  1. Matt Borne's ECW run hasn't been mentioned.
  2. Who remembers when they put the title on CM PUNK in Chicago the night of the Breaking Bad Season Finale and the NBA Playoffs? Biggest match in recent history with Punk against Cena in Chicago and Punk's future up in the air. Or the fact that for 25 years their flagship show runs against Monday night football for 4 months of the year? They regularly do this sort of thing. It is as if they are oblivious to the fact that there are other forms of entertainment. Twice they've had Wrestlemania on the same night as the GOT season debut. Also Wrestlemania always seems to fall on the same weekend as the Final 4. Tell me which event gets more coverage that weekend?
  3. I haven't watched a lot since GWE wrapped up. I've tried, but I keep finding myself getting a few minutes into a match and tuning outt. I probably hadn't seen this match in maybe 5 years, and probably hadn't seen the whole feud since it happened in 2003. What a great match, had everything you would want from a mid card feud. Hate, a minor title being elevated and established, young fiery babyfaces standing up to a grizzled old invading heel. 2 weeks ago I thought I may be done watching wrestling, when I was out, this pulled me back in. It goes into NOAH style over kill, especially for a midcard match. Also Marafuji and Kenta's selling is uneven. But whatever. Its about two young fiery white meat babyfaces getting the shit beat out of them by the invading veterans and coming back. Old man heel Liger is the best Liger. Its athletic while still resembling a wrestling match. I wanted to watch this to see if I still enjoyed it as much as I did 5 years ago and 13 years ago, and I do. I wouldn't describe this match as flippy so much at athletic. Honestly I really enjoy early 2000s KENTA and early 2000s Marafuji. They both had a lot of fire, and I enjoyed them in their midcard junior roles.
  4. I get what you are saying. I often look at WWE and wonder whether or not they possess a calendar. They regularly schedule shows on the same day, at the same time as events that are much more popular and will thus over shadow whatever happens on WWE.
  5. http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/16398531/wwe-star-roman-reigns-suspended-30-days-violating-company-wellness-policy Well this explains the title change...
  6. So there are like 5 guys out of those 32 I enjoy.

    Lesnar to return to UFC

I would not be surprised if this went the way of CroCop Nagata honestly. Lesnar is 38 years old. He's very chinny. Did he re-sign with WWE because he was having a hard time making it through a complete training camp.
  8. I went to a bunch of those indie super shows in the mid 2000s and had a blast. Like I said being drunk on your feet for 5 hours is definately something thats fun at 20... not so much now at 31, I think thats why I can't go to long indie shows any more is because by intermission I'm ready to head home.

    Lesnar to return to UFC

They have to put him against a contender with years of PPV name recognition, but a contender who is a wrestler/ grappler/ catch/ juijitsu guy that is also in his mid to late 30s. So Mir, Nelson, or Barnett?
  10. It depends really on the quality of the show. I've been to 4 hour indie shows (those mid 2000s ROH cards got really longg) where we were on our feet the whole time and going crazy at the end. I also think in your early 20s you have a higher tolerance for being drunk on your feet for several hours. And I've been to 2 hour TV tapings where I was dying by the main event. Same thing with watching at home. There have been really long PPVs that feel like they flew by and really short ones that felt like the went on for ever. This years Wrestlemania was way too long that is without a doubt. One thing I know RAW every week is way too long. Most of my favorite wrestling shows are/were an hour long and had that feel of an hour long serialized TV program to them. Every week ends with a cliff hanger to bring you in the next week. ECW did this, World Class, Mid South (sorta), Lucha Underground, AJPW 30, NOAH di Colleso, etc. Its hard to do that with a 3 hour show.
  11. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Billy Robinson. He had that 3 or 4 year stretch in AJPW that was epic. He was probably the second best guy in AJPW in the 70s. With that said- 1- Misawa - the standard bearer for the 2nd generation 2- Hansen- the standard bearer for badass ganjins 3- Terry Funk- probably the best guy during the 70s. Plus all the stuff in the early 80s. 4- Kawada 5- Kobashi 6- Tenryu 7- Jumbo 8- Akiyama- best wrestler of the 3rd generation 9- Taue 10- Baba
  12. Osprey is over 6'. I see him being very good some day. Also I don't like the comparisons to TM vs DK. Those matches had heat, lots of heat. Kid went after TM with a broken bottle once! Another match was restarted multiple times. It wasn't just the athletic spots, there was legit, fan-stab-a-heel, white-heat to several of those matches.
  13. Personally Osprey and a bunch of these young indie guys remind me of a young AJ Styles, like before Styles learned how to work (ie WCW Thunder, NWA Wildside, early ROH, AJ Styles). He's always the most athletic guy on the card, does lots of cool athletic stuff, but has no idea of what he's doing. I see Osprey being really good as he reaches his late 20s early 30s. I think Osprey is just an example of a young guy who is always trying to get his shit in. That I think is the main problem, is that so many of these athletic indie guys are so young, so poorly trained, and inexperienced they don't understand the difference between getting heat and getting their moves in. The exceptions seem to be the guys who don't have springs for legs. Its like the South Park episode where Michael Bay is unable to articulate the difference between plot and special effects.
  14. Two of my uncles taking me to a WWF house show. I was probably 4 or 5. Main Event was Hogan vs Bossman. So it was probably in 89ish.
  15. I think ROH was at its best when it was the most realistic style in North America. That was what the company was founded on. Low Ki, Dragon, Joe, all the British and Japanese guys working a very believable snug style. Thats not them anymore, if anything the ROH style is probably one of the more cartoonish in ring styles/presentations out there right now. If anything its a less believable style than WWE's in ring style.
  16. I loved early wannabe BattlArts ROH, I loved Gabe era ROH, i appriciated Cornette era ROH, I can't think of anything in the past 4 or 5 years I enjoyed. Can you recommend something?
  17. I feel like ROH is at that point ECW was at in the last 4 to 6 monthes- completely unwatchable to anybody but the diehard fans. However ROH has been that way for like 4 years now.
  18. Also I see guys like Gino Hernandez or Jose Lothario who are missed the cut because of lack of footage not because they aren't awesome making the cut in 2026
  19. Rush, Riddle, Dragon Lee, Okada, Kamaitachi, Thatcher, Reigns, and Tomoyuki Oka are the guys I'm predicting crack the top 100. Yeah thats right I threw out a guy still in the NJPW dojo.
  20. Which Hardcore TV episode did the who cigarette in the eye angle take place?
  21. First one to come to mind is the episode of Mid South with the Dibiase Murdoch Flair angle. Recently, Ultimate Lucha for Lucha Underground was really awesome. There has to be some specific episode AJPW TV, NOAH Colleseo, World Class, early Toryumon, ECW Hardcore TV, Mid South, Continental, etc, but I just cant think of any off the top of my head. Those were all shows I binge watched Breaking Bad/Wire style at some point.
  22. Both... I've heard him talk about wrestling before, but his take on the Great Antonio shoot is beyond hilarious.

  25. I would guess they haven't watched a lot of Japan or haven't followed Japan very closely or for a long time. And thus are basing their vote on post split stuff.
