  1. Not surprising, we all know folks who were stars in the 80s were the best workers Nice
  2. Patty Therre once wrote an amazing article about the importance of music in ECW in Power Slam magazine. I wish I had a copy to scan...
  3. AnarchistXX you have completely read my post wrong. There wasn't an analogy for a start. And if you don't "buy" me saying: Tell me categorically who of the above (from seemingly your own criteria of money made / positioning) made more money and was featured in more high profile matches - reasoning as to how he got there being irrelevant.
  4. Really? His run on top was a critical and commercial disaster. If it wasn't for Eddie Guerrero it would be remembered as the worst title reign in company history. And who says everything in wrestling needs to be judged by subjective reviews and box office? Some of my favourite CD's are probably from artists you've never heard of playing in coffee shops. Doesn't mean they're not super talented. Besides, this was a topic titled "Random out of the blue gimmicks". John going from an on its arse APA to JBL was certainly out of the blue and he himself (or because of the company, whatever way you want to look at it) achieved the most objective success out of the aforementioned gentlemen.
  5. I've been vocal about the HOF in general. Like a lot of HOF's across many forms of entertainment and sports the choices are baffling and the criteria is ambiguous. Therefore I've never understood when people get upset and endlessly debate things. That being said ( ) my feelings on the Bushwackers going in are that they were a very popular tag team during the peak of their run. The sort of personalities parents of kids would remember. Was never a fan of the Sheepherders work or style, but the role they were cast in within the WWF they did well. Should they be in the HOF? I'd say no. But this particular HOF I'm confident most people will get a go around. This is the induction that also makes me think now more than ever, Tatanka will go in.
  6. This should include JBL, and frankly he should walk it. The most successful over night repackaging of a long term mid carder I can think of.
  7. Didn't enjoy the show. Wrestlemania isn't looking good on paper this year at all. A very forced "dream match", a dubious main event as it stands which the crowd is likely to shit on... We'll have to wait to see how it pans out over the next few weeks.
  8. Hmm, could be interesting. Could be vomit inducing. I predict a mixture of both but will certainly read it.
  9. Yeah around 2005 time if I recall. Only sparingly watching UFC at the best of times, I didn't know who he was. I just remember seeing the headlines "WWE want Goldberg" and getting excited for a Bill return.
  10. I miss Chris Sievey :-(

  11. I disagree with this. The IC title has been made to feel very important by the performers and the promotion in the past (granted a very long time ago). Watching KOTR 93 on the Network the other day, they put over the importance of that tournament and made it a huge deal - Savage on commentary even harped on about how it was "equal footing to the world title". So they can do it when it suits, sadly in the current climate it's scarce.
  12. Depends how much stock you put in the "he was going to get the Umaga gimmick" argument. If that was on the cards for Joe, I'd say he made the wrong move, long term.
  13. Even a Cena heel turn wouldn't shock as much as Undertaker losing and that's the closest thing I can think of in terms of today's television product.
  14. I'd approve that.
  15. I'm hoping for Rusev to steal a win leading Cena to go all "Lex Express" in the run up to a Wrestlemania rematch.
  16. Dr. Chris Amann performs on WWE programming as a character named Dr. Chris Amann. Wouldn't that make him a public figure? Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you with Exhibit A:
  17. It's a subjective issue; he can think / feel whatever he wants and that's that.
  18. The Network is almost a year old now. It's a shame the vast majority of archive content hasn't changed much since launch on reflection.
  19. "I don't recall the details"

    Current WWE

"Better than ever at 69"? I think it would be hilarious if the editorial portion was just about how great Vince is in the sack these days... Keep the dream alive!
  21. What time frame are we talking about here, out of curiosity? If I had to narrow it down I'd say 65 / 66 to see some of the Mike Dibiase and Dory Sr broadways.
  22. Oh, no doubt about it. Back in 2005 Joe really was seen as a special guy with huge potential. That was a long, long time ago though.
  23. I always felt that if AJPW didn't have Muta around in the mid to late 2000's, the promotion would have been in far more of a dire position. I'd also credit him for helping bring Japanese wrestling up to the times more.
  24. Dory Funk Sr's Texas promotion. Footage was filmed and certain people claim to have it, but I've never seen anything outside of a couple of bits here and there. With so many great talents at a young age passing through there as well as veteran talents at the end of their lines.
  25. The Fabulous Rats, perhaps.
