  1. Hogan promoting Children's vitamins. I absolutely wanted these back then. Thanks, mom and dad.
  2. Mickey Jay was clearly not on the juice. He was clearly concerned about taking the bump off the stretcher.
  3. "Elizabeth was mine before she was yours." What a money line. You could see it clicked with him right away that he'd found his hook for this program's promos. Gene's overreactions throughout this were great as well.
  4. Not just people. Remember who's calling the shots.
  5. I'd love to see Moondogs vs. Steiner Brothers, Hansen & Tenryu and MVC.

Wow. Any footage of this show available?
  7. Correct, they closed it with that rather than Sting vs. Cactus or Steamer/Rude. I wonder if they had to guarantee the MVC a couple main events as part of bringing them over.
  8. Just got back from vacation and planned on plowing through this at the end but got caught up in an 800 page bio that's just about done. I may have to return to work tomorrow but I've got a week's worth of material on here to catch up on before then and absolutely looking forward to it.
  9. Couldn't you argue that Goldberg's promos (basically the silent walk) are still superior as far as building the character?
  10. Most of his matches sucked. A few memorable garbage affairs in ECW and some of his work with DDP & Benoit was good as well. I haven't rewatched any of it in years, but as little as he may have done in the ring, the Sandman and Dreamer feuds were awesome spectacles. Whether that was due to the performances of the wrestlers in the ring, on the mic or the production of the feuds, there was some awesome storytelling and moments presented there.
  11. vs McGuiness from Unified.

Really. Apparently it puts me in the minority but Sheamus does absolutely nothing for me. Why would Sheamus and Orton just forget about the three guys who have beaten them and attacked them over and over? The good guys are holding a grudge and they got to strike back a little. If Shield always comes out on top, it'd be NWO all over again. And Orton and Sheamus are top level guys, it's not like Zach Ryder and Santino got one over on them. No one is arguing The Shield always come out on top. They should probably lose at Mania. But I don't think The Shield should be used as a vehicle to get Orton back into the upper tier. I think Orton is pretty well locked into his current slot unless he gets a reset under the wellness policy. As for The Shield, any definitive defeats they eat should be used to further their character and transition into a new program, not provide happy ending #4 on the PPV.

Agreed, but logic booking also used to mean putting guys over strongly. Not this even steven nonsense. The Shield boys have been on a nice roll and I'd hate to see their momentum cut short so shrek and mr. two strikes can have their smiling wrestlemania moment.
  14. The crux of my point is that without Austin WWE may only be the name of the company and not also its stock ticker. Do Raw ratings, PPV buys and merchandise take off to the levels they did that enabled a second tv show, rewrote certain revenue streams in ink rather than pencil and allow the company to go public? Maybe. But I wouldn't bet on all of it transpiring that way without him.

This. I was pretty intrigued to see how they'd line them up for Mania and a rerun of what they've done recently was not what I hoped for. On the other hand, its a pretty solid backhanded compliment that they needed to find something for their "stars" in Sheamus & Orton and are comfortable pairing them up here again. Just hope they don't rush a happy babyface ending at WM. I actually plan on rewatching Cena-Punk tonight because I've gotta clear the DVR before vacation anyways, but thinking about some of what they pulled off it really was a great, great match. Kudos to them for delivering something like that before their super bowl.

The rana stood out and thought I saw a couple others but its really picking nits. I loved the hell out of it. Punk absolutely needs a hiatus after this run.

That was one hell of a tv match. Couple blown spots and the STFU's were the STFU's, but damn that was great.
  18. I don't think that's quite fair. Hogan built that house. Austin completely gutted it and redid all pipes, electrical and aesthetics. All that remained of Hogan's house were the structural elements.
  19. I haven't watched this in ages, but when I was younger I thought this was the funniest match ever put on.

While I'm not hot for seeing HHH do much of anything, I will not object to Lesnar bleeding, or smiling while admiring his blood.
  21. This place was a hell of a find for me. Literally none of my friends have had any interest going on about 15-20 years now, while I've only become a bigger fan and sought out more and new material as I've gotten older. Having a place like this that exposes me to tons of new/old footage through the yearbooks and other comps? While also having a community of folks talking about who simply do not troll? Awesome.
  22. I was tempted to go Thunderqueen as well but didn't for the reason you noted. Haven't seen enough of her singles work at this point to honestly put forth a vote.
  23. Great match as we're basically now fully locked into the era when All Japan at Budokan means a pair of excellent matches on top. There's a jump cut after the intros with Jumbo showing great fire and the gaijins with some strong heeling on him. After Jumbo & Taue play FIP for brief periods we get a truly fantastic finishing sequence with an Oklahoma Stempede and Jumbo hitting a Thesz Press for near falls and Taue delivering a tope to take out Gordy which allows Jumbo to hit a pair of backdrop suplexes for the title change. I know this wasn't complete but what we got was strong enough for me mto put it ahead of Misawa/Hansen. ****
  24. He's got the wins over Jumbo and with this one Misawa shows he's also a legit threat to the triple crown, which he takes in August. Misawa starts with a series of elbows, and after Hansen is forced to escalate with a DDT on the floor the story becomes the champion slowing things down and keeping the challenger grounded towards that end. Misawa keeps coming back with brutal elbows which just aren't enough to win the titles. The crowd pops big for the facelock and Misawa gets to withstand one lariat with a foot on the ropes for the near fall. The finishing stretch with a flurry of elbows followed by a couple lariats is awesome. Hansen retained but its pretty clear Misawa will be coming back for more. ***3/4
