  1. Either Dorada vs Casas or the minis match is my leading lucha match and my #2/#3 behind Ibushi vs Nakamura. Think Dorada vs Casas is just a three fall sprint. Yeah, Dorada does a little much. But Casas lays it in on Dorada with kicks in the rope which just looks brutal. Dorada does a dive in the first fall where he comes in at a 45 degree angle into Casas's chest which is super sweet. Total workrate match that brought a real smile to my face. Hope Dorada lights it up in NJPW.
  2. So feel like giving some love to my local promotion. So there are a couple 2CW matches coming up that may have some appeal to people here...or not whatever. March 8th Mike Bailey vs Jay Freddie vs Colin Delaney vs Cheech A lot more people became familiar with Bailey after #RAWlternative and pumped to see him in 2CW. Jay Freddie tries emulating the Eddie Edward types. In a scramble type of match I think that works fine. Colin Delaney is someone who has improved over the years. Probably doesn't sell great down the stretch. Cheech is super animated and while maybe not the tightest offense I definitely have fun watching him live. Think these four will blend well in a elimination 4-way. Brute VanSlyke vs Joe Gacy They're probably going to throw bombs at each other for like 10 minutes which is neat. Brute has a nasty lariat but throws every other strike pretty not good. Gacy is probably going to have a good 2015 if CZW doesn't completely suck nards in the booking department...big IF. Young Bucks vs Dudleys First match wasn't anything to remember. Hoping for some more HEAT in this one.
  3. Watched this match for the very first time today because of the current "Greatest WWE/WWF Match Ever Thread". So from my own personal Word doc that I will probably do something with at some point... A truly special match that has earned being called one of the greatest matches ever. The opening brawling sets a tone for the entire rest of the match. Both guys despise each other and want to beat the tar out of the other. Loved how Austin clotheslines Hart off the guardrail into the laps of Captain Lou and Tony Atlas. I yelped. Everything else that followed was gritty from beginning to end. Submissions weren’t pretty looking but elements like the Figure-Four on the ring post, which I’ll be honest doesn’t make much sense as far as rules go, looked SO painful. When the chair gets involved they just take it up another notch. The commentary adds to the match in a way I don’t see often. It allowed me to greater understand the importance of the chair for Hart. Once Austin gets bloodied, the match gets another level higher. The way they got Austin’s cut in? So great! Austin comes flying into the bell keeper’s area with reckless abandon, taking out staff on his way into the guardrail. The camera angle was so abrupt it added to it. Hart punching Austin right in the cut looked nasty. The way he goes with high impact moves to the head is grand. And the chair jabs to the leg? Awesome. The final moments are obviously the most memorable and for good reason. Austin passing out after coming so close to getting out of the submission is perfect. The match is one of the greatest I have seen. The match works so well on so many levels.
  4. I watch on my computer, have a TV right next to it so I plug it in usually. I also watch through PS4 which is set up to my projector.
  5. Bless those that think WM26>WM25 for Taker vs Michaels. Watched them back to back one, which was a first viewing for both, and the 26 one played off so much better for me. Pretty much steals a routine from the first match and then adds to it. PLUS, I don't need to see Taker almost die on a dive.
  6. That tease of the burning hammer was eye roll inducing. And Doering tries to be Hansen-esque. Will say he has a beautiful stache. Hope the roster gets a wee bit deeper. Too many damn promotions. Also, if of any interest to anyone here, there is a rumor making the rounds that AJPW will be invaded by IGF. Something about Baba versus Inoki. I know ZERO about IGF as a product. So, if anyone wanted to shed the light on what IGF would bring to the table, that'd be great.
  7. Definitely half-excited for that!
  8. Did he change the definition or just rule him ineligible? I have zero stake in the matter but a wee bit curious.
  9. Totally dig it. Interested to see what these "Monthly Match Books" look like.
  10. If that NJPW is on at 9AM on Saturday, that commercial just sold 8 year old me to sit my ass down.
  11. Strong and Swann could be real good. Nothing else on that show is interesting to me but that does. Wish Swann got more opportunities to shine without feeling like a placeholder :-/
  12. Busick vs Alexander? YEP, I'm in. Alexander is up against Kingston towards the end of January so he could be in line for a heck of a year. And pwponderings.com for the site. Can't offer anything I have done for them since I haven't done anything for them.
