab. The Abby fig has the gig marks as well. Many fond memories of those figs.

My time to watch wrestling is limited with life getting in the way. For me to find the time to watch last night and force my family to watch with me really left a sour taste in my mouth. Would it have been to much to ask to at least have Goldberg and Lesnar to go back and forth for 10 minutes? I know quick fights can happen in boxing or MMA, but I don't expect it in wrestling. I'm old and modern wrestling really isn't for me, so when something peaks my interest it's a rarity and to have all that build up for a squash really ticked me off.

WTF. The only match I really wanted to see and it was a 45 second squash. I stopped my wife and kids from watching the Walking Dead for this. Well that will never happen again.

Live Wrestling: What are you watching, what are you going to watch?
victory replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
I just went to the AAW show "Never Say Die" here in the Chicago area last Friday. I honestly didn't like it for the most part. Way too many comedy spots from most guys. Also the flips were just getting ridiculous. It almost seemed like they had a bet in the back who could do the most in a match. Jack Evans probably won the bet. Even Chris Hero couldn't make this a positive show. By the end of the show I couldn't wait for it to end. I will try to catch another show down the road as i have liked it in the past. -
If you could time travel, what wrestling would you watch?

Late 70's Crockett era for me. To be able to see some of those matches would be phenomenal. They had so much talent on that roster during those years. My second choice would be mid 80's AJPW. Love that era and style. -
Good for Ellsworth that he's making some money. I just hope the novelty of it wears off sooner rather than later. Just not my thing at all.

Brock for me. I thought he was great in 2002 and 2003. Him leaving was one ( not solely) for losing interest in current wrestling. I was excited for his comeback and enjoyed him in the beginning. Now he's almost a channel changer. It first started with the WM match with Roman which I just hated and it has gone downhill from there. I am interested in his Goldberg match, but that isn't due to Brock. I'm a Goldberg fan and I just wanted to see him have another match.

Missy Hyatt is a good follow. She watches a large amount of new and old wrestling and always has some interesting thoughts.
