Damn. I was really looking forward to this but if this is the best PR has to offer I'm not sure I'll find a whole lot to love. Despite having a much wider platform to work with (literally -- this scaffold is probably 50-100% wider than in Dundee vs. Koko), they didn't take much advantage of the situation and did a worse than usual job of teasing the falls. Short of a couple interesting wrinkles near the finish there wasn't much here to capitalize on the visual or tease a deathly fall. Pretty disappointing.

This is basically Sabu. Always looking forward to it, never knowing what you're going to get, and rarely does the result even approach expectations.

Is Angel Blanco Jr./El Hijo del Solitario v. El Hijo Del Santo/Villano IV TXT 2/25/12 available online?

Is that the case on the DVD as well?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
It's 2015, why are you reading a site that buries the credit for the source of a news item at the very end where most people will miss it while going out of its way not to mention the source in the text? Not defending 411's tactics, but why would the average person reading from a website care about credit for the contents? I understand why its a big deal to those involved. But the masses simply want their content. -
Not home right now so I can't check, but does the '05 version of One Night Stand include the original music or is everything dubbed over?

Why would anyone care about Todd Martin? I'm asking as a serious question. Did he ever do anything besides write Raw recaps for the site? Was he ever a more integral part of the Observer product?
-
This is all wildly understated. Not to say things don't hold up, but one's reactions, expectations and entire experience are definitely different going into something with a completely clean slate. I wouldn't argue for the pros/cons of a first versus subsequent viewings other than the spoiler free aspect, but the impact shouldn't be dismissed.

Not debating that the decision was 100% incorrect, but how is this on the same level as Austin going heel?

Rock came back to Raw in February 2011 to set up his role at Mania and his & Cena's 3 year run headlining the show. When was this deal put together? Was there ever an alternate plan in the works for Mania 27?

When is someone actually carried in a match?

Lot to be said for this. Who's to say if the shit worker didn't have some combo of unusual effort and an epiphany in the ring on a given night? Perhaps some dude who couldn't be bothered to go through the motions decides he's going to work hard on a big show because of a larger push or crowd, or some chick he wants to impress. Its not as though the superior worker in these cases is literally calling timeouts, directing traffic and constantly putting his lesser opponent into positions. -
Vince is one of wrestling's all time heels. Enough so that he can drop the mic and walk backstage for a martini with Dunn.

Why would that make more sense? I am sad that my campaign has attracted no support. I'm all for it, but The Authority has spoken. Its a new era!

Big Show. May the gods of acromegaly show no mercy on this one.

[1993-01-23-WCW-Saturday Night] White Castle of Fear
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in January 1993
One thing I'll add here -- growing up in New York, we didn't have White Castle anywhere but on TV. This shit put it over the top that I had to make my way there and get some burgers. Somehow didn't happen till college.- 17 replies

You think a prominent performer retiring is not worth a thread? Not sure how one makes the case that any Diva since the Sable/Sunny era was prominent performer. The item is newsworthy, but I doubt it changes the landscape more than any number of angles on Raw each week. Certainly worth mentioning, but El-P's point is one I hadn't thought of but was sad to see in that it may very well relegate a number of discussions to the archives. How many of us make it go page 2 on a google search all that often, much less PWO?

I hope she's very happy and healthy going forward. Would imagine the new addition to the family will take care of both, but you have to wonder about someone who seemed to have such a passion for her job dating back to childhood calling it quits at such a young age.
-
Awkward and complete lack of chemistry were what came to mind when watching it as well. I thought it'd be fun and different, but this finally cemented just how far Ambrose has fallen since the Rollins matches at Summerslam and Raw. He's got the Wyatt stink now.
-
By all accounts Brock has been in full Rasheed Wallace CTC mode on this run. As long as the checks clear he isn't going to create problems with creative. If they wanted him to job to Heath Slater he may very well laugh and take his loss without batting an eye. If anything, the exorbitant price tag may force them to make sure they're maximizing his value as opposed to everyone else on the roster, who's just an asset.
-
I don't disagree to the extent he spoke to what they did for the family. But he seemed to portray their actions since then pushing the story and charity as self-interested.
-
I have no doubt there's a lot of merit to what he's saying. But no matter how the story is told now, it seems like WWE did some amazing things for Connor and his family. That's enough for me.

I'm sure WWE would love to use Rousey in some fashion at next year's Mania. On the other hand, she also has a movie coming out tomorrow and loves wrestling. The timing for her was absolutely perfect, and being a fan is just the cherry on top.

I enjoyed Survivor Series & Lethal Lottery set-ups as a kid, but never found them remotely interesting as I got older or on a rewatch. They feel like an easy out when you don't want to be creative. Rumble is a great gimmick that hasn't been overdone but as the last couple years show, YMMY depending upon the booking. Its almost always a fun match and due to the suspense one of the best live watches every year. I thought MITB was a spectacular gimmick and concept at first, as it added another element to weekly TV that was previously missing. The matches aren't what they once were because we've seen it all at this point, but with the right booking (see a few days ago) its clearly still a worthwhile storyline piece. HIAC crashed and burned with the the elimination of blood and its installment as a calendar event. No real place for that or cage matches in the PG era. Which is fine, but the way they're promoted given those guidelines almost guarantees a letdown.

Rusev's gimmick was helpful early on in providing something for crowds to latch onto and was good for easy heat with the flag and music and a Putin screen cap from time to time. After that, I don't think the gimmick meant nearly as much as his work, record and how strongly he was put over everyone he ran through. There's not much you can do with that kind of gimmick that will resonate long term in 2015. Its what they come up with other than the gimmick now that his undefeated run is over (which was probably necessary unless the plan was to headline a major PPV with him challenging for the title) that will determine his lasting power. The Russia angle doesn't feel like more than an accessory at this point, more analogous to Wyatt's lantern & dimmed lights than anything else.
