The State of Pro Wrestling in North America, 1991-1996
Sidebottom replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in Pro Wrestling
Also for the "it was 1992" list, but check out the 2:00 minute mark of this: which is pretty damn dark for the time period. -
Yup, this is why I bawk at people who diminish DiBiase in the WWF for his run, esp 89 -91. He had both down.

I would love to see the photographs that Bret swears were taken, and explains in enough clarity for me to believe is true, of the two doing a tug of war over the belts in the Spring of 1993 to be used to market a Summerslam match. But if the two had met in 1993, I can't picture a scenario where Bret isn't worse off for it. My gut tells me Hogan would have worked circles around Bret, the two would have been playing different games in the ring, and Hogans game would result in the crowd on his side which would have been terrible for Bret's chances of being used in a top spot again.

Saturday Night's Main Event Appreciation
Sidebottom replied to The Following Contest's topic in Pro Wrestling
Jesse and Vince may be my favourite commentary duo in WWF/E history. And they really shone on this show, it was perfect commentary for the time period. -
Same here, specifically the 1992 era, I loved that.

Bob showed up in Poughkeepsie in 2000 at an ECW event trying to raise money and security chucked him out. Steve Corino referenced it in a promo on the following PPV (Massacre in Dec 2000 I think). The incident is partly seen on one of the RF fancams I have in my loft, haven't gotten around to converting ECW post 1999 yet.

For Trish and her efforts with Stacy on some random Raw or for the poster trying to make it work? Either way...

Liking the new content uploads! I never knew Shawn Michaels was the face of the AWA though, what with his face being on the majority of the pins

I think he was 15 by the time he got to All Japan

Tatanka has signed a Legends deal apparently, so wouldn't be surprised to see him go in. Expect moaning from people who think it's a legitimate HOF and not just media content.

Survivor series 1990 an alternative egg hatching
Sidebottom replied to Judy Bagwell's topic in Pro Wrestling
Nothing could have worked. Nothing. -
Jerry has been throwing that fire ball for five decades, I don't think there has been any sort of issue with it. It's just a smoke and mirror effect, it's not like he was holding a lighter to Funk's face or something daft, I have no issue with it personally.

LMAO at that car! That's hilarious!

If you start arguing with your tag team partner, just divorce before things get nasty.

I love that match!

I thought it was a poor episode personally (not dismissing your opinion at all though). It just seemed very thrown together like it could have been in a drive through. I couldn't even tell whether it was a real restaurant? That aside, just wasn't a fan of the content. I much prefer it when they just talk about wrestling for the whole time, and when it's wrestlers I care about. I can't see them doing a better one than last weeks with Vader / Sting / Dallas.

Definitely enjoyed it but failed to meet admittedly incredibly high expectations. Also some very noticeable editing and jump cuts here. DDP Yoga plugs probably. Does anybody know the date of the Nitro with the DDP / Sting awkwardness which was referenced?

Little Known Facts, Speculations, Scandals and Wrestling Trivia
Sidebottom replied to Fantastic's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not little known as it was widely reported at the time, but it rarely gets mentioned these days: That's from Wiki, I believe he also struck a female officer. Rey Mysterio stated it was like witnessing somebody have an outer body experience. -
No expressing how gutted I am the advertised KOTR 10 minute match between Michaels and Hart with the foundation cuffed to every ring post didn't happen. That would have been bags of fun, and would have been interesting to see Bret the heel against Michaels the face at that time.

First guy that came to mind. I loved the way he would take a great beating, sell it beautifully, then slowly start the engine again to an offensive climax, usually with the crowd right behind him.

- WCW has the best roster on the planet - WCW has far bigger stars than WWF - Stone Cold Steve Austin doesn't get going with Hart - No screwjob, no Mr McMahon, no endless debates. - DX doesn't get the white heat they got. - No Bret heel turn, no great 1997 run, no WM13 classic. - Assumingly, Bret would have shown up as a face in WCW. Or would he have joined the nWo in the fall of 96? It's all very Sliding Doors, but I can't help but feel the wrestlign world would be a very different place right now, had Bret have made the jump in 1996... What do you think the immediate landscape would have been like, and what would have come of it?
