  1. I am not a fan of putting the belt on Funk if he isn't around full-time. I would agree that Funk and Gilbert should be reversed in this situation.
  2. I don't mind Ted not pressing for the win until late. It plays perfectly into how cocky he had to be going into a match against a rookie like Dustin. Great Stuff.
  3. I'm pretty sure this matchup will never go wrong with me. Hash getting most of the offense works because Choshu's offense is ALWAYS better in short, violent bursts.
  4. Good match, but even a well-executed spotfest is going to rank pretty low for me. For what it was, there in't going to be a much better match out there.
  5. I thought this was a good, fun tag. I'm not sure if it's more the point Childs made, my connection to the wrestlers in AJPW is stronger, or the one G. badger made, this didn't have the underlying direction it needed, that make me think it's not overly great.
  6. I'd definitely be interested in a Doc/Orndorff PPV match. I think the whole thing with the finishes is more because of the massive shift in pro wrestling during the late 90s. We went from mostly non-finishes in the marquee matchups to everything having a finish to keep the fans watching. Where we are at in 1990, it's very much an 80s atmosphere from a booking standpoint. Keep the TV matches non-decisive to make the house shows (or PPVs) a big deal.
  7. Billy is one nutty dude. Portland was such a perfect place for guys like him.
  8. Given the pattern of 1990, if you are under the radar and deliver on a consistent basis you are gone. So how long until Sherri hits the road?
  9. Long match that was not bad, but seemed a little half-hearted by all of the participants for a good portion of it. I was not impressed.
  10. I think it's going to be some kind of deus ex machina to wrap up all the senseless angles and turn them into something you can follow.
  11. Good idea, bad execution. You know, given WCW's history of awful ideas, at least they got the damn idea right here. It seems like it would be a Horsemen thing.
  12. MX and Ricky Morton one last time! And they must have known it, because they really left it all out there. Please say we have all kinds of Bobby Eaton footage from somewhere on the 91 and 92 set?
  13. One of the better lariats you'll ever see Stateside. Luger was really good in 1990. Too bad the company killed his interest in the work by shitting all over him.
  14. At what point does this angle become Ole trying to tank the company?
  15. Two teams that need a heavyweight slugfest top really shine in a heavyweight slugfest with some structure. Nothing to complain about here, lots of hurty looking violence and bombs. This is the kind of match WCW shhould have had mroe often, seems to go right with their marketing strategy.
  16. The tobacco really does undercut Hansen. But he's effective as a crazy bastard anyway, mainly because that's who he is as a wrestler. Even so, WCW could have done so much better with him. Funny how that often ends up being the case.
  17. Lawler is really good at conveying a message. Any message. He gets the "life is hard as a wrestler" message across as well as you'd expect.
  18. Flair and Arn impressed with their teamwork. They are both good enough that you believe they've been working together for years. I know they have been Horsemen for years, but not exactly a tag team that often.
  19. Cornette on his way out is still the best part of an awful segment by miles. Who would have guessed?
  20. Martel is definitely not to the level of Jake in this feud, but he's definitely one of the top 4 or 5 angle guys the WWF has right now. Once he's in the ring it's not as good, but you can tell he's enjoying the character of the Model.
  21. Want to see this match in full. Gilbert cuts a Hell of a promo, but Dave somehow tops him in his own way. Love you Dave Brown.
  22. Bill really brings the heat here, probably easier since his son got busted up real good.
  23. Ken Wayne must have REALLY had to go. Good match.
  24. Possibly the best lucha finish ever. Dandy gets his revenge on Satanico for October in the most satisfying way imaginable. And I loved Satanico's initial reaction, but not as much as the "you got me" he gives to Dandy later on. Amazing match and probably my MOTY.
