Huge News! Tully and Arn win the WWF Tag Titles! Wow, I did not see that coming at this point but man that's awesome. I like how Tully and Arn do the job to Hogan and Savage in Detroit and bounce back the next night to win the titles. I think their rematches with the Hart Foundation will be money. However, the Hart Foundation looks to have unfinished business with Demolition. Things in the tag division have become very interesting. Flair has the World Title. Windham has the IC title and now Tully and Arn have the tag straps. The 4 Horsemen rule the WWF right now. The clubs in Chicago made a lot of money that night. I love the Flair/Santana main events. I think their chemistry works so well here. The Hennig/Valentine matches looked pretty solid and I hope this program continues for a bit. Power and Glory/Rockers continues to be a fun feud.

Really glad you guys liked the debut of George Wells here. The stars aligned on this. I was looking for a new partner for Timbs as the Fabulous Blondes, when Kev popped up George Wells name on Free Agency. I just thought the Master G gimmick would work so well here. This should be a lot of fun. Side note- I always liked George Wells and growing up I had the pleasure of watching him wrestle live at the Oakland Coliseum. Man, he was over in the Bay Area.

What an awesome week this has been! Showdown at Shea finishes an epic week of Super Cards! Fun 6 man tag to open the show. Rockers had a good shine. Atlas and Studd still have unfinished business. Strong finish by the heels. Very good booking here as Hennig gets his first TV title defense over the very credible Muraco. Oh snap! The Blade Runners in the WWF! This is way to cool! They're gimmicks fit in so well here and this team is going to generate some big time excitement. LOL! Valentine and the shin guard, this is fantastic. Valentine sends out a strong message that he's a threat. The tornado match was chaotic fun. Man, after that finish, Demolition deserves to be number one contenders. The IC title match was classic but I was expecting nothing less from these two greats. This epic feud has been going on awhile and the heat just keeps coming as shown here tonight. It turns up to an even higher level! This has been one of my favorite feuds in the game and it looks like it's far from over. The Tag Title match had a hard act to follow but man the Foundation and Russians do the job. Intense match here with the Russians hurting Anvil with the chain. The Russians looked really strong tonight. Incredible babyface comeback by the Hart Foundation as they retain. Now they have Demolition to deal with. Typical Andre match but when it's Andre, that's all you need. Andre gets his revenge and the fans are happy. The main event, and wow was that ever a main event match. The helicopter entrance by the Horsemen was awesome! Funny side note, I had Dibiase ride out in a limo and that idea came from Flair's epic helicopter entrance. Hogan manages to eclipse this by getting a 50,000 fan pop! The match was off the charts. I loved the reference to Wahoo's football days with the Jets. The match was full of drama and anticipation. I could just imagine the roar when Hogan finally got his hands on Flair. Tito has a great shining moment with the flying forearm blast. The Horsemen looked strong but Hulkamania runs wild in the end. This just sets up more anticipation for the inevitable Flair/Hogan rematch. Awesome Job! With this being such a success I can only hope for a Showdown at Shea 3 next year.

A lot went down. Crockett: You're right about that Tony. A lot of old scores were settled, new grudges began and looks like some haven't been resolved. Ted Dibiase retained the United States Title in a bloody hard fought steel cage match against Hacksaw Duggan. Later on in the show, we will hear from Dibiase on location from one of his many vacation spots. Speaking of the US title, this weekend in Greensboro there will be an 8 man tournament to decide the new number one contender to the title. The winner will also receive 5,000 dollars. That's certainly one way to make an impact here. Bull: First off David, I cant tell you how great it is to be here! I'm pumped up and ready for action here in Mid Atlantic! As you may know, I was born and raised in Florida. I grew up watching Dusty Rhodes. I became a wrestler because of Dusty Rhodes. So when I was at the Bash and saw Dusty getting double teamed, well I couldn't stand by and let that happen. It was literally a dream come true to be standing side by side with the Dream. And now it gets better because on July 19th in Daytona Beach FL, It's going to be me and Dusty Rhodes taking on Rude and Fernandez! David, I cant wait! Sweet Brown Sugar vs. Lou Simms Sugar hip tosses and drop kicks Simms all over the ring. Sugar swings Simms to the ropes and back drops him then goes to the top turnbuckle. Simms staggers up and Sugar hits a missile drop kick for the pin! Sugar goes out and slaps hands with the cheering fans. Sugar has really gotten over with the Mid Atlantic crowds. Fuller vertical suplexes Rooney, goes to the 2nd turnbuckle and crashes down with a knee drop for the pin! The fans boo as Fuller heads to the podium. Schiavone: Well Fuller, I'm going to come right out and say it. Why did you interfere in the NWA