  1. I agree with AD, these behind the scenes reports give us a look into the entire Japanese wrestling scene. I know IRL, most Japanese wrestlers just came in for dates in the US and weren't on US rosters full time. Since we didn't have a Japan promotion in our game, I figured using Japanese wrestlers on our rosters was a great way to showcase their tremendous talents. I try to put in some type of realism by making sure Tsuruta and Fujinami always go back to Japan for extensive tours. If you ever want to use these guys for anything, just let me know.
  2. Enjoyed the opening as Bert puts a closure on his Memphis feud. If I worked in Memphis, I think I would give Bert a call. He doesn't seem like a bad guy to work for. Damn! A lot goes down with a double turn. The Renestos putting on hoods is so awesome, while Reno seals his heel turn. I have to admit, the Renestos are quickly becoming my favorite team in the game. Man, it's good to see Hickerson back in the game as an authority figure. Good call here. Hmmmm, Hickerson might have to have a word with Danny Davis. I do like Lee playing the knock off Flair gimmick here. Hey, it worked great for Landel hahaha. In one show, Reno has become the top heel. The turn and now brings in Combs, oh I mean Princess Dee. This is great stuff. Music City is a blast to read. Keep up the great work.
  3. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 1-12-89 Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. We hope you enjoyed our SuperClash recap show last week. What an unbelievable and historic event that was. I want to wish everybody a happy new year and we've got a tremendous show to kick off 1989. In our TV title contender's match tonight, the 2 names drawn were Pat Rose and Randy Rose. That's right, the tag team partners and cousins will wrestle for a shot at the TV title next week. Also tonight, The Bruisers and Tom Brandi will face Dream Machine's stable, the Mean Machine and Gary Young. Also in action will be the newly crowned Mid American Champ Paul Orndorff, AWA Southern champ Larry Cameron and we'll also hear from the AWA world tag team champs The Guerreros. Before we get to the action, my guests at this time are Ray Stevens and his client, the new AWA world champion, Jumbo Tsuruta. Stevens comes out wearing jeans, a studded belt buckle and a brown suit jacket. Jumbo is decked out in a black suit, with the world title on his shoulder. Nelson: Ray Stevens, at SuperClash your client Jumbo Tsuruta defeated Nikita Koloff to become the AWA world champion. However, there was controversy. We all saw Sgt. Slaughter literally electrocute Nikita with a stun gun. Stevens: Hold it right there! I told you and everybody out here that Jumbo would win the world title and he did! And what do you do? Instead of congratulating him, you ruin his moment by talking about some kind of controversy. Nelson: Ok, I do apologize, congratulations are in order. Jumbo Tsuruta is an incredible wrestler and I do congratulate him. I didn't mean to take anything away from him and the tremendous feat he accomplished. Stevens: You're a fast learner Nelson. Don't ever make the mistake again. As for this so called controversy. We have nothing to do with Sgt. Slaughter and his actions. If Nikita is an enemy of Slaughter, that's not our concern. Now, this man right here (points to Jumbo) will be the most dominant world champion in the history of wrestling. We're ready for all challengers and so called contenders. Nobody can stop this human wrecking machine, so get ready for the most historic world title reign ever. The reign of Jumbo Tsuruta has begun. The question is, will the AWA be ready for it. Jumbo lifts his title high. Commercial Break AWA Mid-American Champ 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff vs. Sam Smith Orndorff has the fans up and cheering as he hits the piledriver for the win. The fans cheer louder as Orndorff raises his newly won title up in the air. Nelson: Congratulations on your SuperClash Mid American title victory over Larry Zbyszko. Orndorff: I have to admit, it felt so good piledriving Zbyszko's fat head on this title, that he's hit me three times with. Zbyszko! I told you I was going to get payback and I did! Zbyszko, if you want another shot, be my guest and that goes for any other wrestler in the AWA! Commercial Break 'The Foreman' Spike Huber vs. Todd Rooney Huber makes his return to the AWA. He's in full construction man gimmick as he comes out wearing a construction helmet, flannel shirt and jeans, while also carrying a sledgehammer. He looks crisp in the ring. He hits an airplane spin and follows with a standing fist drop for the win. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, my guest at this time is a true legend in this sport. Please welcome out Bullet Bob Armstrong. The fans cheer as Armstrong walks out in jeans and a collared shirt. Armstrong: Larry, it's great to be here in the AWA. I've had an amazing career and I still have a lot more in the tank. I'm looking to face the best the AWA has to offer. There's a stir from the crowd as Austin Idol struts out. Nelson: Austin Idol, I wasn't expecting you. Idol: Always expect the unexpected from the Universal Heartthrob. I just listened to what old Bobby Boy here was saying and I have to admit it made me chuckle a bit. Look Bobby Boy, you have had a great career but the AWA doesn't need a guy like you around. Let's face it, you're a little past your prime, well, you're a lot passed your prime. The AWA needs somebody cool and fresh, someone with charisma. That defines Austin Idol darling. I'm pumped up and ready to go in the AWA. So, Bobby Boy, why don't you go home and take up a hobby. You know, enjoy the retired life before you get hurt. Armstrong: Hang on Idol. Why don't you find out if I'm past it. If you want, we can step in the ring and we both can both find out if I still have it. Heck, I'm willing. What do you say? Idol: Whoa, whoa, whoa, just relax Bobby. I was just having some fun. I'll take off. It's all good darling. Idol pats Armstrong on the shoulder and leaves. Nelson: Well Bob, it appears Austin Idol was...Watch out! From behind, Idol hits Armstrong over the head with a trashcan! Nelson: Just what the hell are you doing?!?! Idol: I told you I was pumped up darling! Commercial Break Nelson: I can't believe what Austin Idol just did. He better be ready because he just made an enemy in Bob Armstrong. Joining me now is the Vin Man. You returned at SuperClash and I hear you have yourself a new tag team to debut. Vin: Oh Larbo, did you miss me? I sure missed you buddy. I'm back and feeling oh so good, and here's why. Let me introduce you to my brand new tag team. Here is Scott Putski and Derrick Dukes, and they'll be known as, are you ready? Vinergy! That's right. Not energy, not synergy but Vinergy. That name was invented by me. So, get ready for Vinergy...YEA! Vinergy (Scott Putski and Derrick Dukes w/The Vin Man vs. Sal Ruby and Gale Gershwin Vinergy come out wearing bright orange trunks, orange kneepads and even orange wrestling boots. Vinnie is wearing a bright orange Hawaiian style shirt. Vinergy are in sync tonight and show good chemistry. Putski puts Ruby down with the Polish Hammer, then tags in Dukes. Putski hoists Ruby up and holds him in a bearhug position as Dukes nails Ruby with a missile dropkick for the win. Commercial Break Dream Machine, Gary Young and Mike Miller are with Nelson. Dream: Boys, I have a lot to say and I know this is bad timing because Rip Oliver has abruptly left the AWA. I have something earth shattering going on and I'll announce everything soon. All I can say is that after my successful return at SuperClash, I knew the ring is where I belong. Nelson: Just how hard did Ron Lyle hit you? Dream: Shut up Larry! Gary, Mike, I won't leave you hanging and I'll explain everything later on. But right now, you need a partner for tonight and I have found a partner who will team with you. My main man Chicky Starr is back and ready to help. Come on out Chicky. Gary and Mike are trying to process all this. Dream hugs Chicky and quickly exits. Mike and Gary follow Chicky into the ring. 'The Fortunate One' Gary Young, Mean Mike Miller and Chicky Starr vs. The Bruisers and 'Thrilling Tom Brandi We get a fun match. The Bruisers put their strength and power to use as Brandi adds in his high octane offense. It takes Miller, Young and Starr a few minutes to gel, but they eventually start working well together. Miller is relentless with his brutal rule breaking. Young brings in his technical skills and Starr makes sure he shines. All 6 men end up in the ring. During the melee, Starr hits a corkscrew elbow drop on Brandi but Busick grabs Starr and pounds away. Strong and Miller are fighting in the corner. Young picks up Brandi for a bodyslam, but Brandi cradles him 1..2..3!! Big Pop! The babyfaces clean house. The fans cheer as the Bruisers hold up Brandi's arm in victory. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, my guest at this time is (deep breath) Skandor Akbar. Boos as Akbar comes out. He argues with some fans before walking over to Nelson. Nelson: Skandor, you have quite the reputation and I'm sure you have reasons for coming to the AWA. Akbar: Very keen observation Larry Nelson. I'm here in the AWA to cause destruction and devastation! Devastation Inc. is in the AWA. I am putting together the strongest faction known to man. Let me give you a glimpse. The first member of Devastation Inc. is the current AWA southern champion, Lethal Larry Cameron! Now just watch what he does in the ring. AWA Southern Champ 'Lethal' Larry Cameron w/Skandor Akbar vs. Neil Jordan Cameron just destroys his opponent and finishes things off with an over the shoulder back breaker! Akbar raises Cameron's arm as Cameron holds up his title with his other arm. Commercial Break Nelson: I fear for the AWA with Devastation Inc. here. My goodness. Ok, joining me now are the AWA world tag team champs, Hector and Chavo Guerrero. There's some boos as the Guerreros come out smiling. Nelson: You two retained the world tag titles at SuperClash against the Fantastics. However, your tactics were a little questionable. Hector: Wait a minute Larry. Who won the match? Nelson: Well, you did. Chavo: And who are the world champions? Nelson: Again, you are. Hector: Then that's all that matters. Before Nelson can ask another question, the Guerreros are laughing while they walk away. Commercial Break Sgt. Slaughter vs. Jimmy Knowls Massive heat for Slaughter but he stays relentless and wins the match with the Cobra Clutch. Nelson: Sgt. Slaughter, what you did to Nikita Koloff at SuperClash was inexcusable and unforgivable. Nikita will be out of action for quite some time. Slaughter: Listen up you Puke! You and all these maggots out here should be on your hands and knees thanking me. I have rid the AWA of that no good commie. He was doing nothing but making you weak. He made the AWA weak. Now you have a world champion you can be proud of. As for you Nikita Koloff, I told you I was going to eradicate you from wrestling and I did! Mission accomplished. I've checked you off my list and now it's time to eliminate the next victim on my list. This person will find out soon enough what Sgt. Slaughter is capable of. The fans start chanting Nikita Nikita Nikita! Slaughter: Say his name all you want, but he isn't coming back! He's been dismissed! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, as you all know, the AWA travels around the world. I want to wish El Canek good luck on his current tour of Mexico. I'm sure now that he's put an end to all that bounty business, he'll be quite successful. Speaking of that, I hear that Greg Gagne will need to go through another round of physical therapy. Good luck Greg. I also want to say that after Terry Gordy is all healed up from his SuperClash wounds, he'll be touring Japan. What a bloody battle he had with Kerry Von Erich in the cage at SuperClash. Speaking of battles, I want to wish Carlos Colon a speedy recover. Buzz Sawyer literally snapped and broke his neck with the chain at SuperClash. It was one of the most horrifying things I've ever witnessed. Before we... The fans cheer as Superstar Bill Dundee runs out. Nelson: Bill Dundee! This is a surprise! Dundee: Hello Larry, I won't take up much time. I'm just so excited, I couldn't control myself. I had to come out here and say that Superstar Bill Dundee is back in the AWA and that's a fact Jack! WHOOOOOO WEEEEEEE Have Mercy! Commercial Break Nelson: Before we get to our TV title contender's match, my guest now is the current AWA TV Champion, Brian Adias. Adias struts out in a pink tank top and sunglasses, with the title on his shoulder. Nelson: Brian, up next Pat and Randy Rose will wrestle for a shot at your title next week. Before we get to that, I have to ask you about SuperClash. It appeared to me and all the fans, that Raquel Welch forgot your name. I thought you two were good friends. Adias: Larry, you are a real dummy aren't you? That was a comedy act, you fool. You obviously are clueless about acting. Raquel and I had that planned. We're set to do a comedy movie together and we wanted to try out some comedy at SuperClash. Everybody laughed and so it worked. Now, as for the Rose cousins, I don't care who wins, because neither man is a serious challenger for my title. However, the AWA needs ratings and Brian Adias gives them that, so I'll be here next week to give a ratings boost. I'm gone! Nelson: You're not even going to stick around for the match? Adias: I'm a busy man. I've got better things to do. Winner gets an AWA TV Title shot next week Pat Rose vs. Randy Rose The match starts with a handshake and hug. The first few minutes are even as both men trade moves, takedowns and takeovers. Each man has several pin attempts, but both stay alive. Pat gets control and dropkicks Randy down. Randy staggers up as Pat scoop slams him down. Pat swings off the ropes and goes for an elbow drop but Randy moves. Randy suplexes Pat and follows with a delayed knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Randy swings Pat to the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Pat ducks, swings back and hits a flying press but Randy carries the momentum over and hooks Pat 1..2..3! Randy helps Pat up. The two shake hands and Pat raises Randy's arm in victory. The fans cheer the family sportsmanship.
