We lost the chance of seeing asshole heel Okada in Japan for so damn long, I'm so happy we get to see it in AEW.
-
I feel like I saw completely different match. That opener was crack.
-
PAC and Okada basically reminding everyone just who the hell they are. Fucking great opener, what a start.

That Bunkhouse match was a really fun throwback. Danielson's post match promo was dope. On one hand I really like them putting all this effort for Mox vs Hobbs (Mox promo at the end was fucking great) but on the other it just bothers me they can't do that sort of good promoting every time. It's so simple and yet they treat it as something that should be saved for special occasions it seems. The promo she cut on Collision was outstanding, don't fast forward that one.

Yup, feels like ever since the Best of 7 series they've been ratings death for the most part.

Bloodsport Bushido announced for Ryogoku Kokugikan on June 22nd

Card looks very interesting. Not surprised it's not selling well though. Sumo Hall was a very ambitious goal to begin with. -
Claudio/Danielson vs Hobbs/Fletcher was a dope mess of a tag team match. The blown spots kinda fed into the chaos they were going for so it didn't really bother me much. And if they let Claudio and Ospreay have 15 minutes to do whatever they want, it might be a better match than anything on Dynasty, which has a ridiculously stacked card, lol. I wonder if we get BCC vs Don Callis Family as the yearly Anarchy in the Arena match at DoN.

Mox winning is at least something. It's been forever since New Japan had a proper Invader champ, I just hope he doesn't lose it soon (like at Forbidden Door) and new people can be made with his defenses. I'm glad Shota and Narita were immediately involved.

Hook is one of the many wrestlers that AEW has in its roster that should be working everywhere to get more experience. But I don't have a solution to make them work more when they have a nice contract that lets them have a bunch of time off between 3-9 weeks of TV runs they get sporadically. Hook would probably benefit from an NXT run just off the strength of having more reps in the ring, doing promos and trying shit out with whatever character they come up with for him.
-
Well the ratings barely moved, but I wouldn't put it past Tony to see the very small increase compared to the last couple of weeks and think this shit worked well enough.
-
WWE's footage of Brock throwing the Universal belt right at Vince in Gorilla was more interesting that this shit.
-
Swerve and Joe's feud is cool and has been well built. Ospreay's continues to show he's their best babyface promo. The rest was either horrible or forgettable.
-
One of the things I've never understood about AEW is Tony's insistence on never making the fans know who of the company's stars will be every week in each show. Tonight they had Mercedes, Ospreay and Okada and it would've been impossible to know in advance.
-
Poor Tony having serious flashbacks "Not this shit again...."
-
I was wondering how big the building was.
-
I fucked that up (and edited my post), I wanted to say it wasn't shown.
-
Yo, the crowd doesn't give a single fuck about this beatdown, lol.

I've always thought the Tony fearing for his life stuff was lawyer speak to justify Punk's dismissal. But whatever happened for them to come up with that phrasing wasn't in the footage shown tonight. At least that's what people in AEW have told reporters (for whatever that's worth). And I have no clue what Perry was doing. He kept adjusting his hair during the whole convo with Punk and all of a sudden Punk shoves him and then goes for another shove (or a punch?), Perry ducks and then gets put in a shitty guillotine. Man, I'm sure Jericho's scraps with Goldberg and Brock were better than this
-
The best possible outcome was showing footage of two people that aren't in the company having an incredibly boring scrap backstage to give their match a convoluted reason to be "bigger"? Nah man, that was a waste of time and it's just gonna give people more ammo to make AEW look 2nd rate and desperate. They keep losing the perception battle and doing shit that makes them look worse.
-
Well, we were asking all week what was the point of showing the footage and trying our best to come up with 1 scenario were it would be useful or positive to do it. And in the end, it was as dumb as we all thought it was going to be. It didn't add anything to the FTR match, it didn't make people care, I'd be legit shocked if it made a tiny difference in ratings. Just a real dumb ass WCW move.

I think I already posted about this but man, I absolutely love the look of a sold out arena with a minimal entrance. I have to tip my hat to HHH for not giving a fuck about a grandiose look when there's a chance of selling more tickets.

One thing the D-Bry run gave the fans that I hate is the "you deserve it" chant. They should be chanting something to the tune of "you earned it", specially for a case like this one with Cody.
-
Seth getting Yamcha'd was a delight. All jokes aside though, dude really is a team player, thankfully because WWE needs him to not believe he should have a bigger role than what he had in this run.

"How the hell do I tell this guy he has to drop the belt to The Rock in Saudi Arabia in 6 months?"
-
Yeah, momma Rhodes getting chocked up almost had me.