World title match at the Bash? I believe you costed Austin Idol his chance at the world title. Fuller: You know Tony Schiavone, it's a crying shame that Austin Idol didn't win that prestigious title. It really is. But what you and that bottom of the barrel licking Austin Idol forget is that title shot was rightfully mine. There was no way Idol could beat that Russian Monster but a big man like myself could have. Now Idol, if you have a problem with me, well I'm not a hard man to find son. Commercial Break Crockett: (Smiling) Fans, with me right now is JJ Dillon. Well JJ, the Bash didn't work out so well for you and King Kong Bundy. JJ: Wipe that smile off your face Crockett. What everybody saw at the Bash was a crime committed by one Bad News Brown. Not only did he steal the 10,000 dollars but he used the briefcase as a weapon on Bundy. Bundy is at home recovering. So not only did Bad News Brown commit robbery but also assault with a deadly weapon. I want Bad News Brown out here right now! The crowd roars as Bad News Brown walks out frowning. He walks to the podium. JJ backs up a bit, regroups and starts in. JJ: Mr. Brown, you're in serious trouble. You stole a large sum of money from myself. You will return it right now or I'm pressing charges. Do you understand? Brown: To Bad! The money is gone. Yea, I spent it, every last penny. As a matter of fact, I bought myself a brand new Cadillac and boy is it nice. If you or that Fat Man Bundy have a problem with that, go ahead and do something about it! JJ: I will do something! I'm calling the police and you're going to jail, a place I'm sure a criminal like yourself is very familiar with. JJ walks away but Brown grabs him by his shirt and turns him around. Brown: You know what! I do have something left. I have the receipt to my Cadillac. Brown grabs the receipt out of his pocket and shoves it in JJ's mouth. Brown tosses JJ on the ground and walks out. The fans boo as Brad heads to the podium. Brad: You simpletons just saw why I'm the Professor of wrestling. Bob Backlund knows why I'm the Professor of wrestling. Bob Backlund failed Wrestling 101 and I had to drop him. That's right, Bob Backlund is no longer in Mid Atlantic and I'm the reason why. I outclassed him, I out worked him and I out wrestled him! I'm a true wrestler and I'm in a class of my own. If any wrestler wants to be taught a lesson then sign up for the Professor's class, I now have an open spot. These guys are the best team in the NWA and on July 19th, the Rock n Roll Express are going to find that out first hand. As for Polynesian Power, well they just aren't in the Southern Ramblers league. Now, more big news in the Paul Jones Army. Everybody saw it at the Bash, so welcome out the newest member of the Paul Jones Army...Blackjack Mulligan! Mulligan walks out and shakes hands with the Ramblers and Paul Jones. Jones: This man right here is as rough and tough as they come. A true Mid Atlantic legend. Rip Oliver! You're nothing but a fool with a bleeding heart. I should of never wasted my time on you in the first place. You don't have what it takes to be in my Army. This man does and you and that other fool Jimmy Valiant already felt that and guess what? There's a lot more to come. Mulligan: It's simple! This man is paying me a lot of money to rid Mid Atlantic of Rip Oliver and Jimmy Valiant. I don't care about titles. I wont be distracted! I'm being paid a lot of money to do a job and believe me Paul, you're money will be well spent. I wont show any mercy! Oliver! You're just gutless! Like Paul said, you don't have what it takes. Schiavone: The Assassins steal a victory with help from the Flame. The Assassin has himself a very dangerous group of masked men. Fans in Greensboro, this weekend you will see a tournament as 8 men will compete, with the winner receiving 5,000 dollars and will be named number one contender to the US title. Well fans, as promised we're going to end the program with words from the United States Champion, the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. I understand he's on vacation. See you next week. Ted Dibiase is sitting on a beach. Bandages on forehead, sunglasses and having his shoulders massaged by a woman. Dibiase: As you peons can see, I'm on a long overdue vacation and might I add well deserved (Laughs) You see, when you have vast amounts of money, which I do, you can go anywhere in the world you want. When your the United States Champion, which I am, you can defend the title whenever you want. Speaking of title defenses, at the Great American Bash, everybody saw me defeat that poor excuse, even for the working class, Jim Duggan. Did you people think for one second, the outcome would be any different? News flash peons, put back together your broken hearts and find a new hero. But this time don't get to attached because I'll just shatter your hopes again and again. Listen up Crocketts! From now on, I call the shots! Like I said earlier, I'll decide when and where I'll defend this title. Now, I'll be doing some traveling this month. I thought it would be fun to crush some top names in other promotions. And it gives me a whole new audience of hearts to break (Laughs). So Mid Atlantic, go ahead and hold this little number one contender tournament. And to the winner, don't spend the 5,000 dollar winnings in one place (Laughs)

