**Roman Reigns looked about a million times better @ Mania. I understand the face:heel dynamics are weird. Big Sting guy here, and I like Reigns/Sting vs Wyatt/Harper a lot. Yea yea Sting should have won but here we are. Vigilante Sting is still a good character and is capable

How do we know where he's At really? He was KTFO out Mania 30 with Brock, and at Mania 31 he had Bray Wyatt who's better in 6 mans obviously. Taker looked good in the /Kane/Bryan vs Shield matches. And if you wanna go back 2 years to Mania 29 I think the Punk/Taker match might have been his best Mania bout. Oh and on Seth Rollins, he pretty much looked exactly like Kofi in that match. I was pumped that this would be his coming out party where he gets smashed and keeps fighting and flying back(someday he will be a face after all) l. But he looked way out of his depth with Brock

Whoops didn't mean to post!! Anyway I want to see Zayn in the IC picture if Bryan goes down. Not just win the belt cuz he's awesome but be in the chase. If they are going to build up the IC belt they need a really strong champion and have someone's win be built up for months until the fans ache for it. Second thing I loved was Ambrose looking like a star again and being pushed into the Main Event and in the World Title picture for once. I love the guy, his brawler attack style and the jeans and cut off shirt. He's just great. Good match with Rollins as usual. I think the have a classic in them though. Again not a fan of Orton, but I'm okay with him in a multi man World Title feud. That Reigns-Orton match was the deadest Raw main event match I had watched in years and then Ambrose saved the segment and gave the fans someone to cheer for. Reigns: I don't get why people don't like him. I think he is great and damn the crowd should have exploded for his Undertaker Plancha last night but they just brushed it off like it was lame. 3 straight awesome PPV matches in a row; vs. Bryan, Brock and Big Show and he is still boo'd. I'm guessing it's still just backlash for "taking" Bryan's spot winning the Rumble and then literally beating him in February PPV for the Main Event spot @ Mania 31. Oh well I hope they keep pushing him and then eventually he will be a heel and get over for being dominant. Rollins: still not 100% sold on him as the #1 heel world champ(who are we kidding he's just holding Brock's spot for him, but how well will he do at it is the question?). I'm glad they are putting Reigns and Ambrose in the feud with him, because I think those 2 can actually really get him over and I don't get why people want to "save" those feuds. He is a new champion and needs to get over NOW not later. A 3 way Shield feud will get these guys over because when they work together it is magic and the fans love it. They should fade Orton out after Payback and do some 3 way Street Fights for a couple months, I think they would really be over and produce some MOTYC's maybe. Eventually Brock will be back for Lesnar-Reigns II and to take his belt from Rollins and just build his case for wrestler of the year, decade, century. Other stuff: Cena-Rusev: Rusev's got to win round 4 right? Cesaro/Kidd vs Kofi/big E is a +(Cesaro deserves better but wth ) Sheamus as bruiser heel is a + Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt feud is a + (Undertaker and Cena are way out of his league, this is precisely where he belongs, mid card) Jericho is coming back is always a + Bryan being hurt and right when we were going to have the IC title be awesome again is a - Is that really it for Sting? Id like him and Jericho to do some business. Would be a cool veteran feud. Stings direction is a - Stardust is lame and sucks. Bring back Cody and Goldust. All that time for a crappy 5 m

Loved the parts of Raw I saw on tv(last 10 minutes) and the parts I looked up on YouTube. I just haven't seen much WWE since Wrestlemania, basically because I always tune out when Randy Orton is in a 1-on-1 World Title feud. HAD to see Zayn debut, been waiting so long for him. Loved him in ROH and he's at the level of Punk and Bryan as far as me anticipating his WWE career (along with Steen and now Samoa Joe, 10 years late but I'm still excited.) anyway the match was really good, not great but you can see the huge star potential, Bryan level. (he had a legit separated shoulder so I understand). That DDT through the corner is so awesome. If Bryan has to go down for awhile I want Zayn to be in the IC p

