  1. They've already gotten a federal trademark for Ryback. The other names are trademarked, but maybe haven't been approved by the federal patent office. I'm surprised because I heard they had trouble registering Ryback since it was considered a surname.
  2. Just got an update for XBox 360. ECW and WCW pay per views are now in the PPV section and the vault. Everything is sorted by year instead of show title. It's running a lot faster too.
  3. 97-98 Paul Bearer is tremendous. The original incarnation of the character is fun in a nostalgic way now, but once he ditched the makeup and turned into a sleazy southern preacher he got to do some world-class heeling. He was hilarious, he cut great promos to frame the Taker/ Kane feud, and he bumped like a champ whenever Taker got his hands on him.
  4. As Dustin, probably Spring Stampede 94 against Bunkhouse Buck. Goldust work is tougher to choose without going through it again, but it would be something from the last six years, and maybe even something from the last six months.
  5. That's an excellent point. This might be one instance where Hunter's ego is actually going to be to his opponents advantage.

Hogan's running on nostalgia fumes now. I like that new black Hulkamania shirt. He needs to wear that, dye the stubble black, and air guitar his way out to "Voodoo Child.". Or something from Metallica, since, you know, he's practically a member and all.

There's no way Bryan/HHH is any less than good. I'm more concerned they might get paired in a horrible gimmick match next month.

That promo peaked with the Fandangoing, then went too long. Based on that video package I think HHH has Seven-style marble notebooks filled with everything he's ever read about himself on the internet that he's using as the bible for this whole angle.
  9. Well, Heyman was 9 million dollars in debt when all was said and done.

If they could get Austin to headline they could probably draw 100k.
  11. I would've loved all of the B ppvs taking classic WCW ppv themes after the buyout. Vince would never go for that though. I'm not sure of the story behind the Great American Bash becoming a WWE show.
  12. Crush as white prison convert to the Nation was a creative idea. Ahmed was baffling.
  13. I didn't see what was odd about Savage/Elizabeth getting paid the same as the main eventers. I presume the wedding was a selling point for the ppv. The article answered the first question that came to mind, which was how much were Taker/Jake paid.
  14. I'll never understand how Stan Hansen didn't get more acting work after No Holds Barred.
  15. Watching Superbrawl 1, after Sid jobs to El Gigante a portion of the crowd starts singing, "Kiss Him Goodbye." I was really surprised pre-internet enough people were aware he had signed with WWF to get that going. I also thought the song wasn't really part of the crowd chant lexicon until the Attitude Era.

There's not much they can do with HBK besides shill DVDs and add star power to HHH angles. He doesn't want to wrestle or even be there every week, and he's found other interests that he's making money at. The best thing he's done post-retirement was the promo with Bryan, where he started with the nice guy/respect schtick and slowly lost his patience until he calls him a little puke in the 97' Shawn voice.
  17. The weirdest thing is since it's a meaningless hall the only reason to have it is for the television ceremony, and that has always been chopped down to 45 minutes and put on relatively late at night. At least now the entire show will be on the network.
  18. Did Hall have any good singles matches during the NWO run? The only three singles matches I can even remember were against Zbyszko, Sting, and Goldberg, and I don't remember anything about them really. Was he already a mess in 96' when he got signed?

One thing that hadn't really struck me until today is that regardless of how things played out with Bryan, Punk, Orton, and Batista this year, the plan to put Cena with Wyatt was always in place. It's weird that they have their ace possibly putting over a relatively brand new act at Wrestlemania. I'm sure Cena's still the focal point, but I think it's an indication that things are moving in a new direction.
  20. I remember his "born again" work with Venis being good, but he was really only heel there because of the attitude era crowds. Any other time in wrestling, he would've clearly been the face. It was still leagues better than the previous year of AFKAG stuff.
  21. If we want more Rhodes Bros we'll have to campaign for Mini Abismo Negro to get his old gig back as Mini Dust.
  22. It's the Colon HOF induction, plus El Torito will have some wacky spot to give us a Wrestlemania Moment

    Believe in the Chain Gang.
  24. The best match on the show, but that's not saying much. It has some great moments, but there is a point where they look totally lost and resort to light punches and kicks while they sort it out. The Extreme Rules match the following month is better, but I think they're two guys who look like they would match up better than they actually do.
  25. I think buffer matches are a good idea in general. One time it certainly didn't help HHH at all was the divas match at Wrestlemania 18, but Hogan/Rock just should've gone on last.