The tension and heat is really building on some great feuds. The Jacques/OMG match ends in chaos as their enemies interfere. I have a good feeling we're going to get some huge matches soon. Infernales are racking up the wins. The Road Warriors and SST going at it is always money to me. MS-1 pulls double duty tonight and looks strong but that dirty Don Kernodle manages to walk out with the title. -
The long awaited Great American Bash card has arrived and wow did it ever go above and beyond expectations! I liked Victor opening the show with an impressive debut. Boyd and Crusher get back into the tag ranks with a solid win over the Battens. St. Clair and Singh take their heated rivalry over here. St. Clair gets the C.O. but I don't think this feud is over. Dutch and Jaggers was every bit the fight I thought it would be. WOW, Austin Idol runs in and helps Jaggers get the win. I'm sure Dutch is going to want some old fashion revenge. This is what I love about territories. Idol is a top face in Mid Atlantic but a hated heel here. Great stuff. Von Erich's and Funks brought their craziness here and man was it crazy. Terry's pre match promo was classic. Loved the wild finish and it seems the Von Erich's really got over with the crowd. Tamba and Leduc was a fun match. Tamba might of got the C.O. victory but I don't think Leduc is done with him or Chicky. Owen and Santana was high flying and non stop action with some intense heel work by Owen. Owen wins the title! Chicky comes out to congratulate him. I guess aligning with Chicky has paid off for Owen. Looking forward to more of this relationship. Mercenarios beat the Caribbean Express in a chaotic match. Chicky is everywhere tonight but his interference and distractions are paying off for his guys. I can tell the fans are happy about this LOL. I really liked the Jacques/Keith match. Bruce and Kernodle added so much to this. The finish was perfect and sets up Jacques/Kernodle so well. The gem I was waiting for as TNT takes on Gama. The match lived up to expectations and I loved the back and forth battle. Even from up top in a cage, Profe manages to determine the outcome. I liked the finish because it elevates TNT to another level. Gama really put him and his finisher over well and then even does the stretcher job. That was a great blow off. Medicos and Starrs was a fun fast paced match. Starrs retain but were showered with trash. Chicky is way beyond heat level. Battle of the power guys as Ayala and Bam Bam have a hard hitting contest here. Bam Bam wins the belt, in sort of a passing of the torch match. Love the display of sportsmanship afterwards. Nice contrast from the last match, as Invader 3 and Benoit go at it for the NWA Light heavyweight title. This is one of those show stealing matches as these guys put on a classic. Invader 3 wins the title! Great match and Invader 3 should be a fun champion. The Invaders/Pastores fight was literally insane! Fans getting involved, police with batons, just a wild scene! It doesn't look like these teams are finished with each other. Next up we get an eagerly awaited NWA World Title rematch between Nikita and Martel. I wonder what the argument between Martel, Invader 1 and Colon was about? Martel has been pretty beaten up lately but gives Nikita a good fight. Nikita looks strong at the end with 2 sickles. Man, it looked like Nikita was ready to take on the entire stadium. I have to say, Nikita has had a strong showing at the Bash cards. In one week he's defended against Idol, Magnum and Martel. Who can dethrone this monster??? After all of this, it's the grudge match of all grudges. This match was perfect booking as Colon just takes it to Abby and goes after the eye, even using a fork of his own. The Doctor stopping the match just shows how crazy Colon was on revenge and that he succeeded in achieving that. It's obvious the fans loved this as Colon gets a hero's celebration with the crowd. That was an awesome way to end the show and send the fans home very happy. You did an excellent job and this card exceeded all the hype. It had something for everyone and the ending was so well done. The NWA must be ecstatic as WWC represents with a very successful Great American Bash show!

You know it's going to be a hot show when Andre/Mulligan open. Satanico gets a big win over Charland. The GAEA showcase match looked pretty amazing. This Adias/Sunny situation is really heating up well. That's going to be one heck of a collision when they finally meet one on one. The very same goes for OMG and Kokina. SST and Killer Bees put on a great main event. Fatu showed he can really handle himself. -
Good last show build up to the July 5th extravaganza. Sports Shop was classic. LOL Chicky going on that cheating rant was hilarious. Hmmmm I wonder what's going on with him and Profe??? Dutch and Jaggers is going to be one heck of a brawl. Santana looks strong on TV as he prepares for Owen. I've said this before but the Gama/TNT feud has been a nice gem. Ayala sounds like he's ready for Bam Bam. The build to July 5th has been awesome. So much going on and to top it all off, we get the epic confrontation between Colon and Abdullah. The 'eye for an eye' comment guarantees a sold out stadium.
