As an MJF fan, this is sad but true. It also feels weird how Omega's absence isn't felt either. I guess him coming back last time and having a weird run of hot and cold runs downplayed his importance in the company but I still feel he should be able to help push the company to higher levels if given a bigger role when he comes back.

Would Vince McMahon ever start or buy another wrestling company?

If this was 2010 I'd say yes but he's too fucking old (I mean, in 2010 too but these last 14 years he finally started to age and slow down) to start from scratch and he's too much of a control freak to just be "the money guy". So thankfully, I don't see him coming back to the business. -
To be honest, I'm kinda upset Darby doesn't seem to be in the list of Danielson's bucket list of opponents this year. I've been wanting that match since he got to AEW but I don't think they've even interacted in a tag match
-
Darby said they had only 3 more minutes of PPV and was giving Sting time cues, so there was no way the whole thing was going air live. It's gonna end up on AEW's Youtube channel asap if I had to guess.

Jason Voorhees Sting in da house!
-
Nah man, Darby what the fuck! This crazy motherfucker is gonna try to do a Coffin Drop from Mt. Everest, I'm convinced.
-
That presentation though? That was fucking perfect.
-
The commentary team is fine as it is, no need for more people. You are right that Sting probably wants him there, just lamenting how fucking awful JR is nowadays.
-
I get why JR is calling these last two matches but Sting deserves better than this current version of Ross.

Swerve vs Ospray at Wembley for the belt is gonna be something else.

WWE TV 02/26 - 03/03 Why do people keep on doing live action ATLA adaptations?

You better acknowledge The Great One, bubba. -

"Now go home and smoke some more crack" Look, I don't give a fuck, give us a Bloodline rules match and make Solo sign that anthem. Just imagine the pop if we hear a glass break during one of Rock's promos. I know they are setting up Triple H, but Stone GOAT showing up to help Cody out would probably get an all time pop. Fans wouldn't even know what to do with themselves. -

I hope Rocky doesn't repeat this same material today, this was pretty self explanatory and long enough to fight an opening segment of WWE TV. Him saying professional wrestling so many times felt right, so glad they can use the term so freely once again. And treating Seth as the clown he looks like was the best part, lol. -
Aw man, I actually thought there was a real chance of Danielson winning the belt (to put Eddie over later in the year) but after that ending to Dynamite he's gonna get beat to a pulp by Kingson and eat a giant L

Fuck it. Book Arena México for this year's Forbidden Door.

Oh yeah, that whole thing was a disaster. The few loyal fans that were still chugging along hated it so much they stopped going to shows and shit.

Is it? Suwama would be the only real success story out of that stable and he basically had to wait for Akiyama to return to get real momentum (which was years after he left the stable). And Kento's rise -which is the only real "star" All Japan has been able to produce in the past decade- had nothing to do with Voodoo Murders either. I feel like the heel stable that relies on cheating and fuckery hasn't worked in Japan in long ass time, fans tend to hate the concept and no one really ends up ripping any meaningful benefits. The exception would be Bullet Club, which had either very charismatic or "famous" foreigners is in charge when the stable worked.

I don't know, it took like two months for Okada to overcome his lackluster re-debut. By the Korakuen match with Naito people were more than ok with his mega push. If anything, the lesson would've been "if they don't turn it around ASAP, they ain't it".

Bubba, you are reaching Skip Bayless levels of bad takes for the sake of discussion

I thought it was a good TV match. I sometimes feel AEW commentary really fights against Danielson matches as they try to set up Nigel as a heel too much and the shit that's happening in the ring gets lost if you don't put enough attention. Still, I came out of the match thinking the Nagata one was better.

I think your are conflating different things. The company's momentum had died before MJF even had the belt, and acting like All In gave them any legit momentum is not accurate. All the things that happened in 2022 (in AEW and WWE) slowly but surely reduced AEW's rise and put it in the position it's been for the past 18 months or so. Wembley happened when ratings were already down and ticket sales were also going steadily down across the board and showing bad advances. All In was an oasis that had little to do with what the AEW or any of the wrestlers were doing (shit, it sold like 65k tickets without a single match announced). And the most over act in that show was MJF and Cole. Not very different from what is happening right now with Revolution. Which sold out and made them open up new areas to sell more tickets and is shaping up to be of their biggest PPVs ever. All in a context were the company is basically in the same place it was 4 months ago when MJF was still champ and it didn't look like he was going to lose the belt any time soon.

I hope 3 of the 5-10 yearly matches Danielson is gonna have after his full time contract expires are in New Japan because short term, there's nothing that can bring me back. Someone @ me when they finally decide to give the new kids a real push.
