  1. Awesome brawl. Loses a bit at the end, but that hardly matters when you have Terry Funk as a madman and Jerry Lawler just punching each other in the face. I mean, who gets tired of seeing that?
  2. Loved this. The dueling limb work and attention to detail make this match for me. Finish was your typical Memphis fare, so it's no surprise by any means.
  3. RIP Bobby Heenan. Easily one of the best performers wherever he went, even in a dying WCW.
  4. I'm wondering how much money this little scam made for pro wrestling in the early 90s. Must have at least been some for every major company to have them.
  5. Taylor is not a great promo, but that's hardly a surprise. Ross does well enough leading him through this. WCW is looking REALLY lost to start 1991. The best we see in the first week is a match you know means nothing to anybody in the front office.
  6. Virgil's face throughout this thing was great. Almost as great as Ted was.
  7. Paul made Missy look pretty beefy selling that slap. Ross acting as the disapproving parent seems like the right role for him.
  8. So Warrior doesn't care about Savage despite apparently having a title match with him BEFORE the Slaughter match? That seems like a bad idea. Also, Sherri needed some mic time there. She brought so much to the act.
  9. Pritchard and Hogan do have good chemistry. Hogan is clearly the number 1 guy again, no bones about it here. He beat Warrior in the Rumble last year, remember?
  10. Hokuto's fast start makes sense given her opponent. As does the later wearing down strategy with holds when the opening presents itself. Bull finally being vulnerable is a nice payoff, but ultimately these things didn't connect for me in watching the match. I did think Bull's selling down the stretch was really well done. Hokuto taking that tombstone was beyond stupid/crazy/brave.
  11. Good match despite the ridiculous 180 they did on the stip. They only tried to pin each other for the first 5 minutes, when id didn't count. Then when it counts there were exactly 0 near-falls leading to the Pillman win. Beautiful. The Pillman dive from the stands was sweet, as was his signature bump (although that was a little scary).
  12. Hansen going nuts with the chair really made Kobashi look like a boss. Loved this match, love most of the 91 to 93 Kobashi stuff, especially involving Hansen.
  13. Great brawl, but I will second (15th?) the awful finish. Can't blame them for wanting to not be in the ring any longer than they had to be though. That suplex spot gone wrong to the apron looked particularly nasty. Impressive dive with the chain involved as well. Strong start to 1991.
  14. Eddie refusing to wrestle on TV because of the bounty is incredible. He looks so hurt and upset by it. The bounty on Lawler, whether it was Eddie's doing or not, definitely got a different reaction.
  15. Fun little segment and I'm glad that lucky fan didn't get to the ring before Idol and Gilbert. Memphis roster must have been thin to have Lawler, Idol, Gilbert and Bam Bam do triple duty.
  16. I'd agree that these 3 were a blast to listen to. You can always tell when people are having fun with something like this, and it makes it all that much more enjoyable.
  17. Seems like this is the kind of deal a TV champ would have had to know how to do. Drag a young (hopefully promising with some prospects for the future) guy to a far better match than said young guy was capable of. Probably one of the reasons Arn was one of the better TV champs WCW ever had.
  18. If I was impressed with Bock at 56 doing what he did, Thesz at 74 is amazing. No way you'd expect anywhere near what we got here.
  19. For a guy who was 56 and 3 years out of wrestling, Bock looked really impressive. I like that they kept it basic and worked everything in a really gritty fashion. Definitely my kind of match.
  20. Not great, but glad I got to see 2 legends mix it up. Casas' outfit was something else.
  21. Great match between the two best high end guys left in the WWF. Loved Piper's fire here.
  22. I thnk Lawler doing the "real world title" thing was much, much better after seeing this. Larry does what he can with it, he's just not on the same level.
  23. Whatever faults he had as a promo, Orndorff was miles ahead of Doc. Really hoping this match made tape somewhere though.
  24. Ted again proves that he is an unsung hero for the WWF in 1990. I'm sorry I ever doubted JvK about how great Teddy was.
  25. Great work by Savage and Heenan here. Savage's outfits are so bizarre they actually start making sense.
