  1. Yeah Vader is someone to look forward to whenever you see his name pop up 1991. This is a great year for him no doubt. These guys have really good chemistry. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
  2. Finally got to check this one out today. It wasn't online when I went through the top 500. I'd put it in the good to really good category. There were some cool spots, but there were also times it was hard to hold my attention. I'm sure a lot of that played into the filming of it.
  3. I love the comparison of Hogan/Popcorn to Oscar winner, because I actually had that same exact thought. Total classic. I absolutely love this feud, and I LOVE finish of the match when Tito kicks the door in on the face of Valentine. It was timed so perfectly.
  4. This is such a cool matchup. I have to agree that it's mostly the Murdoch show. His selling of the left leg was awesome. At one point, after a kick at the back of the knee from one of the bros, it almost looks broken the way Murdoch angles and rests his leg. I will say the Brisco's were throwing some sweet punches though. I think I'm just a little higher on it than Sleeze, but either way, the point is this is a great match.
  5. I don't know, I think this was a little better than that. Some of the selling from Backlund and Adonis alike was soooo good. That bloody war punching towards the end of the match really sucked me in. I think it's closer to ****1/2 for me. I don't think Backlund was dominated too much, he just put forth that Rocky effort. Also, he lost due to loss of blood. That's a pretty good way to sell the dominance that Adonis did have, and like Sleeze said, build to the next match.
  6. Man, the crowd is rabid for this! Backlund even makes a bear hug exciting. The way he builds his comebacks out of submissions using his facial expressions and timing is just incredible. He really takes time to sell in a way that makes logical sense, and in turn that really creates great anticipation. Totally agree - ****3/4.
  7. I'm with Childs on this one. I thought the action was great, and especially Jumbo's intensity. I guess the booking doesn't bother me too much. The crowd was on fire and they delivered a really good match here. I too feel like Jumbo has had an incredible 1991.
  8. Oh man, how to work a WWF style cage match 101. There are so many things I love about this match. Backlund's punches, Slaughter's selling, and the just how violent and real this felt. The crowd was on the edge of their seat the entire time. Backlund hit an awesome piledriver. That was such a cool camera shot of the close up of Slaughter's hand slipping from the door. Towards the end when Backlund knocks Slaughter off the top, I love how he fell with his leg caught in the turnbuckle/ropes. Every moment of this was pure excitement, and it was so real. In my world it's classic. I'd say around ****3/4 for me if I had to put a rating on it. Oh yeah, and I also loved Slaughter punching the cage and the way he sold that. I must have missed the clipping? I might have to watch it again... I doubt I saw a different version than Sleeze.
  9. Another example of why Slaughter is so great. He's just tremendous with his selling and bumping here. Backlund shows off his strength with his offense. Great match between these two. Love it.
  10. This was pretty awesome. I love how brutal it starts and the story of Vader's left arm that is in play. They really pound on each other throughout, and I thought it told a good story too. I wouldn't put it up there with the Sting series (or even close to it really), but I do think this ended up being a great match. I thought Hash sold Vader's leg submission work pretty well too.
  11. To be fair, the YouTube video I started last night disappeared this morning. So, I didn't have to watch that horrible time limit draw. I just searched for the tag main event this morning and watched that ha. I figured that match wouldn't be very good, and after I listened to your podcast I decided to skip that one all together I missed that match and the Spivey match. But, I watched the rest in it's entirety. Sounds like I didn't miss much with those ha.
  12. This turned out to be a really fun show. I actually liked the Poffo match better than the Hart match, he's a pretty underrated puncher! Afi had the match of his career, so that was really entertaining and unexpected. I think it was probably even better than a *1/2 (not by much, but still that was cool). That is the first time I've seen that Roberts/Steamboat stuff from that show, and I'm kind of surprised it's talked about more. I thought it was really great. It was definitely my favorite part of the show, and I always thought there had to be match like this out there stemming from the DDT. Per usual, Savage and Tito were great. All around, I had a ton of fun watching this from top to bottom.
