The Guerreros (Chavo and Hector) should of been much higher. I thought they would of been a shoe in for top 25. They were really great as both a heel and face team. I'm guessing people just haven't dived into them yet.

Can a one man team really be a team? 😀

My Ricky Steamboat interview about storytelling, psychology, etc
victory replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Someone linked this article on Twitter the other day. Really great stuff. -
I guess this is cool to help bring other MMA people in down the road to help cross promote like Rousey, etc. For Lesnar I think it might be a mistake depending on who he's fighting. He was never the same after the Carwin fight. Always backing up being afraid to get hit. A good striker would not be a good opponent for him for sure. Either way I'll watch it.

Gymnastics in pro wrestling/the Ricochet-Ospreay/Vader drama
victory replied to GOTNW's topic in Pro Wrestling
I will admit I was pretty blown away at the athelticism in this match. Modern wrestling for the most part is hit or miss for me as I'm more of an 80's territory guy, but I can't nitpick this match. I showed the gifs to my 10 year old twins and one of them has been talking about that jumping ddt all weekend. He loved the moves. This match appeals to him and most younger people I would presume, it wasn't meant for us 40 yr and over fans IMO. Will it hold up over time? Who knows. Maybe it will be the modern version of Tiger Mask and Dynamite and then maybe it will be known as just a Teddy Hart spotfest and will be forgotten about in a few months. -
I wonder if Smackdown will get a name change. Seems like a good time for it.

What was Cody's ceiling? I never really saw him more than a middle of the card kind of guy which is the spot they had him in. I'm not sure putting him back as plain old Cody Rhodes would of changed that. They only have so many spots and with all the new guys they've been bringing in he wasn't a guy they were gonna invest anymore in right now. He's probably better off being gone and see if he can build his name somewhere else then come back down the road possibly. Maybe the landscape will be different and the timing will be better.

I only saw the main event last night as I got home too late. I'll check the rest out later this week. Really enjoyed AJ and Roman. These guys for some reason have great chemistry. I think it was Loss who said AJ might be Roman's career rival and it certainly is looking like that. Just so good together. I really hope they meet up again down the road soon. Roman has really improved over the last year ring wise to me as well. His mannerisms and facials were not that good last year and you could really see he was not ready for his spot. Now he's got all that down pat and his improvement is fun too watch.

There is 120 teams.I guess I never thought about the teams that didn't make the 25. For some reason I thought it would just start at the 25th slot. Still seems a little long, but if that's what needs to be done it's more understandable now.
-
I'm glad the tag team list will be revealed soon, as I have been anticipating that since the start of this project, even more so than the singles. My only gripe would be taking 30 days to reveal 25 teams seems a bit much. Interest will probably dwindle at that rate.

Warrior vs Savage from Summer Slam 92 shouldn't be part of the list. That is almost as good as the WM match despite the shenanigans. Warrior might of been at his best due to being lighter and more mobile.

Is Randy Savage vs Undertaker finally on its way to a official DVD?
victory replied to iamthedoctor's topic in Pro Wrestling
The list is credible. WWE sent it via email in survey format. They actually sent 2 surveys. The other one has choices of Rick Rude, Kurt Angle and a Taker set with a doc. Check out wrestlingdvdnews.com for more info. Most of the surveys I get our about the PPVs which I rarely fill out. I do enjoy these DVD ones. -
I had Funk at 1 and Flair at 2. It really was a toss up. I just felt more comfortable putting Funk at 1 due to his versatility.
-
I think Funk. He was more versatile to me than Flair and better at those different roles. It was a tough decision when trying to decide over these two. It was basically Funks early 80 AJPW years that gave him the nod. He kind of had a Rocky type of vibe during that period. I love Flair and had him at 2, I just never really liked him as a face. His character was made to be a heel not the other way around. Where Funk could be anything and you believed it.
-
Cool to see Funk ( my #1) and Flair (my #2) make it to the final 2 spots. I hope Funk gets #1 as I thought he is more versatile over the years when trying to decide between him and Flair.

I had Rey at 7 right where he landed and Liger at 8 and he made it to 6. I have no problem with that as we're talking a top 10 spot either way. I'm not surprised Bryan made it into the top 5, I just personally couldn't do it. I had him at 17. I only went from memory on his ROH stuff as I have a hard time revisiting some of that old stuff due the crowds ( chants and responses drive me nuts) and production values. That's my fault for feeing that way not Bryans. Obviously I still think highly of him at 17.

[1990-12-14-EMLL] El Dandy vs El Satanico (Hair vs Hair)
victory replied to Loss's topic in December 1990
Just watched this match today for the first time. With all the hype both of these guys are and we're getting for the GWE project I decided to watch this match. I only saw both guys a handful of times before this when watching other guys. Really wish I did see more of them now. This match did not disappoint. What a great violent lucha match. I was really blown away. Words really can't do this match justice. Loved how Satanico attacked the cut of Dandy. Just great work from both guys with a real sense of urgency and struggle. I initially didn't understand the finish. I had to rewind it a few times as I was wondering what Dandy was doing jumping around on his knees and pointing. Now that I see what he was going for I love it. I love clever finishes and this one has it. I didn't even know it was a hair match. Which would of even added more to it if I knew that beforehand. Really wish I would of had more time to dig into these guys for the GWE project. I simply ran out of time.- 16 replies

All Japan Tag Team Championship Switch in KC-AWA???
victory replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in Pro Wrestling
Geigel was still running it. I presume this was just a joint AJPW & Central States show that would be shown in Japan. Verne probably helped him promote it somewhat, which would be the reason for the AWA ring. -
With PPVs that have passed I like to cherry pick the matches I have an interest in. On Old house show matches such as MSG or Boston I used to like to watch the whole show to see how the card builds. Now my time is more limited and I just cherry pick that as well.

Eddie I had at 12 right where he actually landed. I had Jumbo at 10 and just missed by 1 spot.

Originally coming into this project I thought I would have both Bock and Lawler in the top ten for sure. After reviewing both of them Bock stayed and Lawler dropped for me. I still have no problem with Lawler making it top ten though as I can see the argument for it. Maybe I just burnt myself out on him and that's why he dropped. That happened to a few guys for me. A new list 6 months from now he might be back in.
-
Buddy Rose is my first top ten guy to drop. I had him at 9. Windham and Casas I was pretty close on. I had Barry at 24 and Casas at 21.

Atlas is underrated as fuck. He was great at selling for heels and could move like a gymnast while looking like a bodybuilder. He was great at translating the role of that 80's action hero into wrestling without coming across as cartoony. Yeah he certainly had some good quickness when he was younger for being so muscled up. Glad to see someone else like him as well.
