Yeah, I don't think he has a big historical significance in the sense of changing the business. Even his WWE run didn't really lead to changes and if anything, Punk was first in the "indy internet darling that made it" wagon, and he was consistently a bigger draw for the E. If Danielson doesn't become a wrestler the business and the fans lose in terms of artistic value -for lack of a better term- but I don't think anything really changes. This is not a 1 to 1 comparison -I'm certain there's tons of arguments to make better comps than this one- but if Daniel Day Lewis doesn't become an actor, cinema (and certainly Hollywood) doesn't really change much, but they do miss out on some classic and memorable performances.

3.7k in Osaka for Sabre vs Shingo. And the WK card is looking depressing as shit. I hope TK lends a hand and at least lets Omega work a high profile tag match but it's gonna end up being an AEW showcase match as whatever is left of NJ's top roster already booked. I'm also assuming that Okada doesn't work WK but probably works Wrestle Dynasty the next day. NJPW "WRESTLE KINGDOM 19 IN TOKYO DOME", 04.01.2025 (WPW/TV Asahi Ch. 2/NJPW World) Tokyo Dome - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title, 4 Way Match: KUSHIDA & Kevin Knight (c) vs. Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita vs. TJP & Francesco Akira vs. Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney - NJPW World TV Title, 3 Way Match: Jeff Cobb (c) vs. Ren Narita vs. Ryohei Oiwa - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: DOUKI (c) vs. El Desperado - IWGP Global Heavyweight Title: David Finlay (c) vs. Yota Tsuji - Hiroshi Tanahashi Final Road Special Singles Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. "King of Darkness" EVIL - IWGP World Heavyweight Title: Zack Sabre Jr. (c) vs. Shota Umino Also interesting that Sabre vs Ricochet has been immediately labeled as a special attraction match and not a "title match if ZSJ retains". AEW doing the bare minimum and promoting shows and matches in advance once again is good news. I hope they don't drop it and actually build from there with more agressive local promoting, at least once 2025 starts.

My problem with the finish remains the same thing I've been bitching about since Mox turned on him and did the bag gimmick at All Out. I'm gonna repeat myself for the nth time here (sorry about that, but I gotta vent). I do not believe it's worth the effort of putting him and the BCC over like this. To me this feels very similar to angles like "Who is the Devil" last year and "The Elite are taking over AEW" earlier this year. It may sound like worth a shot on paper but this company does not have the creativity to make them compelling in the long run, and they die a death pretty early. I'm never gonna get over my head that instead of killing Danielson, just let Darby beat him in a classic in front of a red hot Tacoma Dome. I do not believe Allin beating Mox will be as big a deal as him beating Dragon tonight would've been. Mox vs Danielson IV in 2025 (at All In if Bryan can get cleared that early?) is not something I wanna watch again either. The main event was good but it did not grab me like it did some of you. Anyways, Swerve/MVP and Hangman/White are the only two things worth a fuck about AEW right now so I'ma take a break from weekly watching until the Continental Classic happens again. Adam Cole being back in a prominent role is another "I do not need this right now" sign for me too.

The simulcast for Dynamite and Collision on MAX is great fucking news. Ratings talk is finally over. Attendance talk about to be the hot commodity for Cornette and Bischoff, lol.

Those trademarks are mostly for merchandising. Danielson's agent got the "YES YES YES!" trademark a couple of months ago when WWE didn't renew it. It seems they got one over the phrasing without the exclamation mark. Still, they can't stop people from chanting nor pointing their fingers. And even though I can see Dragon not doing it to avoid ruffling any feathers, both him and the fans did it when WWE still had the trademark. Tony censoring it would be beyond stupid:lol:

I'm dying at him saying "fuck Jon Moxley" all peacefully and shit Danielson getting as much matches as possible out of the way before he puts his buddy over in Tacoma. The match has been made official and it's title vs title it seems, as they've said the Continental belt is only on the line for the first 20 minutes (its TV time limit). Does Ospreay and Ricochet open the show with a 30 minute draw? Hangman vs Juice is actually the match I'm most intrigued about. Also, a lot of talk that they will actually announce the new TV deal. TK do loves his symbolism in his wrestling.

crazy how a good editor can make Dave sound.

