I mean, they did that entire tournament and just put the belt back on Carter, so that's fairly terrible, but sadly pretty low on the list of dumb shit they've done.

The 85-86 Bruno cage matches are terrific. I love the MSG one with Santana v. Savage and Adonis (who bump like crazy for him) and the one at the Spectrum with Orndorff v. Piper and Orton is also a great brawl.

For what it's worth, I've taken photos with Colt a couple of times, and he's never asked for money.

[1990-10-27-WWF-Superstars] Update: Rick Rude suspended indefinitely!

I believe they mostly did end up having a Heenan Family member sub in. Haku or Barbarian, I think.- 13 replies

Interestingly, went to the WWE show at MSG on Saturday night with my wife, and seeing the Miz's reaction, she was surprised he's not further up the card. And I tend to agree. On the mouthpiece concept, I think Miz could be brilliant in a role sort of like Kevin Sullivan in the Varsity Club - where he's manipulating and leading the gang of credible guys, acting as the mouthpiece, and the guy that the face gets to in the end.

Burn 10,000 calories watching Midnight Express matches on the treadmill.

I find Ross intolerable without a partner. He has zero personality when he's not reacting to someone else (which he's excellent at, frequently).

Ole had done commentary (perhaps on Worldwide?) not long before this, but only for an episode or two, I think.

Technically, they have all of 1993 through 1995 and the second RAW of 1996 and are working through 2000. But, the 1/1/96 RAW Bowl is still missing. They are also still missing a couple at the end of 1999.

Isn't Brock much more likely to get cheers against Roman than Cena? Cena-Reigns would be 50-50, and they could sell it as two titans colliding and the fans being torn (sort of a Hogan-Warrior for a new generation). Brock would be the babyface in front of a hardcore crowd, no doubt.

Shit, I'm still down for ECW nostalgia. Maybe it'll never die for me.

These chairs matches are the worst. Painful without having a point.

Late 1989, although they still frequently taped at Center Stage.

The smaller circuit would have compounded JCP's fundamental problem for the era - the way they ran TV burned through angles far too fast. Vince's TV went through angles at a much slower pace, was much more stingy in showing stars (Flair was on TV every week and the RnRs wrestled every week; Hogan was not on TV every week and Demolition would be on TV maybe every other week). This allowed him to sustain house show programs for a much longer time, key in an era where he was starting to hit towns other than NY and Boston at a much slower rate. Staying on the smaller circuit would have forced Crockett to keep doing territorial style TV to consistently build new angles. Of course, they ended up doing that, and as other posters have pointed out, they were doing it without the influx of talent that the territorial system provided. So they burned through angles but didn't have new stars on top. There's no way they could have run Greensboro any more frequently. Crockett would have survived if he had adjusted his company and his product to the new era that was being created by cable television in an effective way. But that's like saying, "Crockett would have survived if he had the business acumen of Vince McMahon." He didn't, and no fantasy booking is going to fix that.

Honestly believe that Andre was basically justified in his feud too. AND DiBiase was. I covered this in great detail on a show once. But essentially Tunney screwed him. Orndorff too. When you watch the build to it, Hogan is just a total asshole and Paul comes off as totally right to be pissed at him.

Didn't GTV reveal that his woman was setting him up? Speaking of... GTV might be the biggest loophole/unsolved mystery of them all. Was GTV resolved as Just Joe?

[1990-03-24-NWA-Worldwide] Interview: Ole Anderson & Minnesota Wrecking Crew II
Migs replied to Loss's topic in March 1990
This came up in some old Observers I was reading - Enos and Bloom were on loan from Verne and he didn't want them doing jobs on TV, since they were still his tag champs.- 11 replies

Oh man, we are so close to them needing to tape new episodes and getting to see how absurd their current roster is. Morbidly curious.

Note how that AWA footage seems to dry up right after the Hogan jump.
