  1. Not such a fan of the Murdoch run personally, but as I stated above I loved the Williams teaming. Something you forgot to mention was how good a seller he was also, Jerry. Whether getting sympathy in the early days of his career or as a back peddler later on.
  2. I think your first instinct is right goc, he should jut block these trolls as he should be well above it. They are clearly just sad losers looking for attention.
  3. Didn't they have a 3PW match in Philly around this time or am I confusing things? I've been meaning to work through 3PW for better or worse, I remember a lot of strange / unique matches being booked which may be fun to revisit. Sean Waltman and Sabu had a fun match a decade after their tape trading classic which was fun at the time.
  4. Not much of a debate to be had here for me. Even the most ardent Jericho hater is going to find it hard to put forth an argument that Matt Hardy is better (in any regard) than Jericho which I could entertain.
  5. I've spoken of my penchant for Dibiase many times on this board. From his work in Houston, Japan, UWF and WWE... I rate him highly. His team with Steve Williams was fantastic. His character work in the WWE was some of the best of the 80's. When he was teamed with Rotunda to take some of the load off his injuries there were more great moments in the ring although they are consistently mentioned in the breathe of character workers: seek out the Money INC / Steiners cage match from 16/8/93 which was one of Ted's last (barring the cut short Japan return), it was excellent.
  6. I doubt they're too concerned with 2% of their audience thinking a tagline is old & worn out when Kane is being wheeled out for opening and closing segments week after week.
  7. It would depend on the rights issues. I have no idea what their situation is, but if they signed a distribution deal with Lions Gate for example (which I'm sure they did with the Kane film) this would include a term which will likely be for decades from what I understand about distribution, specifying the distribution rights. WWE wouldn't be able to sell the product to any other distributor or in this case, self distribute.
  8. I agree. Why buy the Mid-South/UWF library and not showcase it? How would they know how many people don't subscribe due to the lack of old footage unless they add more? What does it hurt by adding more of it? Makes zero sense unless it really is a space issue. I can't see it being a space issue. If it were, the random SD pre shows which NOBODY on the planet is going to revisit and content of a similar ilk would be gone. You'd think...
  9. Dynamite as Drago is blowing my mind...
  10. I'm no doctor, but I've always said he would be doing himself a favor by dropping weight to put less pressure on his knees and hips.
  11. It's safe to say without Verne and his influence / steering of talent, a lot of our favorite wrestling memories wouldn't exist. RIP.
  12. I like to listen to Jesse Ventura talk about conspiracies.
  13. I haven't heard Lanny confirm it, although he does speak kindly of Hulk. Warrior called bull shit of it when he did that massive shoot YouTube video on Hogan (the trailer for which was far better than the actual thing).
  14. I'm always more interested when two wrestlers don't get on but they have the same close mutual friends. Bret Hart used to speak kindly of Flair before things went to hell between them (they seem to get on now which is great to see). But they share a close mutual friend in Roddy Piper. I picture what that must be like. If I had two close friends who fell out with each other, I'd want them to patch it up. Other than Piper they were both close with Perfect also.
  15. "If you start watching again, maybe I could come visit your house in the burbs and watch wrestling on your big screen TV, all the while catching a naughty glimpse of your wife."
  16. God, I remember sitting back watching her spout that nonsense at the time. Considering she was in her early 20's at the time, she came across as an utterly deluded young woman to make such a God awful, self indulgent comparison after such a horrific day in history.
  17. I thought it was a great show. I said a while back that I hoped the talent would go out there having heard the complains of what was poor build and feel determined to put out great performances and I think they did exactly that.
  18. Just finished watching it all, indeed a great show. Madusa was fantastic and she looked stunning. Dana Warrior is also painfully beautiful and she did such a great job of keeping strong through her speech. What is her background?
  19. But when has the company pushing those terms ever stated or implied it was due to "box office", or "main stream personality". They have always nodded to performance, spectacle, stealing the show, etc.
  20. If somebody made this claim to describe John Cena's legacy, it would be jumped upon.
  21. Impossible to say without a criteria... Match wise I'd say Michaels for sure. It's becoming increasingly more popular for people to make out as if the Shawn Michaels love is some sort of propaganda or conspiracy: but I'd like to know who touches his body of work in terms of longevity and match quality with a range of different opponents at that show. Hogan for me represents Wrestlemania. Without him we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  22. It was Terry Gordy as The Executioner. I think this was after Gordy had his stroke, so he probably wasn't able to do much. I'm guessing Vince brought him in as a favor to Michael Hayes. Ol' Doc was brand new to the company as a television performer only, so that can be ruled out as a reason if it were in fact Gordy.
  23. I won't lie, I was kind of looking forward to a train wreck.
  24. I'm not brave enough to be the one to start that war again. I could just start it and resign from the board I guess. Like farting on a train just before I exit. Anyway, it's going around the net that Eva Marie is hosting the HOF this year, replacing Jerry Lawler. Color me intrigued. A confusing choice would be a polite way of saying it.
  25. Somebody should make a thread about who had the better headliner, 2006 or 2008...
