Me too. Unless I'm missing something, sounds like three free months?

Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
The Chief replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Don't forget, Hogan really wanted to work Bret in WCW but Bret got concussed. You know, two years after Bret arrived. In all fairness, you know what to expect from a Hogan interview at this stage. The road stories were entertaining enough. -
So any chance Cena gets written off TV tonight? The fact that they've named all of the usual challengers as possibilities might mean something different is going to happen...

I like booking matches like Owens vs Sin Cara. All we've been seeing these past few months are the same guys fighting each other in tags and singles over and over again, mix things up a bit. Nitro used to be good about doing that.
-
Honestly this show was pretty dull. Nothing bad but everything except Jericho Owens I've seen 20 times in the past few weeks. Mix up your pairings. And I miss the Brock Lesnar who actually wrestled matches. Suplex city Brock is fast forward material.

Over the hill wrestlers working for rival newspaper companies sounds like a tremendous sitcom

Oh, I don't see him going up the card at all, but I do wish they'd re-tool it a little bit. He has a great insincere smile and he sounds like a motivational speaker, but I'd like to see them dial it up way, way more. Give the guy a headset mic and have him give a copy of his latest audiobook to fans as he walks to the ring. Hold seminars with other wrestlers where he condescends to them about how their lives and careers have fallen apart. That sort of thing. That gimmick requires more of a cult of personality than he has. Frank TJ Mackey would be an incredible gimmick
-
I love Bo Dallas the gimmick but he is honestly one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen. I've never seen somebody fuck up such simple things as often as he does. Redman is right, the gimmick saved his ass and he's exactly where he should be.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
The Chief replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Nobody even talks about this company anymore, I never see recaps or results or discussion of any kind. Who is even still a part of their active roster? It's amazing that a year after a pretty convincing death blow, they're still here. -
I really don't want to see Austin, a guy who retired due to "a stack of dimes problem" wrestle somebody who's entire offense is based on dumping people on their heads.
-
Sheamus might actually be the oddest winner of all-time since they started placing importance on the match. Usually a winner falls into three categories: He's a can't-miss future star of the company (Austin in 1998, Batista in 2005, Reigns) He's an underdog going against all odds (Shawn in 1996, Rey, Benoit) He's returning from injury/layoff (HHH, Batista 2014, Edge, Cena 2008) Sheamus didn't fit into any of those categories. He had just turned face in the Summer and lost his feud with Henry. While Henry, Big Show & Bryan were the focus of the title picture, Sheamus was in meaningless TV feuds with Jinder Mahal and Wade Barrett. That one still confuses me.

They really like using the "PIPE BOMB" for the girls

Sting wasn't really mentioned at all on TV, just the fact that Rollins beat him. No mention of an injury. Did we ever find out what happened?

For a second there I thought that was Drake Younger.

Yeah, I dont know if he was sleeping but he was impaired. Eddie claimed that when he flew out of the car, years of protecting his falls made him instinctively tuck and roll. If he didn't then there's a good chance he could have smacked the pavement head first.
-
I just thought about this post: a friend who is a wrestler in Mexico was in a motorcycle accident this morning (a truck rammed him and the impact sent him flying) and rolling lucha bumps 101 muscle memory has saved him from going head or face first on the pavement. His bike has been totalled - he's fine and will only be out for a few days with a sore knee and a bruised leg. Glad your friend's ok. Eddie Guerrero has told a very similar story about his 1999 car accident. When he was ejected from the car he stated a lifetime of knowing how to fall at the drop of a dime is probably the only thing that kept him from getting paralyzed or worse.

the old metal snobs i used to occasionally socialize with would say "Pantera is real metal?" LOLZ. As opposed to? Slayer, Exodus (I'm thoroughly amazed "Toxic Waltz" hasn't been used), Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Venom, Bathory, Mayhem, Death, Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, Exhumed, Suffocation, Disgorge, Skinless, Cryptopsy, Anaal Nathrakh, etc. As far as real metal goes, post-Cowboys Pantera has far more in common with crap like Trapt than they do Carcass (and I like Pantera). The sentiment, though, is accurate. ECW's use of modern music helped them stand out and there's no excuse to not ask the talent what they listen to or at least have the music department pay attention to the charts. Agree with the hate of video game entrances. Dana is one of the best examples of why it's terrible, her little dance routine done a dozen times in the course of a minute or two. Of course, she's also terrible all around, but that's another issue. Uggh. Those aren't all death bands but I know the type. "Death & Black Metal is the only metal!" types are the lowest form of life. I think wrestling just needs a wide variety of music. The mid-2000's was probably the worst period ever for WWE entrance music but it's slowly getting better. I don't feel that they need to necessarily get with the times as wrestling by nature is campy. Give me Tyler Breeze signing his own entrance music over pleasing the Pitchfork crowd any day of the week. But I do agree you should draw from aspects of that.

Wrestling needs more real metal. Not nu-metal tripe. RVD coming out to Pantera was the coolest shit ever.

I think Mick Foley described Jake the best in his book. A guy who talks about the old days with a little too much reverence. No matter how much he's changed.
-
Fuck it, I love ether. Makes total sense. Chicken shit heel has to chemically inebriate a guy because he's too much of a coward to beat him by normal means.

Loyalty be damned, in a nice bit of continuity, King still sticks up for Jarrett. Was the lip synching this bad on the original broadcast? This is petty.
