Everyones said similar things in private conversations with buddies, I mean stand up comics do it all the time. WWE just fired him so they didn't look bad and they handled that the wrong way they should have supported Hogan.
-
Im guessing had Hogan not defected to WWF in 83 that Sarge would have been the guy to beat Sheik.
-
TV audience should be the same if all they care or should I say all Russo cared was ratings.

A trope that never appears more ridiculous than that one episode of Raw where Austin gets arrested for attacking the nWo, only for Hogan to literally attempt vehicular homicide on The Rock later in the hour... with zero legal consequence. Thats bad. And I thought a heel taking a cheapshot on a handcuffed Face was bad. Just arrest both of them. -
Wrestlers who are BOTH Overrated and Underrated
iamthedoctor replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
Along those lines is Owen.. He's probably overrated for his 80s workrate-y stuff and underrated for his 90s character-driven heel stuff. Im more the opposite as I like his 80s stuff more than the 90s stuff. Perfect/Blazer at Mania I really love. The thing with Owen is he tends to get more love from fans after he passed away, he was a good wrestler but I really don't see him being World Champion had he not died. I think if he had gone with the Harts to WCW then maybe but WWE side deff not. -
Greatest Wrestling Promotion of all time?

It's not easy to find footage of a lot of the big matches from before the 90's. The 90's peak produced some universally loved classics, but a lot of it can be divisive due to how influential Toyota was on the overall style. Also they went out of business 15 years ago while NJPW is still producing great matches. Im not sure whats out there but thanks to Vince bringing in a few for the 95 Survivor Series match made me years later want to see who they wrestled and was glad I did, even suprised to see Madusa there I think must have been the 80s. I remember TWC over in the UK airing some womens Japan wrestling, can't remember the name off the top of my head just have visions of someone being slapped constantly in the intro. what yw=eat was that channel around is it was 2000-2005 it may well have been Gaea or jwp Yeah was GAEA. TWC aired and did a pre launch in 2003 where they repeated stuff for 3 months. Must have been 2004 time the launch probably a week before Mania when it started. I liked the stuff they showed but man it was annoying when they aired Shoots in 2 parts not because it was split in half but when they told you when the second part was on and then a diff wrestler got shown. I stopped watching around 2006 time but I remember reading it was closing down in 2008. -
I wish. Can't see it happenning but one last run Id want to see Hogan go over Strowman, Brock, Angle & Cena.
-
Many a time in 99 when the show went off the air Id be pissed off when the last moment was Vince screwing Austin or some other thing. Wish it had like the Network does where you see Stone Cold kicking ass. But why exactly did they have to send the fans home happy? They still get a entertaining show at the end of the day.

Owens is a great call. I do think a good chunk of his stint in WWE has been lazy and uninspired, but he's also not exactly turning in clunkers every single time either. Dude just gets in his own way too often with the chinlocks and trying to be "cute". But he's also had some legitimately really good stuff sprinkled here and there. Im suprised they actually let him beat Cena twice and win the US belt, he should have been kept on NXT instead. -

Id say favourite Iron man match had to be HBK/Bret but nowadays I won't watch half of it because I know the fall takes place after the 60 minute draw. So the one I would watch from start to finish has to be Benoit/HHH which was such a fun match they did on Raw, Steamboat/Rude would be a close second followed by Rhodes/Rude. I do like the ending of the Rock/HHH one but the match spoils itself for me because Hunter wins.

Im a big fan of the attitude era but god am I bloody sick of a bunch of fake cops having to arrest the good guy all the time just so the Heel gets some heat. -
I really hope the off air segments make the upload. Raw had so many and quite a few on Heat were filmed as highlights at times were shown on Raw so no excuses that they didnt film any. I seriously doubt they put up anything but the shows as aired. We could have said the same thing about Raw but they suprised us there. The Raws they uploaded have bonus footage or is the bonus footage somewhere else on the Network. Like if I throw on a Raw from 98, does it have a dark match thrown in or something? A lot of the Attitude Era Raws have an "extra attitude" segment usually just for the live crowd to send them home happy. I wish they had broadcasted them back in 1998 to send the TV viewers happy!

While NJPW is on most people's lists often wondered why AJW never gets the same love. -
Wrestlers who are BOTH Overrated and Underrated
iamthedoctor replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
He would for underrated but I don't think it's possible to overrate him. Watch this: In the 00s, he was still better than 3/4ths of the WWE roster! Well yeah and considering he's supposed to be Hunter's best friend it made no sense why they didn't give him the World Title when they had that match and the whole roster came down after the show. I mean they were willing to give Hulk the belt the other year due to fan reaction so figured in the modern era Ric would have got the belt even if just for that night. -

Would Ric Flair have a case of both of these categories? I know some fans find him over but I think some matches hes had are quite underrated. I can't think of any off the top of my head but im sure if you delved into his career there would be a few. -
In this day and age im suprised. Its supposed to be entertainment after all, some fans go a bit over the top. Still not as bad as the 70s and 80s when u hear stories of Piper or Funk getting stabbed.

PWInsider: Reports that WWE plans to add 104 episodes of Mid-Atlantic TV in May, which will finish that promotion’s run. They will add another 76 episodes of Mid-South in June and 50 episodes of WCW Saturday Night in July. They also have Sunday Night Heat ready to add whenever they choose, as well as additional WWE Coliseum Home Video titles later this year. 76 additional episodes of Mid South makes me happy. Having a tag team of Heat and Mid-Atlantic this month seems to be the best way to make everyone happy. Its a great selection even though id prefer Challenge/Superstars instead.

I deffinately agree with this. I like Shawn but Vince bigs him up a bit too much, if I was going to call someone Mr. Wrestlemania Id say Taker because of his win loss WM record. -
Greatest Wrestling Promotion of all time?
iamthedoctor replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
Greatest promotion of all time? Thats a tough one because I loved WWE & WCW and some moments for me stood out from the other like I prefer early 80s NWA but I like late 80s WWE, then it would be early to mid 90s WCW and late 90s WWE. Id say ECW comes in next because I liked the hardcore style they was putting together but couldn't decide this or USWA Dallas as remember watching it. NJPW for their alternavive style and gotta love some British wrestling from the 80s. 1. WWE (Just by a landslide) 2. NWA/WCW 3. ECW or USWA Dallas 4. NJPW 5. Joint Promotions -

I really should watch that Ironman match as I think its the only WWE one thats out there i've yet to see, I am suprised that they never did one at the TV tapings. The submission thing yeah didn't know that I remember when WWE bragged about Bret never losing a cage match either so when CHV was about I was suprised Yokozuna beat Bret in the cage. -
I mainly avoided TNA most of the time but the only time it did garner my interest was when Styles & Hardy wrestled each other.
-
I used to love long matches when I was younger but these days if I get bored of a match after a few mins ill skip it down to the last 5 minutes of a 30 min match. The only exception is a iron man match.

WWE 2001 February. Been quite interesting but man interference after interference in most matches. If this happened today there would be outrage.
