  1. I don't think the analogy is looking at Picasso's brush strokes. I think the analogy is looking at how effective Picasso's brush strokes were in one of his lesser paintings. You're completely separating input and output as if they're distinct from each other but they're not. People looking at input are looking at the output to find the input.
  2. Ha! You jinxed it. Amazingly nobody else of mine has dropped since Trish.
  3. Super Astro was in serious consideration for me, I'm sad that I couldn't find a place for him. He's so cool.
  4. From someone looking from the outside (of puro fandom) I think it was Dave's coverage that lead to people beyond hardcore puro/NJ fans getting into it. Not in the sense of people being sheep and rating things because he does (although that too) but simply because Dave's coverage just lead to greater awareness of what was going on and pushing the idea that it's something people should watch.
  5. I'm pretty sure I also called Koshinaka dropping off when we went through the SC list a month or so ago. Basically because I have never heard anyone talk about him or pimp him or say they'd put him in their 100. He was a total afterthought through the process. I'd have been way more surprised if he was any higher.
  6. I think I said this on the podcast, but the way I come at Great Match Theory is that, for the purposes of this project I'm looking at guys and what they can do. What they are capable of, at their best, really looking at the positives. Sometimes, what I find is great work on a micro level, or great work in terms of what they input into matches, or the easiest way for me to express why they're great is through analysing their input. And then sometimes, what I find, or the easiest way to express why they're great is to point to a list of great matches. Sometimes it's both, sometimes it's other things. But in the battle between input and output, I think I value them equally. It just depends on the wrestler, both what kind of wrestler they are and how much I've watched of them and how I've watched them. I don't think a guy who's greatest capability is "having a lot of great matches" is any more or less great on principle than a guy who's greatest capability is "all the things he brings to matches". In the end it's just a matter of who I like more. Well, rate more. But all the ways in which guys can prove their greatness are valid, I think.
  7. Was that Dump who ranked in 2006 Grimmas? Girlies are dropping like flies.
  8. I take full responsibility.
  9. Also I popped HUGE on the JBL GIF. That is one of my like top 5 skits of all time.
  10. Yeah I like Yamada and she almost made my list too. Harsh drop off, but it speaks to how joshi itself has fallen off compared to the last ballot.
  11. My guess is that it's a woman. Boom. On Dolph, he was a really good and consistent TV worker from late 2009 to maybe the end of 2013 or early 2014. The Rey match was his coming out party, and he was watchable until he ran out his welcome as a babyface after however long. He also has many really good and great matches along the way as well, like the Alberto double turn match, the aforementioned Rey match, the many Orton matches in 2011 and the many Sheamus matches in 2012. The Cena matches. Edge at the Rumble. The Bryan matches. And so on. He gets shit on now because at the moment and for the last couple years he's been kind of horrid. But before that...there's meat there if you're into that kind of Smackdown worker. Having said that, I didn't vote for him. Actually the only people of mine to come up so far are Kofi, Trish, Roberts and Pat Roach. And by the way, me being the high vote for Pat Roach tells me that all of you motherfuckers need to start watching Pat Roach. Perrito was one of my very last cuts, so I'm glad he got onto some ballots.
  12. Johnny I'm hilarious. How dare you. Kamala, Survival Tobita and Davey Richards is the wackiest trios team that we'll never see. Somehow for this board it seems those positions should be reversed though. I'm more surprised that Heenan got on as many as 14 ballots. But I guess how many of those were in the 95-100 spot?
  13. I so hope Paul, whoever he is, has to rock that picture of Rush now.
  14. Finally finished this whole thing up last night, excellent job guys. Love that it came from two very different places as fans, but then met at a common point. Poetry.
  15. Utter insanity. And that's me saying that.
  16. Felt this was my best choice under the GWE Wacky Photo Policy.
  17. Parv doesn't really like dives but.
  18. In that case I'm dying to meet the other Trish voter. And yeah, want to thank Steven again for trying to accommodate us by withholding this until the planned podcast reveal. Alas, technology has foiled us. Instead, tune into the podcast when it drops to hear all of the people I had below her.
  19. Kofi Kingston motherfuckers!
  20. Ajana oh fuck yes, I was confused because of the moment when Nattie confides in Alicia and says "I'm so pissed at Naomi!" and Alicia cracks it and can't stop rofling and Nattie has this "fuck you" face.
  21. I like that they think they need to remind people to woo when Flair is around.
  22. Actually looking at the list, apart from the couple of people I voted for, so far there is literally nobody listed who was even on my radar. I either voted for someone or didn't even consider them for my list The closest I got was nominating Octagon and Mistico, both of whom I was never going to vote for, I just wanted the discussion and felt they should be nominated. Glad other people got on board though. I love me some flippy bags of laundry.
  23. I'd argue AMW are almost the biggest highlight of TNA in 2003. Like you say they were a fresh, young team, which comes off well in comparison to the WCW relics hanging around, and they were also a really good working team, who had good matches with everyone from young spotty guys to the Brian Lees of the world. The XXX matches are great. Naturals matches are great.
  24. I think I feel the same way about Yoshinari Ogawa. I can't wait to see how high he gets and how many puro badasses he beats.