  4. AWA releases Black Bart, Rip Oliver, Gama Singh, Tiger Jeet Singh and Timothy Flowers AWA picks up Bill Dundee, Sweet Brown Sugar, George Takano and Skandar Akbar I would also like to keep Ray Stevens and Vinnie Valentino on as managers
  5. The Royal Rumble is shaping up nicely. Hogan has left a huge void but there's a lot of depth in your roster. I could see more than one person stepping up. The highlight for me was Tommy Rich. It's so surreal seeing him in the WWF, especially with all the history he has in our game. I'm sure you have some fun things planned for him.
  6. AWA Update Strike while the Iron's hot Needless to say, the Hogan/Orndorff conversation has been the hottest topic in the AWA. Behind the scenes, Greg Gagne has been a busy man. He talked with Orndorff about the conversation and asked Orndorff if there was even a slight chance Hogan would consider coming to the AWA. Orndorff told Gagne, Hulk's a business man, and if the right deal's on the table, he would at least consider it. Greg then had dinner with Verne. Greg told his dad this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the AWA. Greg finally convinced Verne to let him call Hulk. Well, that call was made. Reports say Greg and Hogan had a long and friendly conversation. Hogan told Greg about some things that went on up north, while Greg told Hogan about the big plans the AWA had for the upcoming year. Then Greg finally asked "Hulk, what would it take for you to come work for the AWA?" Hogan told Greg his biggest business concern was his merchandise and also the promoting of his upcoming movie No Holds Barred. Greg told Hogan, he's sure that both sides could come to an agreement. Greg then told Hogan that Verne has loosened his grip on things and then asked Hogan if he would be willing to meet with Verne. Hogan responded with "Ok Greg, I would be willing to meet with Verne." Sources say that historic meeting will take place next week at Verne's house. It all boils down to if these two can let the past go, work things out and move on. Verne is all about making money and Hulk Hogan is nothing but money. It seems like a perfect fit...right? Stay tuned
  7. The UWF is on fire right now and has some major plans for 1989. I love these behind the scenes articles. I especially loved reading about the Backlund situation.
  8. Too bad about the loading problems, but I can tell Maple Leaf Wrestling will be a lot of fun. I think Neidhart can be a top guy here. You've got a nice blend of hometown talent, woman and some international stars. A lot of potential here.
  9. Glad you rectified the Perez/Sawyer match. Perez blows the feud off while another Sawyer emerges. Boogie Woogie Man makes sure his return is more memorable than Uncle Ivan's. Slater and Manny will be a fun hard hitting southern type feud. Street showing nice sportsmanship to his fellow countryman. Damn, Ron Fuller gives Baby Doll the ultimate stud. The tag teams get a nice showcase tonight. The fastest way to a title shot is pin the champ in a tag match. Snuka did just that. Worldwide Master Blasters destroy their opponents. Looks like SSM wants some gold. He deserves a shot. SuperBrawl 2 should be a dandy.
  10. This report has sent shockwaves across the AWA Newly crowned AWA Mid-American Champ Paul Orndorff was working out in a gym in Tampa when guess who walked in? None other than the immortal HULK HOGAN! Needless to say, Hogan caused a lot of heads to turn. Sources reported that Hogan and Orndorff had a long work out together. During that work out, Hogan unloaded a lot off his chest to Orndorff about what happened up north. Hogan vented to Orndorff for over an hour. After Orndorff processed all this, he paused and then told Hogan he should really think about giving the AWA a call. Hogan laughed it off. Orndorff explained to Hogan that Verne has really changed and he's got big plans for the AWA. Orndorff told Hogan he could really make a lot of money in the AWA. Once again Hogan laughed at the thought of going back to work for Verne. The conversation got serious when Orndorff stopped his work out, looked Hogan in the eye and said "Would I joke about money?" After a long pause, Hogan and Orndorff went into the sauna to continue their conversation. After word of this got to the AWA, sources say, Verne, Greg and Gerry Morrow had a private meeting. Signing Hogan would be monumental for the AWA and change its entire landscape. In other words, it would be the biggest move in AWA history, maybe even in pro wrestling history. However, we all know the history with Verne and Hogan. A lot of pride there. Verne indeed has changed a lot over the past year. He's looking to take the AWA worldwide and is also trying to work that TV deal with Sports Channel America. One thing he knows for sure is that Hulk Hogan can make all this happen. The name Hulk Hogan can take the AWA to heights never imagined. Wow, Hulk Hogan in the AWA? Could this actually happen?