***** didn't mean to post that yet. Mutoh: I just loved the run and put Mutoh/Tenryu from 08.06.01 against any Japanese match ever. Coming in I just knew Tenryu as the guy from Mania 7 that power bombed Smash and Fujis henchman that helped put Undertaket in the coffin at Rumble 94'. Was blown away that two old guys could kill each other like that and became big fans of both guys. Also loved the Kawada and Nagata matche's around this time. Don't get me wrong I love the AJPW guys and that stuff is 1a to Mutioh as I watch it every other day to be honest , I just saw Mutoh-Tenryu first so they hold a special place in my fandom. The Shield: Everything they did was awesome. Wasn't sure about them on their entrance cuz I only knew Rollins as Black and knew he was good. The. They go and have that tlc match with Bryan Kane and Ryback and are just different and amazing. Then you got the tag title match with Goldust and Cody which has gotta run away with best Tag Title may h of the decade. Vs Sheamus, Cena, Ryback, vs. Evolution and of course vs. wyatts. All classics. And look at them now. Ambrose was a beast in the ladder match, Rollins had Ortons best match since Bryan along with spot of the year and then has the biggest moment of the year winning the belt and Roman has the maylyxh of the year with Brock Lesnar. Sometimes Vince gets it right. Old heel Andre the Giant: Guy moved like a giant. Giants don't throw spears and get beat every week(Big Show, and I like him actually). Did so much with so little and always was the center of attention. Totally deserves his own Mania tribute may h. Just watched Rumble 89' last night and he was the star of the match. Destroying everyone and the forst half of the match was his. And then plays his patt and runs from the snake.

Hulk Hogan: Original WWF run made me a wrestling fan(along with Savage and Warrior to be fair). Mania 3, 5, 6 I must've rented 100 times along with early Summerslams and Series'. Loved Hollywood Hogan, badass transformation and awesome look and story arch. And his 2002 return I marked the whole time, from the classic Rock Mania match to the putting over Brock match it was special to me as a teen. All his subsequent WWE runs with Rock, McMahon, HBK and Orton were special too. Keiji Mutoh 2001/2002 run: Not Great Muta. I don't know what the consensus is on this run nowadays is but Mutoh in this run was my favorite Japanese wrestler. I loved the look and I loved everything about this time. He got aloft of press around this time which helped me check out Puro for the first time and he was my favorite immediately. Shining wizard I loved but mostly I just loved how he performed j. The ring and how

Does anyone really think a guy in his first match should be competitive with the new World Champion? Especially one that's not over yet. Come on

Reigns looks like Sarah Connor from T2

I dunno who's going to be in the title matches but I'm not sure it even matters anymore minus the WWE title. Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan The Undertaker vs John Cena(Taker looked fine at wm31 lets be real, this is the time to do it) The Rock(w/ Rousey) vs Triple H(w/ Steph) Sting vs Rusev(Rusev plays Vader?) Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins Or Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns II The Undertaker vs Sting The Rock & Rousey vs Triple H & Steph Daniel Bryan vs John Cena Seth Rollins vs Rusev It's hard to come up with stuff for the day to day future guys like Cesaro, Ziggler, Harper, Ambrose even Orton, Show etc guys that are established. They need less fluff on Mania and more matches I think, like the old days (wm5, 6, 7) even if they are just 5 minutes long atleast they all had feuds behind them and gave guys spotlight. Like sure the 7 man ladder match was super fun and better than 3 singles matches but I'd rather have 3 five minute sprints where they bust out new spots and big bumps with real feuds behind them. Another idea if you're going to jam pack WM32 with old stars that can "go" would be to do New vs Old in all the top 4 or 5 bouts to get some people over: WWE title: Triple H© vs Seth Rollins(face) The Rock vs Daniel Bryan Sting vs Ambrose The Undertaker vs Cena I dunno I'm gonna think about this and post a final one!

