Come on, midgets are always a highlight.
-
They had me, I was really horrified that Jerry was going to take that bump. I can't wait for the blowoff to this. The dueling promos for the last two months have gotten staler and staler.
-
Yeah the school in summer joke. Are they still advancing the Rhodes brother's breakup story? I haven't seen the full shows a few weeks.
-
I was hoping Barrett's bad news was that RVD/Cesaro was cancelled. Also, Lawler just lifted a joke from Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.
-
I find Shawn's '97 incredible. I don't know if anybody else ever developed a successful character by turning into a physical and emotional train wreck in real life, but that's what he managed to do during the initial DX run.
-
Haha I must have missed that beatdown. It's wonderfully absurd. He does a pretty good Carrey, actually.
-
This was my first exposure to Jarrett, and it made him seem like a big deal. The beginning of a really varied and weird 2 year spell with the WWF.
-
Mick Foley is teasing an announcement about his professional future. I'm guessing he's going to end up in GFW in some capacity, which is fine as long as no one tries to talk him into working a match.
-
Reigns worked the following show in Ireland, so I'm guessing it just hurt a lot and looks gross.
-
I'm with you tim. I don't really want Bryan to get stripped of the title, but I love titles getting held up and decided in tournaments/battle royals.
-
I haven't seen his WCW title run, but I could watch Doom or APA beat the hell out of guys forever. I also think the original version of the Nation was awesome and he should have been pushed to the moon. He would have been a good opponent for Austin's initial title run. Now I'm imagining Vince joining the Nation, which would have been priceless.
-
He's mentioned Rey as a dream opponent, but if he really wanted to do it he's been in a position to make it happen the entire time Rey's been there and hasn't.
-
Speaking of Mel Philips, does anyone know if he was really the reason Hogan/Andre at mania 3 was only released with the hard camera footage on some recent DVD releases? It looks like a fancam. Really bizarre, and the network has the original version, so it seems arbitrary.
-
Wow, they acknowledge in the article that he was mostly associated with the AWA and still manage to mention WWE twelve times.
-
Everyone would've held their breath hoping Bryan would win the belt in the chamber. Then when he didnt, Orton/Batista would've gotten the exact same reaction with less time for WWE to readjust.
-
I know most of the gimmick matches with HBK haven't aged well, but their title match on TV that went to a draw was great. That was how HHH should have worked during that entire time when he was cosplaying travelling NWA champion .

When I saw the thread the first thing that came to mind was Cena/Punk MITB 2011. It has so much going for it nobody remembers the sloppier spots.
-
Always loved this so much. Dusty might be the only wrestler to ever lift from Bob Dylan for a promo.

On the Bryan and Vinny show, Bryan was screaming about how Dolph outing Zach Ryder as the Adam Rose rabbit on twitter was going to get him buried even further. Incidentally, it's hard to believe people pay to listen to him carry on. I don't even think I'll listen another free show.

Becoming a viable enough commodity to be offered a lucrative part time deal should be the new brass ring for every guy on the roster. It's actually more attainable than ever becoming "the face of the WWE". Ask CM Punk, he's started the process of getting the deal by blowing them off.
-
Punk's beef always seemed to be that non-wrestling fans would bug him because he was getting attention from legitimate fans. I'm not saying wrestling fans didn't drive him crazy, I'm certain they did, but people asking for autographs/ pictures because he appeared to be someone famous really grated him.

Yeah, Cryme Tyme got in a fight with Cade and Murdoch and were released for a few months.

Thanks rovert.

I didn't want to derail the WWE finances thread with this. Downsides and royalties for lower end guys were discussed. What exactly do main roster wrestlers who don't work house shows or TV weekly do? Are they at every event regardless? Is JTG waiting by the phone for the next time he'll be used or is he actively travelling with them? Do any of these guys have normal jobs to supplement their income or stay busy?

They've come a long way, in as much as I know which one is which now.