  11. Austin paying his dues, but one thing about PCW is they give the young guys some shine. Well, Jackal gets the majority vote and it doesn't look like Cactus is too keen on him. Haynes has put together one ruthless stable. Speaking of stables, the Playboy club has found an ace. Rainbow Warriors are quickly becoming contenders. Gunn shows what he can do, but having DDP in Adams corner is the difference. Portland, Damn, the Oregon wrecking crew is going to wreck havoc. Scotty gets focused and even surprises Bret a bit. I hope Bret can keep Austin calm. He looks like he's really down on himself. Big win for the FOJ. Dustin and Regal might have to go at it again. Windham is literally unstoppable. Eugene, Mike's powerbomb is pretty awesome. Blackman is as intense as ever, maybe a little more this time around. The New Generation are going to excite PCW fans all year long. Steamboat and Hennig put on another classic. How can you go wrong booking these guys in a match. Dreamboats find out why the Midnights hold the gold. Even after a night of incredible action, Pillman always delivers in the main event.
  12. This week's AWA TV show is a SuperClash 3 recap. The AWA has given its wrestlers a vacation break but will return next week to kick off 1989.
  13. Well, I never thought it would happen but the era of HulkaMania in the WWF has ended. This is very interesting. On one hand, it's no doubt a huge blow to the WWF. On the other hand, the door is wide open for others, especially Savage and Warrior. The Demolition/Rockers storyline has gotten over big time and what perfect timing. I'm looking forward to the Royal Rumble. I'm sure the WWF has big plans for the winner. If there's one man who can rebound from Hogan leaving, it's Mr. McMahon. I can just see his wheels spinning.
  14. More News from the AWA The AWA was dealt with a major blow, because Kerry Von Erich has left. Kerry gave his notice 2 weeks before SuperClash. Word is he received an offer from another promotion that he simply couldn't refuse. Verne had high hopes for Kerry and hoped he could convince him to stay. The two were talking all the way up until SuperClash. An agreement couldn't be reached. After SuperClash, Verne and Kerry parted with a handshake. This no doubt hurts the AWA, especially with their plans to go worldwide. Kerry Von Erich was going to play a major factor in those plans. No doubt about it Verne is extremely disappointed but isn't panicking. He's going full steam with his global plans and international stars as well as banking on his big names Nikita Koloff, Paul Orndorff and Sgt. Slaughter. Also, the AWA is counting on familiar and recognized names like Bob Armstrong, the Guerreros, Fantastics, Leo Burke, Austin Idol and Dory Funk Jr. to do their part in keeping the old school homegrown fanbase intact. Another reason the departure of Kerry stings is because the AWA is currently trying to close an exclusive TV deal with Sports Channel America, which is in affiliation with Cablevision. SCA recently secured an exclusive deal with the NHL and wants Pro Wrestling to be a part of their programing. Cable companies want star power and Kerry Von Erich was exactly the kind of name they wanted to advertise. This could be a deal breaker. The AWA had a tremendous 1988 and knows that in order to play with the big boys, they need to keep moving forward. Can they do it? Stay tuned.
  15. I agree with AD. Great job in setting things up for the new year. I loved all the behind the scenes news and happenings. With a long list of strong babyfaces, Flair will draw a lot of money working with these guys. I also think the tag team division is strong enough to draw big houses. Tully and Arn vs. RnR Express is a main event anywhere. Your roster is stacked and Jarrett has a lot to work with here. The Mayhem battle royal is going prove how loaded WCW is. Props to you for making WCW a powerhouse player in our world.