Easily Rey Mysterio Jr for me. Thousands of good matches, hundreds of great matches and so many classic matches. WWE writes the wrestling history books & with their access to his 5-year WCW career(3 of them under the mask) & his ECW run he will go down as the best by far. His first WCW match/PPV match vs. Dean Malenko was great and he immediately was on my 'Top 5'(Booker T) and then he went on to define that belt & division. I have a small bias because I saw what is in my mind his best match ever live: vs Eddy Guerrero @ Halloween Havoc '97. Even though it was a dumb decision to take his mask and THEN push him when a more over, main eventer Rey would mean more Rey masks being sold, I still liked a lot of his stuff post-mask. Like his initial Giant-killer gimmick(too bad they screwed up the payoff by releasing Paul Wight...you know have him actually 'kill The Giant'?) When he returned to WWE I thought it was cheesy to put the mask back on him but have since softened to phony wrestling stipulations(I think Taker/Michaels retirement match is the only legit one ever...for now). And Rey has since become one of the best of the last decade+. The 09 Jericho feud, the Smackdown 6 era, the Eddy/Rey TV WWE title match 04, Rumble 06 performance, Finlay matches just so many good ones. His only real misses were the Eddy custody feud(matches were good though), the Mania 22 triple threat(shoulda been a classic with another 15-20 minutes) & subsequent WHC reign... Anyways when he it comes down to it, who's sold more money in masks than Rey Jr.?? Some Lucha guys may have sold more units over time, but I'd bet the farm Rey's brought in more cash. Other masked guys I love: Tiger Mask I- Dynamite/TM feud will always be one of my favorites. TM moved as good or better than even the Dragon Gate guys at their best. I love OG Tiger Mask, and wish he would have brought the gimmick to WWE in 1984 and wrestled Dynamite Kid @ Wrestlemania I for 15 minutes. He could have been a hall of famer(Misawa took over in what 85? Their could have been 2) Great Sasuke- First saw him in '97 @ Canadian Stampede IYH and my jaw dropped and figured he was one of my new favorites(Taka also). Then the next night they have another badass match and then Sasuke's big mouth screwed up his career and I didn't see him again till 2001 when I started getting Puro tapes. And yeah I like Liger too, but in my personal tastes the 3 above are more fun. Wait a minute, Vader is a masked wrestler...if he counts disregard all the previous 1000 words. He wins lol

