  1. I enjoyed the way they teased the screwjob finish. Really good match that you don't expect from Memphis, but a lot of the details are kinda blurred at this point.
  2. Craig being in way over his head is kind of a foregone conclusion. Kinda unhappy they brought him back. Fun match between two guys who know their trade very well.
  3. Idol is passable here. Shades of a turn in Idol's post-match promo?
  4. This makes sense given the argument the had earlier in the week. They both are out to prove they deserve to be here more than the other. So they try to keep things as clean as possible before tempers start flaring.
  5. Liked seeing pre-Undertaker Callous get to look good. Lawler was taking it easy, but we still manage to get a good match out of it.
  6. Terry Funk is absolutely amazing. Craig being back is...well, not terrible anyway. Pedecino is really, really good as an announcer.
  7. Take that Meltzer! That'll show you who not to trash! Seriously, was this necessary?
  8. Can we please please PLEEEEASE be done with this God forsaken Black Scorpion angle? I feel like Ole is deliberately trying to tank things (and give viewers migraines).
  9. Nasties were never a team I got. But there is definitely a vibe to them that feels different than pretty much anything else at the time. And it's an intriguing matchup with the more technical (but still capable brawlers) the Steiners.
  10. Great tag team division, somehow they didn't make the best use of it they could. Imagine WCW not using their resources to their best.
  11. I had no idea Ace was this good in 1990. Jumbo is probably the best ace ever in terms of giving guys lower on the totem pole chances to shine.
  12. This was not great. But as mentioned above, if there are no belts what else are you going to use to set things up? I do agree that basically calling your guy a chump in relation to some other promotion's guy is probably not the best idea.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I love Flair on the mic and he can talk people into a building. But Arn promos always seem more up my alley. Flair backing up Arn is no problem at all for me.
  14. Eddie is so great as the complete and total prick, but also justified. If these two didn't have real life heat they sure were good at making it seem like they did.
  15. The suits really do set this apart from the majority of 1990 USWA. The touch of class when dealing with the heavyweight title seems right. Snowman remarks aside that is.
  16. Great stuff from everybody involved. Jake in particular is incredible selling his eye being hurt.
  17. Hmmm, so after the big to-do earlier about a tournament for a first round bye, Dundee has a match against an affiliate of Eddie Gilbert's. I wonder how that ends.... So yeah, another big Memphis heel beatdown. Never would have guessed we'd see Gilbert out.
  18. I've heard Savage say that a wrestler's best character is basically themselves turned up to 11. Could it be that Sid truly is a crazy roided up dude that did think he ruled the world? And that's why his promos sounded so genuine if they stayed short?
  19. This match to me served two purposes. 1. Keep building Kobashi up as a plucky kid full of fighting spirit. 2. Introduce us to the real Toshiaki Kawada, you know the surly bastard who likes to kick people in the face and just generally be a dick. Love watching that guy.
  20. Here's the thing about Bobby Eaton's 1990. There are a lot of wrestlers who would kill to have a singles match this good with only their prior history as a build. Because it is a very, very good match. That it compares so unfavorably with even his recent singles work says a Hell of a lot.
  21. Smothers is one crazy bastard at the end. Pretty good match, but I've seen better recently. Again with the BS finish.
  22. To be fair, they were bound to be pissed at Taue. He had left their side and joined Jumbo's army. Death to the damned traitor! Anyway, really great tag match with Kawada looking waaay more like Kawada than he has to this point. Why did Taue drop doing the elbows when he got pissed at Misawa anyway? Seemed like one of the highlights to me.
  23. I suppose one thing you have to expect when you put marquee singles matches on the TV shows like this, finishes will be wonky. Especially given we are one year removed from the 80s. Good match on the level of the Eaton match. I like that you can look at Arn and Eaton in this series and really get a picture of how they worked.
  24. Didn't care much for this. Too much interference so Flair could be half-assed protected. I think the standardized Flair Broomstick Match on fast-forward would have worked far better here.
  25. Count me in as appalled by the announcing. The match wasn't any good either, but the announcing trumped it in so many ways.
