  1. This isn't an all time classic but this feud is just the kind of hate-filled intense work I love. I thought Grumpy Jumbo started with the Misawa feud but we have him here on full display, and shithead heel Tenryu too. Dammit, I'm going to have to spend all my money and time on All Japan Classics watching as much of this as I can.
  2. The result of a champ v champ match in 1985 is pretty much a foregone conclusion, but this was very good nonetheless. I'm not the biggest Flair fan, and Flair in Japan doesn't work for me either. But again, Martel in 1985 has just been a revelation for me - if his AWA stuff from that year is as good as his All Japan work, he definitely has a case for best in the world. Especially loved Martel's counter to Ric's knee drop, where he blocked it, held the leg, stood up and worked a figure four on Flair.
  3. Man I loved this too. 100% agree on Martel - his selling of the deathlock was so damn good here. I wish Choshu had given him some more offense, but I can't complain too much about a 15 minute match. And how over was Choshu in 1985? Crowd just ate up everything he did. RE: the finish, it was a 15:00 draw.

    FloSlam

So FloSports' "Managing Editor", Jeremy Botter, is out already. Can FloSlam be on the ropes this soon?
  5. Send a PM to goodhelmet.
  6. That sounds rather more than "minor". Looks like this caught DM by surprise.
  7. Sounded like a garage door? And the burping is every week

    WWE TLC 2016

If Russo were booking this, Renee would dump Dean for Ellsworth. Yet another great AJ performance. I love Hero but it's AJ's year I think.

    WWE TLC 2016

They were great during Miz-Ziggler. Corbin just isn't over.

    WWE TLC 2016

Glad some folks liked it. Thought the first half was pretty boring and while the back half was a ton better, the finish felt pretty flat. I liked the finish - heel winning with a nut shot works for me.

    WWE TLC 2016

That's what happens when you lose an election, Rhyno. Vince likes winners.
  12. This was awesome. Hot crowd super into Jumbo, and Martel bringing it. Really intense and dramatic finishing stretch - crowd was biting on nearfalls for Jumbo's suplexes and Martel's sleeper and cross-body. Was never a huge Martel fan before this, looks like I'm going to have to buy that AWA set and get deeper into him.
  13. Wait, what? That's crazy.
  14. Finished up the set last night. Thanks to Will and Boricua and whoever else helped to put the set together. I know a lot of this stuff was available via YouTube, but having it organized in one place is incredibly valuable.
  15. So just to be clear...you're suggesting that at points "throughout history" some wrestling companies have given Meltzer money to rate their matches five stars, so they could sell more DVD's? Yes , thats exactly what I am saying , and not only DVDs but he is a huge contributor to bringing awareness good or bad to companies. He is a great tool used to propel business. I am sure him and Vince McMahon have sat down and discussed business that would benefit both parties involved , I find it very bizarre that in the world of wrestling that this would be so hard to belive. Its ok as a fan to belive that professional wrestling is a work , but it's not ok to think that Meltzer is also a work? Why would I think that Meltzer is legit or has an agenda that is anything but the same agenda as the companies he "reports" about? Meltzer is a tool for the professional wrestling buisness to make money. Period. That's his role. Media in general is used to propel buisness , it's used that way in every aspect of life not only Professional Wrestling. Media makes money for Corporate structures propelling ideas and ideologies , that's why it's crazy for me to think that in the Wrestling world this would be unique and different. Lets both move on from this topic and conversation , I am sure we both have better stuff to do and would probably both benefit from just leaving it alone. I understand your position and respect it , so let's move on now. You're accusing - without a shred of evidence - the most widely read and respected pro wrestling journalist of regularly taking bribes from wrestling companies, and calling anyone who disagrees with you a "smart mark". And you want us to respect your position and move on from this topic?
  16. Similar deal - one of my uncles was disappointed and confused during Kane's entrance at a house show he took me and my younger cousins to. When he came into the ring, he did his thing with his hands and the house lights came up, but there was no fire on the ring posts. My uncle felt a bit ripped off.
  17. I had to bail out early of the Street interview. A little too much putting himself over (taking credit for glam rock, come on) and hustling his books (7 autobiographies!) for my tastes.
  18. Man, Gary Hart sure wasn't afraid to get racist on these Puerto Rico promos.
  19. HAHAHAHA. One million stars!
  20. Quite the difference between Goldberg and a drug-tested Lesnar.
  21. Despite being insanely long and poorly booked, I was rarely bored. Like the Sting/HHH match, I'll just mark it down as goofy, stupid fun and move on.
  22. It gave me a nice smile, and the crowd gave a nice pop for it. Not quite as much as it should have, but it was still nice.
  23. Yeesh, that was bad. Looked like it knocked Roman silly too. Hope they're both okay.
  24. I'm ripping this off from someone on Twitter, but as much as I admire Shane's guts in doing those nutty stunts he shouldn't be an equal to the rest of the roster. It was absurd 15 years ago against Angle and it's dumber now that he's in his late 40s. But it's WWE, what are you going to do?
  25. I know AJ's bit this year is to do a giant death bump every big match but I don't know if that was been it. Looked like Braun didn't quite toss him hard enough.