Post, sure 1970-1996 has the quality but post has all of the future! Weird question
-
How bout him shooting on the "Dirt Bike Kid" in Japan(forget the promotion) and kickin the shit outta the poor kid. It's really too bad about the Attitude Era lightheavyweight division. Taka/Sasuke @ Canadian Stampede & on Raw after were such awesome matches and it looked like WWE had a true alternative to WCW's Luchadores in having the best Juinor's in puro at the time. Too bad they couldn't keep it going by bringing in Hamada or Dick Togo(well they did, but not as singles in the division) or anybody really.
-
Ok so rules are: 1) WWE only 2) 1996-2013 3) One time use of any title or wrestler Sorry ill look into the January thread next. Can we expand, cuz I would like to see some cards with WCW, ECW, ROH & TNA also. 2014 would be easy for the one guy that didn't go with Superfriends vs. Shield, dammit I have that match sitting on my favorites I really need to see it. How does it compare to Wyatts/Shield?
-
You know in a strange way Dave/Orton is a really cool setup for a Mania M.E. Course they didn't set it up to be Heel vs. Heel(or did they, watching the Chamber now and whoever booked/agented that show is a genius. Double A I'm sure helped). They really are going to let the crowd do their thing at Mania. I for one am a strong proponent that the WWE world title(especially the 1st year that its undisputed) should main event, NO matter what. So what if the fans go crazy, it'll be a memory like Brock/Berg. If not...that's much much worse. That's when you enter Jericho/H & Orton/H levels, and this match does have that possibility.
-
Nice finally got a big box to write in, thanks Loss I guess? Anyway didn't Rock bring the buys, like wasn't WM29 the most bought show in history? I like the idea of the double turn with Orton/Batista. Mostly becauSe Batista as a heel is just gold, and Orton as a heel just doesn't compare to his 2007-2009 run where he was kicking everyones head off.
-
I am kind of bummed that Danielson isn't sneaking into the WWE heavyweight title match somehow. I think he really needs to fight Triple H in a singles match, which really could be a classic in itself(haters be damned, whoever made that thread where they claim Virgil or Brian Adams or Paul Roma is better than Trips because they had a few watchable sprints on WCW Saturday Night that 4 people saw.) If Bryan beats him, he gets into the Title match, if he loses no more Title shots or something like that. That way the Main Event, 1st Undisputed Title match in 12 years doesn't get boo'd out of the building and the fans get what WE want. Yes
-
It just might. I do believe that we are spoiled by the volume of awesome Indy based talent(Cesaro, Rollins, Danielson, formerly Punk, Ambrose, soon to be Generico etc) mixed with Top Shelf homegrown talents(Brock, Cena and Ziggler) mix in some all time "Legends" at times like Taker, Big Show, Goldust, Rey Jr, Jericho and Mark Henry. I'm rambling but for instance, watching the Rumble this year, I literally was a mark for like 24 or 25 of the guys in the match. It's just almost too many good matches that it's hard to really pick out the "Great Ones". WWE is just missing the excitement factor of either the Hogan "golden age" or The Attitude/MN Wars era to really push them back into the mainstream.
-
Hey guys it's Loss' opinion. If he think The Elimination Chamber 2014 is the #3 match in WWE history then good for him. Differing opinions are cool and that's what makes this board rule. Just like I think that (mexico based) Lucha sucks, that Jerry Lawler and Buddy Rose are vastly overrated workers here, that Dynamite Kid is one of the best pound for pound workers of all time and that TNA has had some of the Top 10 best matches in the past 25 years. I think he may be caught up in the excitement of the night of course(since the 6 man was ****3/4, EC would be *****). It's hard for me to fathom it being better than Cena-Punk MITB, Cena-Brock, Brock-Punk, Savage-Steamboat, Bret-Hennig KOTR, Austin-Rock WM17, Taker-Shawn HIAC & WM 25, Brock-Eddy or any of my top 20 WWE matches of all time BUT any given show can create the GOAT match. Anyway I value his opinion and am super pumped to check out these two top matches. And Batista-Orton be damned, I'm excited for Mania. Crazy that Batista is only 3 years younger than Hogan was in 2002 when he became champion.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
rvd356 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I honestly haven't seen the Storm/Harris Death match but damned if I'm not gonna check it out now cuz I've heard about it for years. Same with Foley/Flair but I really liked their Summerslam '06 match and that's another reason I like TNA overall if I'm looking at all 12 years as once: the Legends/Veterans get to have feuds and matches that WWE would just not do for whatever reason(they don't make money). But that's just it, I don't care if TNA makes millions in profit. I keep hearing this reasoning for why they are the "worst promotion ever". I'm not a panda energy shareholder or a Carter family member so I'm down with them infusing a fraction of their earnings into the only other free wrestling show on TV. In comparison to the other truly shit feds I named, I would bet good money they never ever had a matchon the caliber of Samoa Joe/AJ Styles, Bobby Roode/Austin Aries or LAX/Daniels & Styles. I'd even throw in AWF and Global into this category of "not as good as TNA's best". About Raven/Rhyno: I actually remember kinda liking it. It was a fun, harlmess garbagy brawl. And Most of all it was a *clear* alternative to WWE's PPV main event that month; Kurt Angle vs John Cena. And you can compare the rest of the card too. Daniels/Joe/StylesX title match blew WWE's midcard(IC) title match(Flair/Carlito) out of the water, yet Abyss/Sabu was run of the mill, where it's counterpart, Matt Hardy/Edge cage match was a near classic. Up and down the card you can compare matches but it just comes down to being an alternative to your common WWE. Now of course that was TNA in it's "glory years" and 2014 is a different story. Nowadays WWE is picking up all the awesome Indy talent and making it their own: Danielson, Cesaro, Generico, Tyler Black, Moxley, Sydal which has been the #1 reason that WWE has been having so many kickass matches recently. TNA had that market cornered and now WWE has jumped in the game and snatched around 10 awesome talents that could have made TNA awesome too, but Dixie is too worried about getting her heel character over to worry about, you know, the wrestlers. -
Poor Nelson Frazier passed away from an apparent heart attack. Seriously I actually loved this guy. Not so much jobber Viscera BUT I loved '93-'95 babyface rapper Mabel. He was a lot of fun anD damn if his spinkick wasn't great. "King Mabel" well he was just miscast in that role. Fast forward 10 years to his repackaging as "Big Daddy V" and damn that was an awesome character. With the black tights/suspenders,crazy scary upper body and the full blacked out sleeve tattoos...I mean THAT was a unique wrestling character. I noticed watching the Rumble 2014 match that there isn't much variety in looks. His best run of his career was definitely his WWECW monster heel run. I loved the hardcore matches with Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney where he just smashed through them. Also I believe him & Punk had a fun match on ECW and Taker/V had a good bout on Smackdown. Also going way back I liked the Taker/V casket match from In Your House 5 in 1995 and kinda liked the V/Taker feud compared to the abortion that was the Diesel feud. Also like Men on a Mission vs. The Quebecers from Wrestlemania X a lot. Oh and vs Jeff Jarrett @ Summerslam '94. RIP Big Vis