  13. I'm going to be reviewing both shows for Pro Wrestling Ponderings. Not used to "live" reviewing so we'll see how it goes. Really looking forward to Night 1 and Night 2 I think looks fine with Biff vs Uhaa and Thatcher vs Strong. Another styles match-up for Thatcher.
  14. Thing is, it looks like most of the workers I would want to see, minus Cavernario, is gonna still be in CMLL. So it doesn't feel like much will change. But i could be off I suppose.
  15. Can the CMLL roster coming in be explained? How do they actually choose who is coming over? Like, what happened to Titan? How about Dragon Lee and Cachorro? Too many good workers feel left out from it but I really don't know how CMLL(or NJPW) chooses these guys. One thing I am excited about is Cometa and Cavernario. Probably writing something on them getting a tour to work up to it. Atlantis nor Guerrero do much for me.
  16. Finished it earlier. Dave, want to ask if you simply talked about the wrong match or that the 2/3 falls match ranked where you had it and not the Cesaro vs Zayn match from 2014?
  17. Not a be all, end all thing but something I value highly is a lack of downtime in matches. Not quite meaning high workrate but that could be part of it. I more mean that I'm engrossed in most everything. I don't care if there is a 5 minute headlock segment. If you can make things engrossing even when basic and essentially giving yourself time to breath that means the world to me. Taking Randy Orton for example, this is a big reason why he doesn't appeal to me in the slightest (mixed with offense I don't really get into). I don't know if I have ADD, but I also don't know if I don't have ADD but dry downtime is confirmed to take me right out of a match. NJPW/Indie strike exchanges could also fall into the boring filler boat. When matches are a series of ebbs and flows, if they make the luls interesting, that is something I put a premium on.
  18. To be fair a lot of the high end AJPW stuff this year has rivaled, or been better than, NJPW's best stuff. There's not as much of it, and NJPW is still far better overall, but I think AJPW gets sold short on their present day quality. Agree with being sold short from a high end match perspective but I have rarely seen top to bottom awesome AJPW cards recently.
  19. Dragon Lee, Carvernario, and Negro Casas vs Virus, Hechicero, and Cachorro from 5/23.
  20. -Write more about wrestling: Already committed myself to almost too many places in order to almost force me to. I have no desire to get paid cause that would lead to me being crushed. -GWE watching needs to be done. -Go to less live shows.(adds up)
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm p sure this is against the rules.
  22. Bill, you make this sound like less of a debatable topic than it actually is. From what I have seen I have Charlotte easily above Sasha. Via chops alone really
  23. Someone walk me through what the discussion is all about. Cause I have read through countless posts and it has done my head in. "Card placement matters!" If all that really means is good workers tend to get feuds and what not then okay but if you make a post to say that then...okay.
  24. When I say "WWE eating a chunk of his career" I mean not wrestling for a long time because of injury and "other things". Just to clear up what that means.
  25. I nominated him so I probably should say why. Really, a lot of it was influenced by Noble being nominated and I was already flirting with nominating him. Plenty of guys from this era that have been nominated that I think he is certainly better than especially among high flyers. Sydal on his own will probably end up flirting with the bottom quarter of my list if he makes it at all. Still a ton to watch but right now he's in the mix. Excellent flyer. Has a jaw dropping shooting star press and does well at not spamming moves compared to a lot of indie talents. I would like to see him in longer matches but heck, you can look at WSX for super short super nutty matches that have little more value than that or some of his tag matches with Styles that I think are really friggin' good for that style. His WWE run has good stuff in ECW. Watched a match of his against Paul Burchill and he is an ELITE seller in that. From the little I remember, Air Boom was a fun flying babyface team. He's a fantastic babyface who does all the things you want from a face well. He has quite a few knocks for a GREATEST EVER debate with a lack of big matches probably being the biggest. Also he is only 31 with WWE eating a chunk of his career that could have been used to add to his resume.