-
Muraco is a good first challenger for Hennig. Who is Sting's new partner??? Main event was a lot of fun and sets up even more intrigue in the tag team division. The Horsemen promo was the highlight for me. It reminded me why they are the elite. I could listen to Arn promos all day. Windham must be driving Savage insane with those Liz comments. Flair tops it off and validates his points. Showdown at Shea will be an epic event.

Sheepherders carry over their AWA momentum and get a big win here over the Killer Bees. Looks like Charland gave OMG a battle but comes up short. Nice to see Los Infernales come back to Lutte and get a strong win. Jacques has been on a tear recently. St. Clair gets a little break from Singh and gets a solid win, but I believe he's back on a plane to WWC to face Singh. I wonder if this intense week of travel will affect him?? Man, Kernodle is making a lot of dangerous enemies. His days as champ might be numbered. -
I noticed George Wells was added to the list. MACW would love to pick him up.
-
Couple of great cards. Zenk continues his unbelievable win streak. Zenk turning heel has done wonders for his career. Snakepit seems focused and have been on a tear. Roberts proved that with the DDT on Dundee. Both Pillman and Finley are coming on strong in singles competition. Looks like Adams has officially gained the trust of Ron Garvin, a very good guy to have on your side. Sheepherders are causing some serious havoc in the tag team division. Never get tired of British Steel and Bullies going at it. Larry Z, Saito and Bock look to be on the same page with that win over the Guerreros. Steamboat gets in 2 solid title defenses against 2 very tough customers. I'm loving Steamboat's title run here. Well, it looks like the injuries have finally caught up to Spivey. He had a fantastic title run. He went out fighting and there's no shame in that. I am happy that Orton has a belt. Solid choice.
-
Very fun SNME! I have to say, I think Hennig/Valentine stole the show. What a great feel good moment on TV as Hennig wins the title. The pictures at the end sum it all up. Exciting 6 man tag match. Windham and Hogan going toe to toe was a great visual and I wouldn't mind seeing them in a program down the road. I'm sure the fans popped hard for that finish. The Tag Title bout ends with a DQ but the Russians make a huge statement here. The Russians have set themselves up as serious threats. Great World Title bout as Flair and Wahoo give the fans one heck of a chop fest. Flair proves to be the dirtiest player in the game and gets the C.O. victory courtesy of Angel's shoe. Great way to set up a rematch. After reading this, I cant wait to see what happens at the Showdown at Shea card.
-
Happy 3 year anniversary! I joined last year and it's been non stop fun. 1986 has been an amazing year of wrestling all over the world and I'm sure that will carry into 1987. It's been great working with all of you.

Man, that was awesome! This card had it all. Twists, turns, swerves, title changes, excitement and drama. I thought for sure Street and Adonis were going to go over. Adonis sure left his mark in the UWF with that post match attack on Street and Linda. Lawler returns! Ross on commentary really made that a big moment. Lawler gives the fans what they were dying to see and bashes the guitar over HTM's head. JYD returns to the Superdome and gets a hard fought victory over Dick Murdoch. I know the fans popped huge for that. Leather strap match was a wild one. Bullet Bob is going to need an army now that the Long Riders have aligned with Fuller and Wright. The Luger/Gilbert match was filled with suspense. Missy and Baby Doll really added to this feud and played their parts so well in this match. That moment where Rich held that loaded purse had me going for a second. Great blow off here. Fun National Tag Title match. The Blondes were solid challengers but RnR get their textbook win. You're right, their formula works so well here. I really liked the Slater/Taylor match. Cornette adds so much just with his presence. Feel good ending with Taylor winning the Continental title. Taylor can really shine here in the UWF. The 4 corners UWF tag title match was non stop action. I didn't know who was going to come out champs. The finish was fantastic with the underdogs taking home the titles. The excitement continues as Dr. Death has enough of Akbar. Dr. Death and Doom feuding with Devastation Inc will be one crazy hard hitting feud. The main event lived up to all the hype. Magnum has the title within his grasp until interference costs him the title. What a swerve to end the show as Ole Anderson is revealed as the Russian Assassin!!! Cant wait to see the follow up on this. Every match delivered and a lot of storylines were set up. I would say the UWF's Great American Bash was a tremendous success!
