I'm happy with the roster with mid south, but I want it to grow and that isn't possible unless GOC quits. I don't like that rule. Plain and simple. If this is how it is going to be and I get to add a guy who has some decency once a month then the long term plans for this seem kind of odd. I only get something decent if I get lucky in the random order even though I put forth more effort than others yet my growth is hindered upon a random draw or GOC quitting. There is literally no reason for me to work on as hard as I have been knowing that my promotion will not grow. That's my issue. I want more people on my roster to put on more shows. That's as simple as I can put it.
-
Why is that though if I have shown I can?
-
So essentially, if Parv leaves, and were to hand off WWF to me to run along with Mid South and I worked out a deal with you to have those specific guys come in and do work when needed, would it be acceptable for us to have a working agreement with talent?
-
There are a couple of promotions running shows with massive rosters but only running a few matches on their cards, those guys not being used or planned to be used should be released. I completely agree. I have my jobbers on my end, and while I have them, it is almost like stockpiling for when I am able to expand and then use them. Don Kent isn't a huge star, but could be utilized as a gatekepper.
-
I agree with the free agent thing, I guess we simply don't have enough people to pick from. I will check in with the guys I had interested tonight and see where they stand. I know they were up a couple of weeks ago but as we all know, things simmer. We can converse about the WWF situation when it arises.
-
I think we are on different sides of the fence in the word "growth." For me, I would like to have my company grow by 5-10 workers so that I can run two house shows a day. I have Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Houston to run with only one group of workers. I want to be able to work more towns with more people. I am not set on taking over Texas or Georgia or Alabama, those types of things don't mean as much to me as keeping the towns I have and making sure I can run them more than once every two-three months. Obviously I run Ok City, New Orleans, and Shreveport once everyone three weeks. I do Houston once every two weeks. I want to build up my ability to do that. I want to take my TV out of just 3 towns and run it in a big cycle and not limit the exposure in those places. Having a limited roster size doesn't allow me to do that. What your saying (I think) is growth equals places that you run. For me, growth is how many people I run a place with. I am not trying to hinder someone from joining by any means. If they will be a productive member of the group, it would be great to have some people who are willing to contribute to not just shows but feedback and conversation. If I am allowed to run the two promotions, if someone were to want to pick one of them up, I would have no problem in working out a way to split everything up and make it work. That isn't an issue for me as long as there is communication and people are willing to work. I would love to take someone under my wing and help them with the writing. It would be an awesome way to DEVELOP writers rather than throw them into the fire, which is what happened here with a majority of people who struggle to keep up in my opinion.
-
Or someone picks up the towns? Example, Georgia goes to a draft, we split Georgia between Alabama and Mid Atlantic? Another option for sure. Kind of what Montreal and Toronto did with the Maritimes. Yeah, I mean if a promotion had of closed in 1983, someone would pick up the towns and the TV. But we are saying that if a company knowingly wants to, it cannot "sell" its promotion to another? If Parv were to bow out and WWF were to become mine, I would run two separate promotions. That isn't difficult for me as you have seen over the past month. Both products are working without hesitation while some are struggling to get going. Nothing against anyone, but I have shown that I can do this without any issues when it comes to booking and telling the stories. In regards to plans of how to run both promotions, I would be more than happy to lay out what that would look like and how it would be not only fun and effective for me, but also for the group as a whole as a way to evolve this project. And in regards to the allegations of how I have run the WWF, like Parv stated, it would be customary for a new booker to bring in talent. When it comes to the talent, Tommy Rogers was booked way back in July and when I got him in a trade I honored that deal and made the best of it with Bobby Fulton his partner. Ted Dibiase was on the books back in July and I honored that deal, same goes for Junkyard Dog. Tiger Chung Lee went on because Mid South has Tuesdays off and since he was a partner with Fuji, it would be only fitting they'd do the same. I did bring in Wrestling II and the Samoans for one shot simply due to getting comfortable with the booking, for that I guess I have to apologize. The WWF is currently very reliant on outside workers like Savage and Dory and Bockwinkel, so in reality, nothing major has changed with the way it was booked. In regards to new guys, I am all for them picking up and taking dead promotions, but I just want to urge that we look into possibly developmental territories under a current owners guise in order to help develop new writers rather than throw them to the fire. That's something I'd like to do with my proposal earlier in the post and 2 promotions. My last point would be growth. I know it is a territory system that we have and while that is great, I don't see why we have to hinder overall growth for those of us that want it. We keep talking about reality and such, well the WWF took over promotions in 1984, they became bigger. Crockett did the same thing. Watts did the same thing. I said I don't want to take over the world, I just want to size up one level and run a bigger promotion than I currently am. I think my work has proven I can do that, I just want to make sure it is a possibility with what we have in place.