As with most of the series, episode 6 was a mixed bag. This whole thing would've been much, much better if it solely focused on Vince and didn't worry itself with telling 40 years of the history of WWE. Explaining concepts and key moments? of course, and they actually did an awesome job at that. But they were way too ambitious and try to fit in too much stuff that didn't really add anything of real value. Tony Atlas was the MVP of this. Meltzer came out looking really well too.

Ep. 5 was so bizarre. They had something going the McMahon family stuff and then just drop if for close to 30 minutes and pick it back up for the last 10. And that half an hour in between was not worth it.
-
Of the three I've watched, ep.3 is the best one.

Wouldn't be shocking if the point here is Mox almost killing Bryan, getting belt and by late 2025/early 2026 -with Mox's reign long gone- they run it back with Dragon returning. I just don't want a heel Mox title reign, sick of the company always going back to him as champ. The fact they have this Danielson story for literally anyone else(worth a damn, of course) that could use it just makes it worse, lol.

So glad MVP and the Hurt Business are gonna be in AEW, they are gonna be a dope addition. Nigel was impressive as hell for a 20 minute match after 13 years. I hate that I'm still upset about this Mox shit, I just can't get passed it.
-
Finished ep. 2. Once they stop showcasing WWE mythology -even if they try to downplay it as such, it's still annoying as hell to watch/listen for the 100th time- and start trying to tell the story of what was going during all the lawsuits and allegations of the early-mid 90's it finally started to get interesting. Still, nothing really new in any of this but at least it's less offensive than the first 80 minutes.
-
Ep. 1 was bleh. Way too much Hogan (who is as unreliable a source as you can find) to make it compelling. Hearing so much from Vince could be interesting in the coming episodes from on this first one he didn't say anything that really grabbed my attention (all the bits about his dad could be compelling for a lot of people though). Best part was them explaining wrestling and why it has the potential to be so popular. Hopefully ep.2 is better.

Well damn, what happened this week? lol. I just saw the Roman/Cody promo from SD and holy shit, that was fantastic. Made me want to watch the PLE and I haven't seen much of anything since Rock left after WM.

AEW TV - 9/18 - 9/21 - Never Mind The Bollocks Heres The Outrunners

I think the Nigel stuff would've worked much better as a lead in to All Out instead of Grand Slam and without the "will Danielson be cleared?" angle. Instead of Jungle Boy answering the open challenge, have Nigel do it and everything about it is better. -

That sounds like a "lets make them mad" idea that 2010s WWE proved it doesn't really work in current wrestling. It gets big heat a couple of weeks and then people tune out or stop caring -

I wouldn't go back to match between them anytime soon but Swerve's been out and WrestleDream is in his home state, I highly doubt he doesn't show up and messing with Page makes sense as payback and a good pop. -

Skipped through 90% of the show. The Nigel video package was really cool. I wonder if Yuta can turn his career around with this angle and he finds himself a character that can connect with the crowd in a meaningful manner. The highspots of Mortos/Richochet were cool as hell, as expected. Jarret is gonna have such an awesome brawl with Hangman, WrestleDream seems to be the obvious choice with Swerve returning to pay Page back for All In. -
The amount of patience, good booking and great execution needed to make all this shit worth the trouble of not doing the basic thing here (have Darby win the belt in his hometown in an awesome/potential classic match with Danielson) is not a realistic scenario for me, which is why I'm so against it.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Jmare007 replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't understand a lick of Japanese but even still, this was cool as fuck to watch Would love to know what Yuriyan (who plays Dump in the Netflix show that is about to premiere next week) was saying that made Dump and pretty much every choke up. The picture at the end was wholesome as fuck. The match looked amazing, I can only imagine how Korakuen shows would look like with this level of production, just picture one those matches that trigger "Korakuen magic". -
I hope you are right man. They already made the mistake in 2022 of putting Mox over Danielson to set him up as MJF's opponent to dethrone. And in the end, it really didn't do much for MJF. Instead, it was the Iron Man match with Danielson that truly helped Max go up a level as champ. If this time around they do the same for Darby, having him chase Mox in 2024/2025 instead of just giving Darby the major rub of going over Dragon....man, that is not worth cutting Swerve's run short at All In. Moxley can cut all the awesome promos he can/wants but a win over him is just not bigger than a W over Danielson. Don't waste WrestleDream on Mox.

I just don't care for another Mox world title run. We already went through this in 2022 with the same wrestlers. Mox having a new gimmick does not make it worth it
