  1. I'll be honest, I sorta burned my out on this with the draft and roll out and then I jumped back into collecting and watching stuff for the GWE project. I plan to update my results thread and post some TV in a few weeks. I might even come up with a kayfabe explanation for the absence.

    Ron Garvin

Are these notes for matches recommended for 80's Yearbook sets or are they notes for a Georgia 80's comp?
  3. Are these all the Terry Funk-Jack Brisco singles matches out there? 1973 - Terry Funk vs. Jerry Brisco (Clipped Silent Film) (St. Louis, MO) 1975.10.12 - Jack Brisco vs Terry Funk (Clipped Silent Film) (Miami, FL) 1975.12.10 - Jack Brisco vs. Terry Funk (Clipped Silent Film) (Florida) 1976.3.26 - Terry Funk vs. Jack Brisco (Clipped Silent Film) (St. Louis, MO)

    Mick Foley

I like Foley. I'll keep watching his matches until I've seen them all, he's just one of those guys for me. I don't see him as this great wrestler, by any means. He never had one really great run, but he damn sure had his moments and a handful of great matches along the way. Foley's a bottom 50 guy for me since he wasn't good every time he wrestled, but had some good enough stuff to make him an all timer.

    Undertaker

There isn't much about the gimmick or the worker I enjoy out of a 20 year run, outside of his matches with Bret, Shawn, and Foley. Not a chance.
  8. His squashes and promos are the highlight of the 1983 GCW TV I'm working my way through. (Les Thornton and Dory Jr. have also been pretty impressive in that setting. In fact, there's an unlisted Dory Jr. squash that I will need to upload for Parv at some point.) Of course Buzz has a number of great matches in Mid-South and not much else to hang his hat on. I'd almost have to include him based on the strength of the Duggan matches and honestly I value a good squash just about as anything, I just can't help but feel that if we had more footage of longer matches, he'd be compared to Kurt Angle more often than not. As it stands, I have no evidence to back up my theory there, so to his benefit, he falls more into the Brock Lesnar category.