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
rvd356 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
C'mon 'Worst Promotion Ever'? On the same planet that WOW, GLOW, XPW and MLW all existed on? TNA may be bad and bad 80% of the time but the other 20% of the time they are having great matches and or good enough feuds. I could name 100 great TNA matches. Just a few(all different styles too, not just X division stuff either). AJ Styles vs. Psicosis vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Low Ki - TNA PPV #2, X Title finals, round robin match AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Raven - TNA PPV 2003, NWA Title Michael Shane vs. Kazarian vs. Chris Sabin - Ultimate X I AJ Styles vs. Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin - Final Resolution 2005, Ultimate X Title AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels - Against All Odds 2005, 30 Minute Iron Man match AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe - Sacrifice 2005, X Title shot Raven vs. Rhyno - Unbreakable 2005, NWA Title, No Holds Barred AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christoper Daniels - Unbreakable 2005, 3 Way X Title match Sabu vs Abyss - Turning Point 2005, Barbed Wire AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe LAX vs. Styles/Daniels - Tag Titles, Ultimate X & Cage Match Jump ahead... Sting vs. Kurt Angle - Bound For Glory 2007 Kurt Angle vs Scott Steiner - 2007 PPV? Scott Steiner vs Samoa Joe - No Surrender 2008(? Not sure about the PPV exactly but it was Steiner being Steiner and his best match since WCW folded Kevin Nash vs Samoa Joe - Turning Point 2008 Kevin Nash vs Aj Styles - Victory Road 2009(Great big vs. Little match, both matches were Nashs' best since the 1st WWF run) I could go on all day but basically there's been way too many great matches in the history of TNA to call it the 'worst promotion ever'. Joe had one of the best run's 05/06 of great matches and great booking of any wrestler of all time, despite what happened in '07 and on. He was easily my favorite wrestler on the planet. AJ Style & Daniels carved out great careers they would never have had in WWE( or WCW maybe had it stayed open). LAX was THE best tag team of the last decade, barring maybe the Hardy Boys for longeity and influence. But easily #2 with the best tag team gimmick(Konnan was easily the best tag team manage of the decade also). Steiner and Nash actually got to be themselves and have good matches unlike in WWE. And last of all we got a decade more of full time Sting for all of us old WCW fans. Basically like the 2nd run of Shawn Michaels but with Sting. Way more than we thought we would get, and way better than we thought we would get. If you actually watched TNA for the past 12 years, you would see a lot of good stuff. -
This is such a huge loss to me. Say what you will about his babyface character, but in my opinion he had the top 3 WWE matches last year: vs. Undertaker, vs. Brock & vs. Cena on Raw. Sure other guys will step up but his big matches will be sorely missed. But on the flip side he will blow the roof off the joint when he returns.
-
Oh yeah. Unified WWE title Chamber match + Shield/Wyatts bad ass heel six man makes me a potential buyer for this show even. Pretty pumped on the roster right now. The only glaring issue is "The Authority" which consists of what now, Triple H, Steph and Kane? Why didn't they just call it "The Corporation". 1 million times better and fitting name, and it's still as relevant of a word as it was in 1999. But I guess they have to be cutesy and take the idea from one of the hipster writers that typed it up on their Mac Book Pro inbetween tweeting. Fuck!

Dammit I hate not having cable(or tv service of any kind!) When I catch up on the credit cards and dental/medical work I am getting some basic cable so I can watch the damned buildup to Mania and would like to buy this one(last one I got was 19 for $35 and when it went to $35 for 17 I was disgusted but still bought 17, 18, 19 cuz I was diehard back then. But when it jumped to 50 for WM20 I tapped out. Any idea what WM30 in standard definition will cost???) Bought the show, will watch it online because the idiot on SKeiths blog gave Bryan/Orton ****3/4, saying it should have been the Mania main event and I am intrigued. But I have a feeling I will be sorely dissapointed like when I rushed out to see the ***** Richards/Elgin match which I did not even like. I did see Elgin/Steen ROH title match and really liked it though as I like both those guys a lot. Sooo off topic. How bout that Chamber match though? Orton, Cena, Sheamus, Cesaro, Bryan and Christian(Random??) Love the fact that there's 1 WWE World Heavyweight Champion although I forget it all the time when reading results. I haven't been paying too close attention. What's the odds Brock sneaks into the WWE title match? Even though it would bomb like Berg/Brock I still want to see Brock/Dave. If they go through with Orton/Dave on last for the title, I just can't see it turning out well.
-
Wow I've been waiting years for them to bring in KENTA. He's been one of my favorites for the past decade or so, ever since I got into Puro. Of course he would have to tone down the stiffness but he has the tools to impress a crowd and get a following just based on his ring work. First of all the Go 2 Sleep is back open as a finisher but honestlt I think his Flying Stomps would get over in just a few weeks. Especially the one where the opponent is laying on the ropes kinda like a 619 position. But ya definitely don't want him as a joke guy like Taka, Funalo and Tajiri became. He needs a good hype man like Heyman also.
