LOL at JBL citing Nakamura's 3 IWGP titles and then saying "this is the big time now" about WWE. Please tell me I misheard and he really said NXT.

Imagine an alternate universe where Nia Jax had an extra year of seasoning in the PC and debuted as the person to beat Asuka.

They're not signed full-time?! I'm glad Dunne won, but both are great.

I'm surprised this doesn't have its own thread... - Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young - WWE UK Championship: Tyler Bate © vs. Pete Dunne (with guest commentator J.R.) - NXT Tag Team Title Ladder Match: Authors of Pain © vs. DIY (Ciampa might be injured) - NXT Women's Championship: Asuka © vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross - NXT Championship: Bobby Roode © vs Hideo Itami From the main NXT thread:

More "Broken" TNA drama, this time between Reby Hardy and Dutch Mantell. http://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2017/5/19/15667954/hardys-vs-impact-wrestling-twitter-fight

I don't think Foley's reigns get affected. If anything, I see a great Foley/Bret feud over disagreements in their differences in style. Didn't Undertaker and Kane have a couple of short reigns during the Attitude Era? I think those would be the casualties. Austin vs. Bret would've headlined WM14, Austin would've won, and it would've been a much better match. Triple H still ends up in the same place, more or less, because they were always grooming him. Remember, he was originally going to win KOTR the year Austin did. Shawn in WCW ends up in the same kind of position that Jeff Jarrett eventually did - a few meaningless World Title reigns. It would be worse though, because unlike Jarrett, Shawn's best years would have been behind him due to a combination of drugs and injuries. In WCW surrounded by his enabling junkie drug buddies, Shawn may not have even made it to 2000 alive.

Not worth its own thread, but there's a new hashtag going around - #BL2017 - which supposedly means Block Lana 2017, and it has caused some controversy among the women. It started with Melina defending Sasha's loss on Raw to Alicia Fox as a good storyline, Lana "liking" those tweets, and then Sasha, Summer, and someone else tweeting out #BL2017. If it really means Block Lana 2017, I think that's childish as hell. If Sasha wonders why she's constantly the Randy Savage to Charlotte's Hulk Hogan and now putting over Foxy, this is why. Hopefully it really means something else - Becky Lynch 2017? - and there's nothing to all of this internet speculation. I'd really hate for Sasha's career to suffer due to maturity issues, because they have something special with her. It always sucks when a really talented wrestler is his/her own worst enemy. You can see some of the tweets here: http://wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2017/0518/626314/lana-likes-comments-made-by-former-wwe-women-champion-on-sasha/

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
C.S. replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
Now $2.99. If you bought it within the last seven days, go to http://www.amazon.com/myk, push the refund button, and then re-buy it at the lower price. One review, though, warns that the Kindle edition is formatted abysmally. "Tremendously great book for anyone and everyone. The only down side is the Kindle publication is awful. Typos and repeat paragraphs galore." I'll avoid it for that reason. So tired of ebooks with lazy and inexcusable formatting issues. Ali vs. Inoki is particularly bad for this, and nothing has been fixed despite the author being made aware of it. -
Weirder smark obsession: Roman Reigns or Women's hair?
C.S. replied to stro's topic in Pro Wrestling
I prefer long hair on a woman too, but like everything else in life, there are exceptions. Halle Berry is definitely one of them. Show me one pic of her with long hair that looks better than short hair. You can't, because she doesn't, and I think even she knows it. Anyway, why am I in this thread? Why was it created? Does anyone really care about Roman Reigns' hair? He'd be an idiot to cut off that long, luxuriant mane. It's one of his most distinctive features, and I know the ladies love it. When he starts balding like The Rock, then we can talk. Until that happens, he should leave his hair alone. -
Does this mean NWA on Demand will finally end up on Roku and other streaming platforms now? I hope so...

Weirder smark obsession: Roman Reigns or Women's hair?

Halle Berry says hello. -
On this week's Bring it to the Table, did anyone notice that they shoehorned a random JBL rant about Sami Zayn between two commercials? It wasn't on the list of topics and the positioning felt extremely odd and out of place. JBL spouted some nonsense about how he'd rather be captured by ISIS than listen to Zayn. WTF???
-
I'm surprised no one mentioned Hogan vs. Flair. I thought that would be in the first post. Even in the WWF in '91-'92, it felt a few years too late - never mind WCW in '94, where the bloom was really off the rose.
-
Except, this was likely pure bullshit too. Maybe he really feels that way, maybe not, but the reason he got to express that "controversial" opinion was because he was a Raw guy showing disinterest in a Smackdown feud - thereby promoting the whole Raw vs. Smackdown rivalry narrative between the two brands.
-
I figured the NWA on Demand footage wasn't included. So, without that, what is the value of the actual NWA - other than nostalgia? Honest question.

Great editorial on Cageside Seats: The Roman rage has gone too far The fans were downright embarrassing last night. The Rock says: IT DOESN'T MATTER how biology works!!!

From PWInsider.com: "Smashing Pumpkins front man and former TNA Wrestling President Billy Corgan has agreed in principle to purchase the National Wrestling Alliance, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources. The deal in place would see Corgan purchase the name, rights, trademarks to the NWA as well as the rights and possession of the NWA championship belt." Nothing about the NWA Classics on Demand footage, which I think Corgan would be crazy not to buy, but I don't know if that's separate from the actual NWA or what. If the NWA Classics footage isn't included, I'm not really seeing anything tangible that Corgan would get out of this - other than the nostalgia of the NWA name, I guess? But maybe I'm missing something? Of course, all of the newz sites are already reporting on this like it's a done deal, which doesn't sound like the case to me.

No way Joe should have won, and I'm glad he didn't. Seth, as cooled off as he's become, is still someone who is going to be a star for years to come. Joe is a utility player who is WAY past his prime and has yet to impress me in either his NXT or WWE runs. Truthfully, I wasn't impressed with him during his "epic" matches with Kurt Angle either. His ROH glory days, assuming those weren't overrated too and the inane shriekings of "THIS IS AWESOME!!!" ROH fanboys, is long past him.
-
Is it just me or does this match seem to be in slow motion?
-
Never been a Finn fan, but he's killing it on Miz TV with good babyface fire.

I'll echo the sentiments in this thread that Foxcatcher was an absolutely awful movie. Good performances, yes, but painfully slow and boring as hell. Considering how great the story is, there was no excuse for such a pitifully bad film. As for casting Vince, only one choice makes sense to me: Peter Gallagher

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations

Not a recommendation (I haven't read it yet), just a heads-up that this is free on Kindle today: Wrestling With Girls by Alan Lewis That makes it sound partially like a non-fiction book or memoir, but I'm pretty sure it's fiction. Whether it's any good, who knows, but free is free. Worth a shot. https://www.amazon.com/Wrestling-Girls-Alan-Lewis-ebook/dp/B00IACTE9I/