-
Great brawl between Dutch and Jaggers. I also loved the avoided foreign objects line. Good tension building between TNT and Gama. I'm really looking forward to Owen and Santana. Wow, Chicky takes a chair shot and gets pinned. Perfect set up for the Starr's title match against Medicos. The build to July 5th has been a wild ride!
-
Thank you guys for the great feedback. I really enjoyed building up and writing this card. I wanted to make it a big deal as a mid year supercard. The build to Starrcade will be a lot of fun. Normally I wouldn't do this many run ins and interference on one show. I felt Bad News Brown would be perfect in the angle with Bundy and there will be a fun follow up to this. As for Bull Gantner. Lowblow built him up and utilized him well in WWF, so I wanted to carry that momentum over. I figured getting a rub from Dusty against the Awesome Twosome would be a good way to get him over with the Mid Atlantic fans. But don't worry, I have huge plans for the Awesome Twosome. I wanted to have Snuka really shine in his match with Crews before the run in. Haku's interference continues their unfinished business. As for the World Title Match, I wanted Nikita to look really strong but didn't want to bury Idol to bad. Idol will bounce back and continue his feud with Fuller.

Good grief! Where do I begin? Man that was some serious non stop action. As I've said before, I really enjoy lower card feuds and you set up a couple of fun one here with Putski/Rogers and Houston/Jimmy Jack. Super Destroyers win a fun gauntlet match, setting them up as a serious threat. Headhunters continue their dominant reign. Funks and Freebirds together!!! Oh man that's serious trouble for Dusty Rhodes. Brody had quite a night in Ft. Worth. Ted Dibiase is a huge part of all this and he's not even in the building. What a great and creative angle this is. The War Games is going to be insane! This is got to be the most anticipated match of the summer. WCCW is the perfect place for Dr. D. Kerry gets the win but I have a feeling we're going to be seeing more of Dr. D. -
MACW Presents The Great American Bash 86, Memorial Stadium Charlotte NC 7-2-86 Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to the Great American Bash! It is my pleasure to be a part of this historic night of action. I will be providing match commentary along with my partner David Crockett. Well David, we already have a big announcement to make regarding tonight's show. Crockett: Tony, great to be here and yes we have big news. On June 29th at Lutte's Heatstroke card, Art Crews upset Jimmy Snuka to become the NWA National Champion. Snuka was set to defend the title against Haku tonight. Snuka has invoked his rematch clause for tonight and so it will be Art Crews defending the National Title against Jimmy Snuka. Schiavone: Sounds like that is settled. Wow, what an amazing sight this is as I look around this stadium and see 30,000 fans ready for the show. We wont keep you waiting, let's get the Great American Bash started! US Tag Team Title Bout Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley (C) vs. Los Infernales Los Infernales come to the ring wearing the US titles they stole. Johnson and Cooley hit the ring and the match is on. The champs pound away on Los Infernales. They swing MS-1 to the ropes and put him down with a double fist to the head, then run over and nail Morgan with a double fist. The champs control the start with quick tags, hip tosses, back drops, body slams and drop kicks. Next segment is controlled by Los Infernales. MS-1 goes out and picks Cooley up and Morgan jumps off the apron and hits Cooley with a Senton! Johnson runs around the ring and double clotheslines Los Infernales! After order is restored, MS-1 rolls Cooley into the ring and goes for a body splash but Cooley puts his knees up, rolls over and tags in Johnson! Johnson and Cooley raise them up to the cheering crowd. 'Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant vs. Rip Oliver Paul Jones keeps his word and doesn't come out with Oliver. These two put on a fun little 5 minute match, as it goes back and forth. Valiant swings Oliver to the ropes and back drops him then follows with a body slam. Valiant swings off the ropes and hits the jumping elbow drop 1..2..Oliver gets his foot on the rope. Valiant swings Oliver into the turnbuckles and charges in but Oliver gets both knees up and nails Valiant. Oliver hops up on the 2nd turnbuckle. Valiant staggers up and Oliver nails him with a diving clothesline 1..2..3! Oliver is happy with the win. The fans boo as Paul Jones hits the ring with his cane. Jones is telling Oliver to finish Valiant off with the cane. Oliver is arguing with him. It starts to get heated then escalates as Jones is jumping up and down with the cane. Oliver starts to walk away and an irate Jones slaps him! Now Oliver is irate. The fans roar as Oliver grabs Jones by his shirt. Oliver clenches his fist and looks at the cheering crowd. Oliver is ready to hit Jones when Blackjack Mulligan runs in and clotheslines Oliver from