Mid South Wrestling from the Civic Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma {Mid South Wrestling opens to a nice little package showcasing some of the big stars of Mid South. We then cut to Jim Ross and Bill Watts at ringside!} Jim Ross: Welcome everyone to Mid South Wrestling! I am Jim Ross alongside Cowboy Bill Watts and fans we have got a huge night of action. Bill, when fans see this broadcast, a few short hours later, we will be coming to them from the SuperDome and lemme tell ya, that card is going to be something special! Bill Watts: I have helped put together a number of Superdome cards Jim Ross, but never before have I seen anything like this. Jim: Fans lets run down the card for you real quick and talk about what we have in store for you here tonight. MAIN EVENT NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP DOG-COLLAR MATCH LOSER LEAVES TOWN MATCH The Junkyard Dog vs Ted Dibiase © MID SOUTH TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen vs The Wild Samoans © w/ The Grand Wizard NWA CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP Rick Martel © vs Don Muraco w/ The Grand Wizard NWA MINI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Cowboy Lang vs Little Tokyo © ThunderBolt Patterson vs The Sheik The Fantastics vs The German Destroyers Mr. Wrestling II vs ‘Cowboy’ Scott Casey Bill: Jim lemme tell ya, we still have some time and you know anything could happen, but tonight we will find out who will be staying around Mid South and who will be leaving. Jim: Will it be the Junkyard Dog or will it be Ted Dibiase? Tonight we are going to find out. Fans tonight we’ve got four great matches signed and we will hear from Scott Casey, Mr. Wrestling II, NWA Canadian Champion Rick Martel and the Fantastics all on their encounters this evening, right now though it is time to head to the ring! Tiger Jackson vs Little Tokyo {A pretty good showcase for Little Tokyo. Ross and Watts put over the NWA Mini World Title contest against Cowboy Lang for Tokyo who is pretty ruthless in the ring. He finishes off Jackson with a nasty brainbuster type suplex for the 1…2…3! He holds up the NWA Mini Title as Ross and Watts say he will have to do a little more tonight if he wants to keep the gold. We then cut to a taped interview from Wrestling II and Scott Casey} Scott Casey: Well tonight is the night there Mr. Wrestling II. I always thought that was the stupidest name in wrestling. I look around at the guys you’ve wrestled in Mid South and I just laugh. You have never been in the ring with someone as tough as myself and you’re going to find that out the hard way tonight. I am letting you know right now, the door is open, you can walk your yellow belly right back from where you came because there’s no way you are coming out of this match with that mask! Mr. Wrestling II: Lemme tell you something Scott Casey. I have had to sit back and listen to what you say and it couldn’t make me sicker. You are a man with no respect and I guess I am the one who is going to have to make you understand how things happen here in Mid South. Now you want to take this mask… (Wrestling II rips it off ala Mil Mascaras to have another one on…) you can have it. I have got a mask for everyday of the week and come tonight, I am going to leave you with a mask. A mask of crimson. *COMMERCIAL* {Mid South Wrestling returns with Jim Ross and Bill Watts joined by The Grand Wizard, Don Muraco, and the Wild Samoans…} Jim: Thank you for joining us gentlemen. I must say, you look awful excited about your match against Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody tonight. Grand Wizard: Ross… I couldn’t be happier! You see… right here… I have the two most dangerous, two most vicious, and two craziest wrestlers in the world. On top of that… they have the tag team titles… and I control them! Then right here… I have got the future Mid South Television Champion… the Magnificent One… Don Muraco! Bill: Well he’s going to have to do a little bit more. He’s behind by 10 points in my book right now on Wrestling II. Don Muraco: You listen to me Watts. You can take those points and shove it… when I face Wrestling II… I am going to put him down and then I am going to raise up that title! Bill: Well you are going to have to do something, because he is gunning for you! Grand Wizard: That’s