Bray's character is definitely going to have to be malleable for a sustained run. Once the Cena feud runs it's course they've already exhausted a lot of the possibilities for what you can do with him in his current state. Hopefully they'll tweak him by developing his ethos, like Loss and Stiva suggest, and not relegate him to campy mid card act.

I see the subtext being that Wyatt needs a platform to spread his cult's message, and wrestling is a place with a young, impressionable audience where he can use the brutes at his disposal without legal reprise. Destroying Cena's white knight image leaves his young fans questioning their values, and leaves them vulnerable to Bray's influence. Or maybe I'm looking into it too much.

Why haven't they ever done a blinding angle with Cena? "No John, you can't see me!" Low hanging fruit I guess. It'd also have to end in a blindfold match, which would be ghastly.

  5. The Starrcade 90' main event is bad for a lot of obvious reasons, but it's kind of fascinating to watch Flair try to cover his tracks and work a different style. The best part of this whole show was the Russian shooter guys in the Pat O'Connor tag tourney.
  6. Blackman's Bounties please. Hopefully the theme song is just his awesome entrance music.

    Shane Douglas

I just watched Douglas vs Bigelow from November to Remember the other night. He was de facto babyface because they were in Pittsburgh, and he's really good here. I don't know if it was by design, but it reminded me a lot of Flair/Vader from Starrcade. I didn't like his belly-to-belly finisher; it didn't look that great, and it's more of transition move.
  8. The Warrior Show was produced by the metal label that those bands were on. A friend of mine sings for a band that just got signed by them, and I'm praying they bring the show back so I can see Warrior torture him.
  9. I don't think the six man tag will be competitive. Kane/NAO just have to be bases for Rollins to launch himself at, brawl with Ambrose a bit, and then get speared/super-punched out of their boots by Reigns. They should just get it over with in five minutes.
  10. In one of the threads here I read a list of Meltzer's top workers of 1983. He had Funk listed at number nine, but noted that his knees were shot. In 1983. It's unreal that he was moonsaulting off ladders fifteen years later and wrestling at all nearly thirty years later.
  11. There are roughly sixteen former champions on the current roster, and I'd say maybe four of them have the potential to ever see a world title again as long as the belts are unified. Most of those guys are still approaching their prime, with a Rey and Khali thrown in. It speaks volumes about the booking of those belts for the last 7-8 years.
  12. That made no sense. They knew Edge was a physical wreck, even if they didn't know how bad. Plus, if ADR has the World title he's not shoehorned into Summer of Punk, although it probably would have gotten screwed up anyway.
  13. I think if they had given him something substantial to do he probably would have gotten over more. He never had any significant angles. He was just "wealthy guy", "angry wealthy guy", or "another guy who wants the belt." He needed a Dibiase buying the belt angle to compliment his persona, or play him more like a shooter with his MMA background. There just wasn't much there for the crowd to get behind. He also seems to fall into the Orton category, where half the audience thinks he's good and the other half think his work's boring.

Undertaker should've stuck with the white beard this year. Besides it looking cool, it would've played up the aging Taker story they're going for.
  15. I liked the segment based on it's own merit, but I think I like it because it'll be a touchstone for a generation of young fans that are mostly used to lighter fare. This will be their Andre ripping Hogan's shirt segment.

They're also okay with choking as long as it's followed by a slam.

Didn't an unnamed sponsor, probably Mattel, complain about the tie choking?

My brother hasn't been a regular viewer in years, but he checked out Raw tonight and he said he hopes Phinneas Goddwinn kicks Cena's ass.

Goldust-Fandango match started out really fun, then got scary and uncomfortable. It looked like the botch was Fandango's fault.
  20. I just mentioned in another thread his character, his work, and his push in 97 were about where he belonged for the majority of his career. All of that played to his strengths. He threw in the ass kicker/cerebral assassin/JCP tribute stuff, and it never rang true. A lot of Indy guys catch flak about, "playing wrestler" as opposed to actually seeming like one, and that's how he normally came off.
  21. HHH is boring, but would've made a great career long upper mid card stooging heel (his circa 97 run.) Orton is boring, but had all of the tools to be one of the best ever. I think the fact that HHH actually surpassed his potential to succeed and Orton never lived up to his potential skews peoples thoughts on who was fundamentally better.
  22. I'm watching Great American Bash 90', and it's easily the most fun I've had with the network. I was going to go through all of the ECW ppvs, but I've seen three and they're just a bummer. Definitely working through 90-97 WCW instead.
  23. Until this is confirmed, I choose not to believe Punk is someone that would post pictures of food he's about to eat.

What was the last really strong video package WWE put together for a match? I'm sure there's been some good ones since, but the most recent that comes to mind is the "In Time" video from Taker/HHH at Wrestlemania 27.
  25. They need to wait until Taker retires so they can be on the roundtable together and talk about when he broke Hogan's neck in 74'.
