  1. I'd just like to pass for this month and keep my #1 pick for September if that is an option.
  2. Pass.
  3. Agreed. I was only pulling for Bryan to be in the Main Event this year because I wanted to see him work with Brock, but it wasn't a travesty just because they didn't fulfill my fantasy.
  4. Yeah, WWE was smart to immediately distance themselves from controversy. Maybe Hogan's camp even warned them in advance? At any rate, he'll be back in the fold eventually. This is certainly not even remotely comparable to Benoit. Hogan needs DDP Yoga.
  5. I really enjoyed the 89 Flair-Funk series too. Speaking of Terry Funk, all uppercard matches on Barely Legal were pretty hot going into the show. Raven had issues with all three possible opponents. Taz and Sabu had built for a year but they hadn't even touched. Shane Douglas and the Pibulls and Rick f'n Rude. Plus Shane was just starting a new feud against workrate, which had the ultimate payoff at the PPV.
  6. Come on down, Kerry Brown.
  7. What? Shawn Michaels WANTED to retire. That was his idea. He was going to be finished wrestling either way. Not only did he want to retire, he wanted to go out losing to Taker at WM AND is one of the very few guys who's actually honored his retirement stipulation peachchaos is probably one of those people who bitched about HBK 'retiring' Ric Flair I posit to you peachchaos.....who should HBK have 'put over' in his retirement match? Who should have beat Flair in his last WWE match? Carlito? Chris Masters? Gotta give those young guys the rub, right? I can't think of a single opponent to retire Michaels that would have had the gravitas and indelible all-time "WM moment" feel to it other than Taker. Would you rather it was Hunter? That's all well and good. I'm just saying if I had a choice of who to keep and who to retire, I would have retired Undertaker and kept Shawn on top of Mania for years and years. He could have put over Rock, Punk, Bryan, The Shield, etc. I understand it's not what Shawn and Undertaker wanted, just a bit of fantasy booking. The point of my comment had nothing to do with the retirement angle and everything to do with the fact that Shawn can still go and Taker just can't.
  8. Did anyone else think Darsow was playing Doink at first when the gimmick debuted in 1993? It seemed like anytime my friends and I saw Doink wrestle, we were trying to figure out who was under the paint. Since Darsow wore face paint as Smash (and we all knew he was Repo Man) it seemed very likely. Throw in the fact that he was feuding with Crush and we thought we had it locked down. Years later I think we're all grateful that is was Borne working the gimmick. Good god. I can't even imagine a Crush vs. Darsow match. I will say Darsow had some really great tags against the Rock N Roll Express and The Rockers where he could blend in and that's about it.
  9. Pulled this from a Roll N Roll Express comp listing: Rock N Roll Express Dream Date Contest Ole Anderson attacks the Rock N Roll Express (JCP 6/86) Rock N Roll Express vs. Arn & Ole Anderson (Worldwide 7/86) Rock N Roll Express vs. Ole & Arn Anderson (GAB 7/26/86) Rock N Roll Express Interview (w/ title win footage) (Worldwide 8/86) Rock N Roll Express & Dusty Rhodes vs. Ole & Arn Anderson & Ric Flair (cage) (World Pro TV 1986) Ricky Morton vs. Ole Anderson (Worldwide 10/86) Rock N Roll Express vs. Ole & Arn Anderson (steel cage match) (Starrcade 86) The cage match is great, can't wait to see the rest.
  10. A personal favorite and the masterpiece from '92 makes them a lock. Their WWF run was somewhat of a let down, but they did have some good stuff with Owen & Davey, including a gem from MSG on 3/16/97 which is on the Network.
  11. Well, damn. All I know of Robinson is his appearance in The Wrestler (1974), where he is billed as the best wrestler in the world and pitted against struggling promoter Verne Gagne. I dig my fair share of 70's technical wrestling (Terry/Jumbo, Lawler/Race) so this stuff is right up my alley.

I'm just saying it would've been nice if there was a match where Austin beat Bret clean to seal the deal. It's easily the best WWF feud, there just wasn't that ultimate payoff where the face went over like in those great IC title feuds.
  13. Much appreciated.
  14. Could Pete/Shoe or someone please explain the reason these Mid South matches are available through the NWA when WWE owns the Mid South library?

I've come to appreciate Santana/Valentine, Santana/Savage, and Savage/Steamboat as the Holy Trinity of workrate Intercontinental blood feuds. Nothing touches Sarge/Sheik though. For 90's stuff, I think Bret/Austin, Michaels/Taker, and Bret/Owen are the top guns. Bret and Austin actually had 5 matches (and the RAW Street Fight) that made tape and they're all ace in my book. Worth noting that none of these touch the 80's stuff in terms of build and especially payoff.
  16. Either way, I'm happy to see another 5* review of that match rather than "this was pretty good for it's time 4*"
  17. Awesome. Thanks!
  18. Apologies for the excitement, but it appears this one was new to you, so there's that.
  19. The correct date is 12/10/75 (for the title change shown on 24/7 Film Room and included on the History of the World Heavyweight Championship DVD). I'm at work so I couldn't compare the footage.
  20. Briscos vs. Funks: Terry Funk & Dory Funk Jr vs Jack & Jerry Brisco (Date unknown) (WWE 24/7: Film Room with Gordon Solie - Terry Funk) Terry & Dory Funk vs. Jack & Jerry Brisco (Florida 1970s) (Terry Funk Comp) Terry & Dory Funk + Jack & Jerry Brisco (Florida 1/82) (YouTube) Terry & Dory Funk vs. Jack & Jerry Brisco (Florida 2/6/82)(Dailymotion) Any additional footage or dates would be appreciated.
  21. I should have included the info on where to find them: 1973 - Terry Funk vs. Jerry Brisco (Clipped Silent Film) (St. Louis, MO) (YouTube) 1975.12.10 - Jack Brisco vs. Terry Funk (Clipped Silent Film) (Florida) (WWE: The History of the World Heavyweight Championship DVD, WWE 24/7, Film Room with Gordon Solie - Terry Funk) 1976.3.26 - Terry Funk vs. Jack Brisco (Clipped Silent Film) (St. Louis, MO) (Terry Funk Comp) If anyone could upload the '76 match, that would be excellent. I don't have the Terry comp. Parv, I can upload the '75 match for you when I get home this evening (might not stay up too long since it's ©WWE).
  22. The dumbest thing ever was to retire a perfectly healthy Michaels to build up the streak. If that wasn't dumb enough, they killed the streak and jobbed Taker to Lesnar. Now they expect people to care about a guy who has looked like ass for years?
  23. No interest in ever seeing Taker work again. Sting was a massive flop (at Mania). If nothing else, this news tidbit did get me to think about current WWE for a few minutes, which hasn't happened in months, aside from Owens.