    Owen Hart

I have no idea where to place Owen at this point. He is easily one of my favorite guys to watch, but his resume seems very thin. He won't make the list based on the Great Match Theory. Does he make it based on consistency? I've put together a playlist of stuff outside of his King of Hearts run: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOB9m8GniF3vqy9Q0d4mmrUDJH9hI-mkS
  10. Oh man. I wonder if they've even thought about music rights.
  11. Checklist of ways to make this better: - make matches view-able in both 16:9 and the original 4:3 - have an option for no commentary on matches where there was no original commentary I'd also suggest they upload entire cards at a time and provide some historical context to the events.
  12. Stampede Wrestling presents Wrestling At The Corral July 8, 1983 at the Stampede Corral in Calgary, Alberta (Airdate: 7/9/83) This week's episode is a special two hour "Wrestle Rodeo Spectacular" edition in celebration of the annual Calgary Stampede. The show opens with footage from last week, as Bruce Hart is carried out on a stretcher after being burned with a fireball by Jimmy Hart. 1. NWA Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship: Bruce Hart © vs. Hiro Saito w/ Shunji Takano and KY Wakamatsu All the Harts are gathered in the ring, with Bruce heavily bandaged. In a very emotional moment, Bruce forfeits the match and hands the title over to Saito, who runs over to Wakamatsu and Takano as they celebrate like school girls. Winner - Hiro Saito (New NWA Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Champion) @ 0:00 via forfeit. Ed Whalen introduces NWA Ambassador Gene Kiniski, who tells Saito not to get too comfortable because even though he was given the title without winning it, he'll have to defend it right now against The Cobra! 2. NWA Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship: Hiro Saito © w/ Shunji Takano and KY Wakamatsu vs. The Cobra The Cobra runs in and starts off like a house of fire. He knocks Wakamatsu off the apron and sends Takano packing. Then Cobra hits Saito with a series of highspots. Saito comes back with eye gouging and hair pulling. He controls for a few minutes, wearing Cobra down with power moves and then stretching him out. Cobra makes the comeback when Wakamatsu's kendo stick misses and hits Saito in the face, busting him open. Cobra works the cut, sending Saito to the outside and hitting a huge plancha. They come back in the ring, and Tanako looks to draw the DQ to save the title, but Cobra knocks him out of the ring again. Saito gets a low blow and hits a huge suplex. He sets Cobra up for a super plex to finish him, but Cobra sends Saito flying from the top rope and follows up with a moonsault to win the Championship! Winner - The Cobra (New NWA Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Champion) @ 12:34 with a moonsault. Commercials. Ed Whalen and Gene Kiniski run down the rest of the card for the show. They explain how Terry Funk has been banned from ever stepping foot in Stampede Wrestling by the NWA Board of Directors, and should Mr. Funk appear in Calgary anytime in the future, his status as a working member for the NWA will be revoked. 3. Davey Boy Smith w/ Dynamite Kid vs. "Ravishing" Randy Rose w/ Dennis Condrey This starts out as just Davey alone at ringside against Rose, but the interference from Condrey is so effective that Dynamite is forced to join his partner to even the odds. Rose controls most of the match, but Davey is constantly able to work out of his holds with smooth reversals and quick counters. Eventually, as the outside interference is kept at bay by Dynamite, Davey is able to overpower Rose and drop some bombs. Davey ducks a clothesline and hits a huge powerslam to win. Winner - Davey Boy Smith @ 10:43 with a powerslam. The Hart Family (Stu, Bret, Bruce, Keith, Wayne, Neidhart, Dynamite, Davey) cut a pre-taped promo from their home in Calgary. They talk about their heritage and legacy within the wrestling world and explain how their ambition has created all sorts of detractors and enemies, including certain members of the All Star Wrestling roster. Keith says competition is one thing, but when you set out to hurt their family physically and financially, expect retribution. They're going to Vancouver to take out the Moondogs, no matter how long it takes. Tonight, he says he'll finish off Jerry Blackwell once and for all and asks Stu to make the match No DQ. Commercials. We see footage of Stan Hansen in New Japan Pro Wrestling, wrestling against Andre the Giant, Antonio Inoki, Bob Backlund, and Dusty Rhodes. 4. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Mike Hammer Hansen smacks Hammer and immediately hits a huge knee. Hammer is winded, so Hansen picks him up to his feet and knocks him down with another huge smack. Knee drop. Choke. A series of punches pretty much knocks Hammer out completely, but Hansen sends him to the ropes and knocks his head off with the lariat. Winner - Stan Hansen @ 2:34 with the lariat. Post match, Hansen grabs his bullrope and hits Hammer square in the head with the cowbell. Hansen grabs the mic and says he's coming back in a few weeks and he's bringing Bruiser Brody and they will take the tag team titles back to Japan so they can pawn them for gold, because he's got a fat wife and 8 hungry kids to feed! He leaves Hammer a bloody mess in the ring. Jimmy Hart cuts a promo from an undisclosed location. Commercials. 5. Dynamite Kid vs. "Loverboy" Dennis Condrey Due to the outside interference earlier, referee Wayne Hart sends both Davey Boy and Randy Rose to the back, allowing this to be a one-on-one contest. They start out working wrist locks and arm ringers and eventually work it down to the mat. Condrey ends up schooling Billington a bit on the mat, but Dynamite takes over with some even more impressive counters. Condrey gets upset that Dynamite is besting him and starts using underhand tactics, which only serves to bring out the violence in the Kid. He comes back with chops and punches and headbutts. He sends Condrey to the outside and hits a baseball slide, sending Condrey into the guardrail. Condrey reverses an irish whip into the post and Dynamite is a bloody mess. They come back in the ring, with Dynamite just beating the count. Huge butterfly suplex from Condrey. 2 count. Dynamite is hurt. Condrey throws him back outside, looking to win by count out. Dynamite makes it back in the ring and Condrey goes to hit a suplex, but Dynamite rolls him into a small package for the win. Winner - Dynamite Kid @ 12:19 with a small package. Post match, Rose joins Condrey as they beat down an already bloodied Kid. They hit the rocket launcher, which appears to bruise Dynamite's rips. Davey Boy makes the save and runs the heels off. The Midnight Express lost both of their singles matches tonight, but they left Dynamite bloodied and bruised. Commercials. We're back with the second hour of action in this special two hour edition. NWA Ambassador Gene Kiniski is with new NWA Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Champion, The Cobra. Kiniski explains that Stampede has the best Light Heavyweight wrestling in the sport today and to honor that fact, the National Wrestling Alliance is creating a new division for the weight-class and will eventually crown a new NWA World Light Heavyweight Champion. Kiniski says it is athletes such as the Cobra who make Light Heavyweight action so exciting. KY Wakamatsu interrupts and claims that Hiro Saito is still the rightful champion, despite the fact that Cobra won clean. He gets in Cobra's face, only to have Saito and Takano jump from behind. 6. "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell vs. Keith Hart - No Disqualification Keith comes out on fire and throws a ton of punches, which hit Blackwell's face like cannon balls and have him reeling. Blackwell falls to the outside after a big shoulder tackle. They brawl around ringside, with Blackwell reversing Hart into the guardrail. Keith comes back and sends Blackwell sailing over a table. Hart chokes him with a camera cable. He gets a chair shot in. Blackwell is cut open. Back in the ring, Hart hits a DDT and thinks he has the match won, but only gets a two count when Blackwell somehow gets his foot on the ropes. How is Blackwell still alive? What will it take for Keith to beat him? Keith gets the ring bell and goes up top. Blackwell ducks and smashes the bells right back in Keith's face. He picks the bell up and hits him again. Now Keith is cut badly as the blood just pours out. Blackwell drops him on his head with a german suplex. Big legdrop. Big splash would finish it but Blackwell is not done. Blackwell goes to the outside and gets a chair. He puts it around Keith's ankle and comes down with a big splash. Referee Wayne Hart calls for the bell, which is in pieces on the mat. Winner - Jerry Blackwell @ 8:12 via ref stoppage. Commercials. Mr. Hito and Jim Neidhart have a few words for Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. They are not intimidated and will stop at nothing to defend the NWA Stampede International Tag Team titles right here in Canada. Ed Whalen introduces Archie "The Stomper" Gouldie to the audience. A music video set to Black Sabbath airs as highlights play of Gouldie wrestling as the Mongolian Stomper in Memphis and Japan against big names like Hulk Hogan, Jerry Lawler, Jumbo Tsuruta, and Giant Baba. Commercials. 7. NWA Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship: Bret Hart © vs. Gama Singh Singh comes out with a big bag of money, apparently having accepted the bounty and been paid for his services tonight by Jimmy Hart. Bret comes out with Jim Neidhart as backup in case any outsiders should join us tonight. This starts out as a very heated but technical contest. Bret tries to ground Singh with leg work and Singh focuses on Bret's back. Each man wears each other down until Bret gets himself into trouble by missing a high cross body block. Singh works over the back and stretches him out with the camel clutch. It appears Bret is done for when he is able to power out. It doesn't take long before he's back in the hold, however. Commercials. We're back and Bret is now powering out for a second time, but Singh won't let that happen, so he gets off to work the back some more. Singh gets caught coming off the top with a double axe handle. Bret makes the comeback and now focuses on Singh's back to get some retribution. He hits a side Russian legsweep followed by a backbreaker. Piledriver is just for good measure. Bret wins with the Boston Crab. Winner - Bret Hart (NWA Stampede North American Heavyweight Champion) @ 15:29 with the Boston Crab. Post match, Stan Hansen appears in the aisle way, swinging the bullrope around in the air. Neidhart leaves ringside to confront Hansen, which allows Jerry Blackwell to run in and attack Bret Hart. When he sees this, Neidhart forgets Hansen and runs back to the ring to save Hart, but he is jumped by Two Men in Black Ski Masks. Blackwell puts the chair around Bret's ankle, as the two masked men and Gama Singh hold him down. Blackwell looks to go for the big splash to injure Hart, but Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith make the save to run off the heels. As they retreat to the locker room, Jerry Blackwell holds up Jimmy Hart's big bag of money to end the show.