what you think Watts. You see Don Muraco is not worried about Wrestling II… you see tonight he has got a chance to win his first of TWO TITLES! Rick Martel… you have made a LONG trip to New Orleans but it is going to be an even longer trip back! Muraco: Yeah Martel… perhaps baggage claim will be easier… you won’t have to check in that title. HAHA! Grand Wizard: Bill Watts… you always try to find these competitors to come in and fight those who don’t follow your rules… well Rick Martel is someone who is going to find out the hard way that you don’t mess with the Magnificent One! Bill: Well you may feel that way, but I know for a fact that he feels differently… in fact… hear it from him! Rick Martel: All week I have had to listen to people tell me about what a dirty, rotten, piece of garbage you are Don Muraco! I cannot tell you the disdain I have for how you have talked and the things you’ve said about me. When I come to the Superdome, I am coming to defend this NWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship. This is one of the most prestigious championships in all of wrestling and you… you don’t deserve it nor do you deserve a shot by the way you’ve acted. But I am more than willing to put it all on the line and there is no way you will come out the winner because you are a LOSER! Grand Wizard: HAHA! This goof really things he has what it takes to beat the Magnificent One? I cannot wait to see the look on his face and all the faces of all the goofs out there watching. Then… when Muraco brings that title back to me, we are going to put it right next to the Mid South Tag Team Championships and Watts… you can bring in whomever you want but none of them can hold a candle to my Samoans! Bill: Well we’re going to get a little preview of that right now aren’t we!? Stan Hansen vs Afa w/ The Grand Wizard {A very explosive contest from the get go. We know that Brody and Sika are here but they were ushered back by security. These guys go about 6-minutes and no one is pulling anything back. There are some STIFF shots. The Grand Wizard tries to get control of Afa but he is in his own world with Hansen. They take the fight outside the ring and Afa throws him into the ringpost. Hansen hit hard as Watt and Ross put over a possible change in the momentum. Afa then runs but Hansen moves and he cracks his head off the ringpost! Hansen pulls that elbow pad up and runs at the post but Afa moves and Hansen destroys his arm off the ringpost! The referee counts to 10 as the bell rings! Hansen is down as Sika runs back out and he and Afa are going right after that shoulder! The crowd erupts when Brody runs out as the Samoans back off. Grand Wizard is all smiles and there’s no telling what will happen here. Will Hansen be able to go at the Superdome?} *COMMERCIAL* {Mid South Wrestling returns with a nice little promo from the Fantastics as it shows them trying on new suits to “Sharp Dressed Man.” They put over their match tonight with the German Destroyers and say that they may be dressed nice, but tonight, they are coming for a fight!} Jim: Fans we are back and we can tell you that Stan Hansen has been taken to the hospital. We are unsure of his condition. Bill: Well he hit that post about as hard as I have ever seen. We know how dangerous that Lariat can be but with his arm in that condition, there’s no telling what could happen. Jim: Fans we will try to update you when we can. Bill we saw a little bit from the Fantastics there… tonight they take on the Destroyers… what could a victory mean for either of these teams? Bill: I think it is pretty clear that the winner of this contest could be next in line for a tag team title shot. But who knows who the champions will be? Jim: I have to agree there. I am looking forward to that contest tonight. Another contest I am looking forward too is this next one. Fans the Tonga Kid is coming in from the Carolinas, he has got a ton of talent but tonight he takes on Tiger Chung Lee… let’s head to the ring! Tonga Kid vs Tiger Chung Lee w/ Tojo {Tiger Chung Lee doesn’t seem impressed with the Tonga Kid but these two go right after one another and it seems as though Tiger has got a score to be settled. Tojo is outside the ring riling up the crowd and Tonga is taking a moment to get things going but once he does the pace is turned up. Tonga is flying all around the ring with some big strikes and a pair of huge dropkicks. Tonga then goes for a flying headbutt but Tiger Chung Lee with a mafia kick right in the throat! Tonga goes down hard but Tiger is hurting too. He stumbles for a moment and he is looking to do something else as he picks up Tonga but Kid comes from behind and pulls him over with a backslide for the 1….2….3!! Tonga has won it and he rolls out of the ring! The crowd goes apeshit! Tonga is holding his throat but Tiger is looking for revenge!