  16. Vancouver, This mask man is starting to irk Cactus. Spicoli keeps bringing the fight but tonight belonged to Ace. Lynn is quickly becoming a LHW contender. I think Regal will be just fine on his own. Steamboat vs. Chono is worth the price of admission. It took some doing but Windham retains over a game Adams. Big Weekend for the champ. Kelowna, LOL, who is this masked man? Perfect and Adams pick up wins. These two are at the top of their games. 89 could be Lee's breakout year. My guys the Patriots are always in the hunt but seem to get screwed in title bouts. Pillman shines again in the main event. PCW will be on fire in 89!
  17. Nothing like kicking off the new year with a high stakes battle royal. The Patriots issued the challenge and then we get a big surprise with Baby Doll and Badd Co. I see gold coming their way. And right off the bat, we know the Master Blasters are some intimidating dudes. JJ promised the Nature Boy and he delivers. Welcome back Budro! The tag team scene is going to be competitive in 89. The Bees/Eliminators match proves that. I always loved the music videos hyping a wrestler. I'm pumped for Boogie Woogie Man. Nobody gets up from a loaded headbutt. Orton gets a rematch with Garvin and we've got our first big feud of the year with Slater and Manny. The NWA's year is off to an exciting start!
  18. PCW's tag division just got a shot of more adrenaline with the Dreamboats. After tearing the house down, it looks like Candido wants to band together some LHWS. Mike's debut was awesome! AHHHHHH ok, the Oregon name makes total sense now. Billy Jack and his men are going to wreck havoc in PCW. Well, if Bret says this Austin kid has potential, good enough for me. Oh man, things are going to get eerie and weird in PCW. The new Footloose gets the big win but watch out for this little leprechaun. I said PCW was going to get weird and I have to admit I like the craziness the Juice Crew brings. Billy Gunn arrives and has already made some powerful friends. And you need friends here. Tenryu puts down Payne but now has a returning Blackman to worry about. Destruction Crew walks away with the titles but Stormfont is on their tails. I have a feeling Austin will be in the thick of things sooner than Bret thinks. Widowmaker starts the year just how he left the last one. You're right, the big question in 1989 is who can end his reign. Austin looks smooth in his debut. Blackman is a machine. The title holders better be on high alert because the Oregon Wrecking Crew is for real. I'm sure Scotty is quite the ladies man, but his flirting costs the Playboy Club. Leprechaun shows what he can do. Candido and crew set some high goals for 89. One thing's for sure, this is one exciting group. Billy Jack is a madman! I'm seeing a big 89 for Bret.
  19. AWA releases Brady Boone, George Takano, Steve Simpson, Dave Haskins, Johnny Rich and Norvell Austin AWA picks up Dory Funk Jr., Chicky Starr, Missing Link, Johnny Smith and Spike Huber
  20. AWA NEWS It seems that Verne Gagne is looking to take the AWA all around the world. The AWA has some pretty lofty goals for 1989 and Verne has acquired the best International talent to help him achieve those goals. Tony St. Clair can open doors in the UK. Carlos Colon is a very powerful man in Puerto Rico. El Canek has a lot of influence in Mexico. Gerry Morrow has ties in Canada. And of course, Jumbo Tsuruta can work some major deals in Japan. Verne has put together all the pieces and is ready to take the AWA to new heights.
  21. WOW! I can't believe it! The Renestos won the tag titles! YES! 1989 is going to be a great year!
  22. AWA puts Larry Zbyszko, Tatsumi Fujinami, Black Bart, Dave Taylor, and the Fantastics on the block.
  23. After reading the dirt sheets. I couldn't wait for this anticipated SNME. Ok, Hogan appears and HulkaMania still seems to be running wild in the WWF. Props to Savage as he somehow manages to walk out with his title. Great finish as Rude pulls one over on Jake. This is a big moment for Rude. Bad News gets some good heat but not for long as Warrior pumps up. And here we go. Well, with not much time to edit, the WWF did the best they could. Muta gets great heat and it looks like we're going to see an incredible Muta/Martel IC title match in the future. If you're setting up Demolition vs. The Rockers, then putting the Rockers over big time tonight was the way to go. So much intrigue going on in the WWF. I'll be reading more from the dirt sheets.