Mr. Hito & Jim Neidhart def. Hiro Saito & Shunji Takano @ 22:14 with the Hart Attack. 7. Bret Hart def. Gama Singh @ 15:01 via DQ.
  14. You don't zoom in on Andre the Giant is all I'm saying. I'm still happy we can watch the matches, though. Don't get me wrong. No one has mentioned it, but the new commentary is serviceable. Although, they could have spent the money on the 16:9 conversion and hired Jim Ross...
  15. Honestly I would prefer the useless bars on the side like WWE tragically used to put on their DVDs releases. Something shot in 4:3 needs to be shown in 4:3.
  16. Yeah, that sounds incredible. So does this.
  17. I'm digging all of this so far. I enjoy how authentic it all feels and looks forward to seeing how things get mixed up further down the line.
  18. This is really great so far. I like the idea of posting the full TV results on the day it airs...I'll be tuning in!
  19. I'd also like to add 7/21 to the list. If that request is approved, I'll have one more date available.
  20. new request: 8/6 - 8/23: Nobuhiko Takada, Kuniaki Kobayashi, Tatsumi Fujinami 8/12 & 8/19: Riki Choshu & Animal Hamaguchi

But those three matches alone made it a very memorable first show with the start of the Shango-Warrior feud and two really fun "workrate" matches (Bret/Shawn, Savage/Flair). I remember my dad taking me and having to sit through all these slow job matches. We left after the World title match and thankfully so from the looks of it. I'll never forgot after his match when they made the announcement: "Shawn Michaels has left the building".
  22. This looks extremely appealing.