} *COMMERCIAL* Jim: Fans we are back… Tojo Yammamota, what in the world is going on here? Tojo: This is tragedy. This is garbage. We want him again! Bill: Listen pal, your boy lost… plain and simple! Tojo: Oh you Mr. Watts… you bring in all comers for my Tiger Chung Lee. You bring Tonga to Superdome…we will make sure he does not come out alive! Bill: I will run it by him… but I am guessing he’ll be there! {Tojo and Tiger back off as Watts and Ross put it over.} Jim: Fans I don’t think we need to explain how important this contest is tonight with the Junkyard Dog and Ted Dibiase. Tonight the North American Title is on the line. Tonight the loser must leave Mid South. And tonight, both men are going to be locked together by a Dog Collar! Bill: There is so much, but people gotta understand. Thee two men have such an issue being around one another. We’ve seen Dibiase go to so many lengths to try and beat the Dog. Tonight he’ll have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide! Jim: Fans we know both men will stop at nothing, but they have to make it to the Superdome first… right now they are in six-man action… let’s go to the ring! MAIN EVENT Junkyard Dog, Bruiser Brody, & ThunderBolt Patterson vs Ted Dibiase, The Sheik, & Don Muraco {What a main event. We have got so many intertwining stories going into this one. We get a fun start with Muraco and Brody. It then turns a little more vicious with Sheik and ThunderBolt. Watts and Ross put over how these two guys had a skirmish backstage tonight when they arrive and look forward to that battle tonight. Watts then announces that the Tonga Kid is going to face Tiger Chung Lee tonight. The crowd then explodes as the JYD and Dibiase get their hands on one another. These two guys are throwing some huge rights and lefts and the fans oooh and aaah with each shot. Dibiase is quick to get out as television time is running down. We have got just moments left. Brody with a huge kick on the Sheik sending him out of the ring to the floor. ThunderBolt them comes out and we’ve got some stiff shots. Inside the ring Dibiase runs with a cross body but JYD catches him and they go through the ropes. Brody then catches Muraco with a BODYSLAM and he runs for the flying knee drop!! The bell rings though as Pee Wee Anderson watches Dibiase CRACK JYD with a chair outside the ring! Brody had Muraco pinned inside the ring! Dibiase gets on top of JYD and he is busting him in the skull with right hands! Brody and Patterson attempt to check on him. Fans it is going to go down tonight in the SuperDome… who will survive… will it be DIBIASE OR THE JYD!?!?} -

Pretty good stuff to open up here with Kev. My biggest advice would be to look at your formatting. Check out other shows and see "how" they are written and presented and try to incorporate your own style in there. I know there are some page breaks that have loosened up through this post so just double check when all is said and done. Find a way for the matches to pop out rather than blend in with the rest. In terms of the booking, very good stuff and it is good to keep some continuity and hear some promos from some of the guys working. Solid start and something to build off of nicely.

Exactly... you backed out on deals and I am the one who is the bad guy in all of this for calling you out on it. In regards to what is going on here, this model stifles you until someone else gets out of the way. In this case it is Goc and I already have issues due to his behavior which is counter productive to wanting to just stay around until he goes away. That is not how it works, a company should be able to rise up if it's outdoing a bigger company. I have proven that with my productivity and work on the project by even doubling production and picking up the WWF this month and not faltering one bit.