  24. WrestleCade! Here we go! A heated 6 man tag is always a great way to kick off a big event. I could really see Atlas, Reed and Simmons be a babyface force to be reckoned with in 89. I was looking forward to the Morton/Gilbert match. These two are so evenly matched and can give the fans a roller coaster ride. The end leaves more on the table. I'm hoping for a rematch. I have to admit, I loved the Latin Connection. Although their title reign was short, it was memorable. Time to walk down Bad Street. Hahahahahaha, what an in ring debut for Piper. Stays true to his character. I'm wondering how Muraco will respond. This was fun. The world tag title match more than delivered. I'm curious on what is next for Dibiase and Williams. Somethings up with Williams and that injury. Luger was on fire tonight and came out a made man. The bullrope match was chaotic and crazy, the way it was meant to be. I agree with your logic. I've wrote last matches for wrestlers and due to loyalty I wanted them to go out on high notes as well. The Murdoch turn allows Dusty to save face and keeps Funk's heat. Plus, you're right, this gives Murdoch a fresh coat of paint. Him and Funk are going to bring more craziness to WCW. Main event time and of course Flair makes Sting look like a million bucks. The Horsemen are reunited and ready to rock 89. This all works because Sting and Luger are now superstars and WCW will make big money in 89 with them going at it with the Horsemen. You also have the Reed, Atlas and Simmons group that can be a fun filler vs. The Horsemen. I'm also interested in who the 4th horsemen will be. You set the stage well for the next year. Jarrett coming in to replace Herd is something I'm sure a lot of people would've loved IRL. Jarrett definitely has all the pieces in place to work with.
  25. AWA Presents From the McNichols Arena, Denver Co Live on Pay Per View INTERMISSION Larry Nelson: Fans, welcome back to SuperClash 3. I'm just as shocked as you are at the brutality we just witnessed between Terry Gordy and Kerry Von Erich. I'm sure neither man will ever be the same again. Ok, well, we have a lot more action coming your way, so let's get back to the ring. 'Diamond' Timothy Flowers vs. Leo Burke An unfortunate injury kept Dave Taylor from action tonight. However, word got to the AWA that Leo Burke was available and here we are. Flowers is wearing a diamond studded robe as he arrogantly walks to the ring. He stops to admire a chair before entering the ring. Leo Burke is coming off an incredible run in PCW and these fans know him and his reputation well, so he gets a pretty good pop. The bell rings and Flowers offers a handshake. Before Leo can lift his hand, Flowers kicks him and rakes Burke's eyes. Flowers swings Burke into the turnbuckles and follows with a running back elbow smash. Flowers then goes on an onslaught with kicks, punches, chokes and stomps. Flowers slams Burke down, goes to the middle ropes and crashes down with a stomp to the chest 1..2..Kick Out. Flowers grabs Burke's face and starts to stretch it out. Flowers hurls Burke out of the ring. Flowers argues with the Ref and then starts yelling at the fans. Flowers goes out to the apron. Burke starts to rise. Flowers goes for a double axehandle, but Burke hits him in the stomach. Burke hurls Flowers back in the ring. Flowers staggers up as Burke blasts him with a forearm smash. Burke clamps on a headlock and pounds away on Flowers head with several punches. Burke swings Flowers to the ropes and nails him with a flying high knee. Burke hoists Flowers up and vertical suplexes him back. Burke follows with a delayed knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Burke swings Flowers into the corner and follows with several forearm uppercuts. Burke swings Flowers to the opposite corner and charges in but Flowers lifts his knees as Burke crashes into them. Flowers regroups and is frustrated. Flowers rolls to the outside and grabs a chair. He brings the chair into the ring. The Ref is yelling and warning him. Flowers tells the Ref to shut up. Burke rises as Flowers is set to hit him. Burke kicks Flowers and forearm blasts the chair into Flowers face! Burke grabs Flowers and hits a jawbreaker 1..2..3! The fans cheer as Burke celebrates his AWA debut with them. Winner of the Match- Leo Burke Mr. Olympia and 'The Fabulous One' Steve Keirn vs. 'The Fortunate One' Gary Young and Dream Machine Special Ring Enforcer- Ron Lyle Former heavyweight boxing contender and Denver's own, Ron Lyle gets a big pop as the announcer rattles off his impressive boxing resume. Ron smiles and waves to the fans as he takes his spot outside the ring. Boos as Dream Machine and Gary Young head towards the ring.