behind. A shaken up Jones falls back against the turnbuckles. Mulligan grabs the cane and nails Valiant with it several times, then hurls Valiant out of the ring. Oliver slowly stands and Mulligan clotheslines him with the cane! Jones gets up and raises Mulligan's arm as the fans boo. Tony St. Clair and Antonio Inoki vs. WWC Champ Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh Whatever this Referee is making for this match, it isn't enough. Singh and St. Clair start fighting on the outside. Abdullah goes right after Inoki. All four men are fighting on the outside. The Ref figures he's better off letting them go for awhile. After a few minutes of brawling, Singh and St. Clair are busted open. It doesn't take long for Inoki to start bleeding as Abdullah got out the fork. Inoki gets some payback and rams Abdullah's head on the steel post, busting him open. Order is somewhat restored as Singh and St. Clair are in the ring. St. Clair hits Singh with a heels first drop kick and tags in Inoki. Inoki hits a diving knee drop from the top rope and tags in St. Clair. St. Clair gets up on the top turnbuckle. He walks over to St. Clair and lifts the chair up but St. Clair kicks him several times, grabs the chair and nails Singh over the head! The Ref sees enough and is forced to signal for the bell. Prichard hoists Rich up on the turnbuckles and is going for the Superplex but Rich fires away and sends Prichard flying back. Rich sets up and is going for a fist drop but Riddle runs over and trips him, sending Rich straight down. Both men stagger up at the Ref's count of 8. They have an exchange. Prichard eye rakes Rich, body slams him and follows with an elbow drop off the 2nd rope and covers 1..2..Rich gets his shoulder up. The Great American Bash wouldn't be historic unless it had King Kong Bundy on the card. Well, we're going to make it historic. I have the briefcase and inside is 10,000 dollars. All anybody has to do is come out here and beat him for it. Right Bundy? Bundy: Anybody! I'm telling you right now, nobody can do it! I mean nobody! There's a huge commotion over the crowd. Crockett: Tony, somebody is coming to the ring. Wait a minute! That's Bad News Brown! Bad News Brown walks into the ring in street clothes. JJ arrogantly smiles and looks over Brown. Brown kicks JJ and yanks the briefcase out of his hands! Brown smacks Bundy over the head with the briefcase! Bundy wobbles back and forth. Brown nails him with the Ghetto Blaster! Orndorff gets in the ring and the crowd roars as he gives the signal. Orndorff hoists Race up and Piledrives him down on the chair! The Ref counts 1..2..3!!! The crowd goes crazy as a bloodied Orndorff retains the Mid Atlantic Title. NWA National Title Bout Art Crews (C) w/Rock Riddle vs. 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka Riddle is still in the back recovering so Crews is on his own. Snuka starts with fire as he swings Crews to the ropes and hits a flying headbutt. Snuka body slams Crews, swings off the ropes and hits a knee drop. Snuka swings off the ropes again and hits a diving headbutt. Snuka climbs to the top turnbuckles and flashes the 'I love you' sign. The crowd roars and flashes from cameras go off as Snuka leaps off and hits the Superfly Splash! The Ref counts 1..Haku hits the ring and starts kicking Snuka! The Ref signals for the bell. Art Crews is Disqualified and will retain the National Title. The fans are booing big time. Skandor Akbar is now in the ring and is telling Haku to punish Snuka. Haku picks Snuka up and puts him down with a kick to the face. Haku applies the Tongan death grip and puts the pressure on, until wrestlers and officials run out to stop this. And Tommy Rich retains the TV title in a draw with Tom Prichard but Rock Riddle found out what Wildfire is all about. MACW @ WTBS Studios TV (Recorded 6-25-86) Aired 6-28-86 Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Back with me this week is David Crockett. Well David, why don't you do the honors and tell the fans the latest news concerning the Great American Bash. Crockett: Thank you Tony. As you fans know, the Great American Bash comes to you on July 2nd in the Memorial Stadium located in the great wrestling city of Charlotte North Carolina. I'm excited to tell you that Tony and I will be there to provide live commentary, not only for our fans watching on Close Circuit, but Crockett Promotions will be recording the event so it can be sold and distributed on VHS tapes. Schiavone: That is exciting news David and I'm glad you were able to get that finalized. July 2nd will be a historic night for Mid Atlantic. As for tonight's show, in action will be Austin Idol, Mid Atlantic Champ Paul Orndorff, Tom Prichard, Corporal Kirchner, Tony St. Clair, Rip Oliver, Jimmy Valiant, Bob Backlund and Polynesian Power. Speaking of Polynesian Power, we have received word from the NWA Board of Directors concerning their match with the Southern Ramblers this weekend in Philadelphia. The winners of that match will receive a shot at the NWA National Tag Team Titles on July 