-
I don't want to "take over the world" I simply want to build to a cult/national promotion. Drafts allow that. The merger system does not unless the person in front of you goes down. I don't plan on working with Goc in any way. Whether it would be a battle working with or against one another. Plain and simple, I can't trust him when he backed out on deals with me for wrestlers and with Houston. We've gone through it over and over. Look at his profile and signature, I don't see any kind of positive in allowing that behavior to go continue and like I said, he is part of this game and I would do my best to have no deals with him. I am sure he will have something topical to say in return, but there is no more truth that what was just typed. With the way you have it set up, I am just waiting for him to quit in order for me to grow which isn't productive.
-
Okay, with that clarification and some of the other issues that have been public on here, I will finish out the month then for the WWF and Mid South and see where it stands. I understand the idea of "long term booking" and yes I have played this game before, but I am not big on how minimal and tedious growth is with this model.
-
Okay, but still, the only way for my roster to grow is for the promotion in front of me to go down, so there is little to no chance that I will be able to build into a cult or national style with 30 or so workers on the roster given this scenario that has been laid out. I want to be able to run two house shows a day and not have a "mega" roster but definitely have something similar to a WWF/JCP/Mid South 1984-86 feel with some great talents and building blocks. This model doesn't allow for that to happen.
-
Okay, so after all this discussion, the only way to get an actual influx of new talent instead of just our monthly drafts of getting 1 or maybe 2 people is to have the promotion in front of you go down and absorb it? There is no way we will be doing any drafts or anything?
-
In this instance though, if Mid South wasn't picked up or taken it would merge with Georgia which would allow the roster pick ups and such is what I am saying. My stance, as stated earlier is that I want a bigger roster and want to make sure it is done the right way with no loopholes. The current barriers prohibit that from happening so I want to try and figure out a way to get out of this what I'd like in order to continue and be successful.
-
So at this point, I could take over Georgia, merge it with Mid South, create my ideal roster, and be run as GCW?
-
I don't think anything has been "constantly" changed, but with this current scenario, a precedent should be set and agreed upon by those who are still willing and committed to the overall production of the project. Like Dawho said, we won't all be happy with this outcome but there has to be some sort of mutual ground. The interesting notion would be how it would be handled if an individual, like for instance Goc took over WCCW instead, would his Southwest Roster be absorbed into Mid South then? Would Alabama go backwards in the order and take over Georgia what would happen to his roster he's accumulated?
-
Outside of Houston, New Orleans, and Oklahoma City, I could care less about towns.
-
. That would be my steer as we've used this process before, and is the most realistic no? I don't think it is as realistic as it has been sold to the public. I am all for a draft due to the same reasons El Boricua doesn't want to take the Florida guys. It is no secret that I want to expand and these parameters do not allow for that and in all reality limit our ability to grow unless the person in front of us dies. No offense to Goc, but he is staying around with Southwest, so therefore something tragic would have to happen in order for me to ever get than influx of talent to make my promotion grow, which limits why I would want to keep going in the first place. I want to build a roster and create a cult/nationalized style much like the WWF, Crockett, and Watts did in the mid 80s but this doesn't allow that to happen. If we are putting forth that talent will never be drafted, I would rethink my stance and what the future would hold. I am not taking my ball and going home, but simply stating that if I am not allowed to grow (outside of numerous talent trades, which we have seen become ineffective due to inactivity), I don't see the overall purpose of continuing. Much like the REAL world did if we look at things in that sense, the individuals who did the most got the most, Vince and Crockett made the most money and picked up the talent they wanted to grow regardless of where they were geographically. This is also very true, wouldn't you pick up WCCW? I wouldn't because Goc is in line for Dallas and I am in line for San Antonio. If Goc were to pass then I would, but there in lies the entirety of the issue with someone having to give up in order for another to get something which isn't the easiest line to cross.
-

While we are on this topic, I would also like to ask about us who are active switching promotions. Since there are open promotions, wouldn't those of us running a promotion have the ability to to swap promotions and switch if we wanted?
-
So are we staying that there is no disposal draft of this town and that the individuals to pick them up will be able to keep all the original town, and if the promotion is not pick up it wouldn't be merge into the next promotion?