  13. Yeah, the Ogawa giving Kawada a taste of his own medicine using/imitating the Kawada kicks to the head was pretty awesome. The crowd really got into that moment, then as Loss mentioned Kawada lost his cool. It may have been short and clipped, but I was still really entertained by this. I actually enjoyed it more than the NJPW tag that preceded it on the set (but had had better reviews). To be fair, that one was show in it's entirety. Per usual, I thought Jumbo had a great presence and was delivering some pretty impactful blows here.

    PTBN GWWE

I initially thought about the same thing with Arn Anderson, but yeah it's not supposed to play a factor.
  15. Oh man, that's disappointing if that's true. As probably everyone here knows, the blu-rays usually have some pretty sweet extras.
  16. I wonder if PWInsider is looking specifically at the DVD? Or, did they say the know the blu-ray has no extras as well?
  17. These guys are just on another level. No offense to Spivey, because he carried his weight, but I'm specifically talking about the other three. However, Hansen is my MVP here. He brings such an intensity every single time he wrestles (from his entrance to his exit). His selling his was fantastic, and his focused limb work was really good. I know when we ranked our GWE that I had him in my top 5 or 6, and what I wouldn't give to have my votes back and put him in my top 3. I've watched so much Hansen over the past few years, and not that I hadn't watched a lot then, but my appreciation for him at this point in my fandom is so high. I legitimately get excited to watch any match he is part of at this point, even if I've seen it five times. Anyways, I thought Kawada and Misawa were great here too. I love the selling of the knees after the double-suplex. I loved this match.
  18. I watched this again tonight while journeying through 1991, and I still couldn't help but laugh at this thing. The entrances and the moment when Hayes accidentally runs into Garvin on the outside, and Garvin proclaims "I got it all off of me!" And, then there are all the moments on the outside of the ring where the Freebirds keep looking at each other and strategizing out loud "SLOW it down, SLOW it down." This is pretty amusing to me.
  19. I've seen this match three times in the past few years, and it really clicked with me last night. I always thought it was good, but as others have mentioned it feels a little rushed at times. It seems rushed to me because of the few mistakes/botches (and some of their timing issues). Flair seemed to be a little bit off at times, but Eaton really pulls you in with his stiff right hands and hard-hitting offense. It's still pretty close to being called a great match. Based on the circumstances, they delivered.
  20. Well, this was awesome. I had a blast watching this, and I agree Bam Bam was great in this. The only thing I didn't like was how quickly Williams recovered from the top rope splash. It didn't bother me he kicked out, but he pretty much bounced right up from it (instead of them letting the kick out sink in for a minute, selling it, and letting the crowd soak in what he had just accomplished). But, don't get me wrong, I thought this was super fun. As far as favorite Bam Bam match/performance, for those interested (or those that have not seen it), my personal favorite is vs. Jerry Lawler 09/07/1986. It's worth seeking out for sure. Oh yeah, & I loved hearing Bruno on commentary.
  21. Great companion to the collection fellas, I really enjoyed it. Would love to hear you guys chat on the Savage collection someday...
  22. I agree with garretta. I do think had this match happened in Tokyo, or just in the US in front of a hot crowd, this would be remembered in higher regard. There were some missed spots, but for the most part this really delivered. I liked the spot with Flair after he bladed, he was in the corner and pushing Fujinami out of the corner a few times, like "come on punk." Then, he delivers the chop to his back. I loved it. I thought this was pretty great and like Microstatistics said, they both worked really hard to attempt to overcome the crowd. They could have just said screw it. It's a great match all-in-all.
  23. Yep, good match. I thought Bobby's punches looked great as always, and I thought he did a really good job selling for Arn throughout. Arn had a nice focused attack. Great moment for Bobby.
  24. My favorite Suzuki match (that I've seen) is still the one against AJ Styles from 08/01/2014. It's a classic. I actually like that match more than any of the recent big matches from NJ like Okada/Omega or Okada/Shibata.