19th. Heavy boos come from the crowd as Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez walk out to the podium. Fernandez: Listen up Daddy, you keep talking about all the great teams here in Mid Atlantic but you're looking at the best and I'm talking about the Awesome Twosome Daddy! There isn't a team here who can match up to us. When Ted Dibiase purchased our contracts, he promised opportunity, but man it's hard to get any opportunity when there's no competition to face. Tell them Rick. Rude: That's right! We say we're the best because we are. The facts have already been established. Every team in Mid Atlantic is ducking us. (Laughs) I mean nobody wants to get in the ring with the Awesome Twosome. I just feel bad for Ted, I hate seeing his hard earned money go to waste just because the tag team competition here is so weak. The crowd cheers as Rolling Thunder (Pedro Morales and Spike Huber) come out. Huber: You know, my partner and I have been in the back listening to you two run your mouths. You want some competition? Morales: We'll give it to you. In the ring...tonight! The fans cheer as Rolling Thunder head back. Fernandez and Rude smile at each other. Fernandez: We accept Daddy! Schiavone: Ok fans, there you have it. Our main event tonight will be Rolling Thunder taking on The Awesome Twosome. Let's go to the ring. Corporal Kirchner vs. Vic DeMarco Kirchner swings DeMarco to the ropes and gives him a boot to the face. Kirchner body slams DeMarco and follows with a standing Leg Drop. Kirchner hoists DeMarco up on his shoulders and drops him back with the Fallaway Slam for the pin! The fans cheer as Kirchner parades around the ring, holding the American Flag high. Kirchner cuts a promo saying the Rougeaus are pumped up and ready for the Bash. He says the Caspian Empire will fall and Don Kernodle's days are numbered. Commercial Break 'Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant vs. Carl Hillman Valiant swings Hillman to the ropes and back drops him, and follows with a body slam. Valiant swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop for the pin! Valiant cuts a promo and says he heard Oliver say he doesn't want Paul Jones at ringside during their match at the Bash. Valiant says he doesn't trust Jones and never will so he'll be watching out for him. Tony St. Clair vs. Aaron Arbuckle The fans cheer as St. Clair heads towards the ring but Tiger Jeet Singh nails him from behind! Singh hammers away on St. Clair and hurls him into the ring. Singh kicks Arbuckle and throws him through the ropes. The Ref tries to stop Singh but Singh throws him out of the ring! Singh turns around and is nailed with a European uppercut by St. Clair. St. Clair hits Singh with a flurry of European uppercuts, swings him to the ropes and clotheslines him. Officials storm the ring to break this up. After a moment, it's under control but Singh breaks free and nails Tony from behind with a double axe handle to the back of his head. Wrestlers from the back come out to help. Commercial Break Crockett: Order has finally been restored. Those two will be on opposing teams at the Bash but adding Antonio Inoki and Abdullah the Butcher to the mix equals more chaos in my opinion. I sure feel bad for the Referee who has to officiate that match. I want to take a moment and remind our great fans in Philadelphia that MACW comes to the Civic Center this weekend for a hard hitting card. You will see Bob Backlund squaring off against Brad Rheingans in a submission match. Polynesian Power take on the Southern Ramblers for a shot at the National Tag Team Titles. Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar take on the Assassins and Cobra in a 6 man Tornado match. Mark Youngblood clashes with Blackjack Mulligan and in a special attraction bout, Bruiser Brody goes up against Akira Maeda. Should be a great night of action. Well fans, with me right now is one JJ Dillon. JJ: (Arrogant smile) David Crockett, things couldn't be going better, thank you for asking. As you know, I have the most destructive force in wrestling, King Kong Bundy. He's so destructive that for the past two months we've put up 10,000 dollars to any man who can defeat him. Guess what? (Holds up the briefcase) I still have the money. One by one they've come in and one by one Bundy has knocked them down. I would say that's quite a track record. However, King Kong Bundy is somehow left off the Great American Bash card. I find that very puzzling. But do you really think that's going to prevent us from showing up? David, my boy, rest assured King Kong Bundy and myself will be attending the show and I dare anybody to try and stop him. Crockett: Well it looks like JJ and King Kong Bundy plan on making the trip to Charlotte, match or not. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. Fans, back to the ring. Bob Backlund vs. Lloyd London Backlund works over London with some solid Amateur wrestling. Bob's favoring his sore arm a bit but still looks sharp. Backlund hits a Running Atomic Drop on London, then applies the cross face chicken wing for the submission. Backlund cuts a promo on Rheingans and says hurt arm or not, he will make Rheingans submit in Philadelphia. Commercial Break Rip Oliver w/Paul Jones vs. Alex Portman Oliver body slams Portman a couple times then swings off the ropes and hits a knee drop. Oliver climbs to the 2nd turnbuckle. Portman staggers up and Oliver nails him with a flying clothesline for the pin! Oliver and Jones head to the podium and are met by the Southern Ramblers. Schiavone: With me right now is the entire Paul Jones Army. I've got to ask.. Jones: Stop right there Schiavone! You just keep your mouth shut and listen up. First things first, my Southern Ramblers, Johnny Rich and Randy Rose are going into Philadelphia this weekend for one reason, to beat that 2nd rate team Polynesian Power and get what's rightfully theirs, a shot at the National Tag Team Titles. The Southern Ramblers smile and nod in approval. Jones: Now, as far as the Great American Bash goes. Rip, I told you I would respect your wishes and stay away from ringside during your match with that lowlife Valiant. I will honor that but just remember the end game here. Understand? Oliver: How can I forget Paul, that's all you've been talking about since I arrived here. I remember the end game but just make sure you do. The end game is me getting a title shot once this situation with Jimmy Valiant is over. Do you understand? Jones: You do for me Rip and I will surely do for you. Commercial Break Polynesian Power vs. Steve Ramsey and Brad Kimber Sakalia swings Kimber to the ropes and hits a superkick and follows with three consecutive elbow drops and tags in Tui. Tui suplexes Kimber and tags in Sakalia. Sakalia hoists Kimber up and crashes back with the Samoan Drop and tags in Tui. Tui leaps off the top turnbuckle and crashes down with a flying elbow smash to get the pin! The fans cheer as Polynesian Power bump fists and hug. Polynesian Power cut a promo and say they've been waiting for this golden opportunity and the Southern Ramblers aren't going to stop them from achieving their goal. Schiavone: Polynesian Power have their sights set on the National Titles but the Southern Ramblers stand in the way. Ok fans, I want to bring out another young talented team here in Mid Atlantic, I'm talking about Joe Savoldi and Billy Travis known as Hot Property. Huge pop from the fans. Schiavone: Big night in Philly as the two of you team with Sweet Brown Sugar in a 6 man Tornado match against the Assassins and Cobra. That should be a wild one as both sides have had some major issues wi... The Assassins and Cobra come out and attack Hot Property! The Assassin is telling his guys to punish them. The crowd cheers as Sweet Brown Sugar runs out to even things up. All 6 men are fighting all over the place. Pandemonium is breaking loose! Please welcome out the Television champ, Tommy Wildfire Rich. The fans explode as Tommy Rich comes out with the TV title on his shoulder. Rich: Did somebody say something about fired up, because David, I'm fired up tonight! The fans boo as Rock Riddle and Tom Prichard walk to the podium. Riddle: Oh Davey Baby, I'm truly disappointed in you, I really am. My main man, the A lister himself Tom Prichard just puts on a stellar show for his fans and what do you do? You bring out this fluke of a chump Tommy Rich. Why are you wasting your time with this B level talent? I mean what is this? Amateur Hour? Crockett: I believe this is the man who beat your A lister for the TV title. That's why he's out here. Prichard: That was a fluke! Tommy Rich knows it and I know it! Come July 2nd baby, that title is coming back where it belongs, around the waist of a true blockbuster of a champion, which would be me. You don't deserve that belt Rich! You're nothing but a flop! Rich sets the title on the podium and takes off his jacket. Rich: Let me tell you something Mr. A lister. I do agree, you're at the top of the A list. You're the number one Ass in my book! I guarantee at the end of the match only one man will be left standing...and you're looking at him! Commercial Break The Awesome Twosome vs. Rolling Thunder Pretty fun TV match here. Huber and Morales control the early part with quick tags, arm drags, hip tosses and drop kicks. The momentum changes when Rude nails Huber with a knee to the back from outside the apron. NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling June 1986
spaldoni replied to SirEdger's topic in Promotions
Harley bounces back with a strong win over Goto. Hot Stuff is doing very well both in the UWF and over here in Lutte. He's really becoming a top name in the NWA. Andre has been on a roll here. I'm sure the fans are enjoying his nice run. I really like the tension building between Adias and Sunny. It's going to be a big deal when they finally meet one on one. Poor Jimmy Snuka, he loses the National title in a shocking upset, then has to face Kokina. Not a good week for him. Jacques gets a main event win over Idol. I wouldn't mind seeing Jacques get a shot at Nikita in front of a Lutte crowd.
