[2010-07-04-Ambition I] Bryan Danielson vs Tommy End
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in July 2010
The great thing about Bryan Danielson being your favorite wrestler is that you never run out of great matches! I have seen this one before, but that was like 5 years ago, and now that I just watched it, I was blown away. Just a fantastic 7-minute shoot style showcase with nice leg psychology. This has to be up there with Ospreay/Riddle & Hashimoto/Zangiev as one of my all-time favorite sub-10 minute matches. ****1/2 -
The atmosphere was amazing, the drama was epic. Loved Villano in this - his work on top was excellent, he brutalized Atlantis in such a brilliant fashion, and Atlantis' selling of that was really good, too. This is heavily pimped as the best lucha match of the 2000's, and it sure was a classic. ****1/2

Loved this. Great shine by Harper, great FIP segment w/ Cena & the whole finishing stretch with the Bray/Harper/Orton story was awesome. ***1/2

At first this was kinda confusing, but then I totally got IT, and the match got super awesome as the result. Negro Casas was really great the time he was involved, and once he got out of the match, El Dandy & El Hijo del Santo delivered one helluva brutal, bloody war. A lucha classic without a doubt. ****3/4

This is one of those lucha classics that live up to all the hype. Cota dominates majority of the match, and he does an incredible job at that, truly loved watching him work on top, and Negro was brilliant working from underneath, selling his ass off. Amazing match. ****3/4

So ends the greatest run of Chris Hero's terrific career - only fitting that his final indy match was against the greatest opponent of his late 2013 - early 2017 run in Zack Sabre Jr. Loved the opening with ZSJ showing good fire & going right to work on Hero - that lead to Hero beating the crap out of him, and that's something I always enjoy watching. Hero beating up people = awesome. He was great as always here in doing that & ZSJ was tremendous at sneaking in his hope spots & comebacks. A classic farewell match to one of the all-time greats in independent wrestling. ****1/2

This was a very well worked match. Lots of people have turned on Thatcher & his reign, and this match got lots of negative reviews, but I enjoyed it very much. I still love Thatcher's in ring style, he is damn good on the mat, which was showcased here, and it's always a blast to see him target someone's arm, which also was on display here. ***1/2

This was a No Holds Barred match, and it was absolutely wild. Chuckie T has always been really good in these, remember really loving the one he had vs. El Generico in 2009, and this one was great. To start it off, Matt Riddle beat the crap out of him, and to get the advantage, DUSTIN had to get chair involved, and from then on, they just went balls to the walls with the no DQ gimmick and worked a hellacious sprint. ****

This was a hoot. A total brawl, very heated from straight to finish w/ nothing dull or boring about it. ZSJ is so good. ***1/2

[2017-01-29-WWE-Royal Rumble] Nia Jax vs Sasha Banks

I thought that this was good. Could've been even better had it gone a bit longer, let's say 5 minutes. ***- 1 reply

Well, I thought that this was pretty great. Some fun moments such as Jack Gallagher coming in & going out w/ his umbrella, Braun destroying people, Tye Dillinger actually coming out at #10, Ellsworth was used in a solid way, Cesaro swinging everyone, Harper coming in & wrecking his stablemates, Brock destroying Enzo, Reigns with the fantastic "this is my yard now" line. I understand being disappointed with this if you were expecting big surprises like Kurt Angle or Samoa Joe, but I thought this was a pretty damn well structured Rumble. Definitely way better than the 2016, 2015 & 2014 ones, so that automatically makes it the best one since 2013, at least. ***1/2

[2017-01-29-WWE-Royal Rumble] A.J. Styles vs John Cena
ShittyLittleBoots replied to cactus's topic in January 2017
I seriously hated the first two matches AJ & Cena had against each other, but here in their 3rd match they delivered the classic that I knew they had in them. They built into the crazy finishing stretch w/ the big moves so well - the meat of the match was tremendous this time around & it truly felt like they "earned" the big finishing stretch with that. And they didn't go into overkill with those big moves like they did at SummerSlam. Really just an excellent match all around. ****1/2 -
Awesome match! Both Charlotte & Bayley were absolutely on point here - Charlotte working the heat on Bayley was wonderful, loved the trash talk, and her work on top was overall very good. Bayley's selling was good. She is such an awesome babyface wrestler. That Macho Elbow was very nice. All in all, this was some very solid rasslin! ***1/2

Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness, 02/23/08.

Figured this deserved it's thread, because it has got some MOTYC talk by quite a few people already. The entrances were awesome, Roode going all '89 Flair was glorious. The actual match though... Not so glorious. The first 10 minutes or so were meh, and once it transitioned into Roode working on top, it became straight up boring. Nakamura's comeback w/ his usual signature moves wasn't interesting, but I did like the moment where he was signaling for Kinshasa & Roode wouldn't get up. That was good. Then some more Roode work on top. Ughhh. And once again, Nakamura's hope spots & comeback weren't any interesting. I did like Shinsuke not being able to pin Roode after he had delivered Kinshasa, that was real good. The finish was pretty damn good with Nakamura trying everything he can to survive - that Triangle before getting destroyed was good. Overall though? Easily the worst match of the night & the worst of Nakamura's major matches in NXT so far, in my eyes. *1/2

This was great. The Authors of Pain looked like absolute monsters, they were really great in this one. DIY were fantastic too, it's really funny how Ciampa & Gargano went from shitty PWG performers to one of the absolutely best tag teams in the whole world - they were really great as the babyfaces working from underneath, loved their hope spots & comebacks. Fantastic stuff. ****

This was the best looking match on the card & it was very good. Both guys looked the best they have since joining NXT - Almas was very solid working the heat on Roddy, Roddy's selling was pretty great, I have always loved his selling, he brings true sense of exhaustion every time he is the one selling, I just love it. And every time he was on the offense, it was just a joy to watch. He delivers some of the best looking offense in wrestling today. Very nice match. ***1/2

When did Lashley become such a good wrestler? He was absolutely great here - super awesome arrogant monster heel performance by him. Eddie was really good as the scrappy underdog too, but much like in the match vs. Davey Richards, Lashley was the star. ****
-
Goddamn, what a super fun, great match! They packed lots of action into the 14 minutes they went here: you got Lashley as the arrogant, cocky, monster heel & Davey as the fired up babyface who was all about busting out all the big bombs in his arsenal in order to stop the big bad Lashley. Lashley dominated most of it as expected, while Davey got to get his big shit in, some crazy looking suicide dives & that stupid superplex into a suplex (only negative thing about the match) + he also did some brief work over Lashley's leg - which Lashley sold like an absolute champ. What an awesome match. **** Definitely wouldn't have expected this from Davey Richards vs. Bobby Lashley. 2017 is pretty wild already.

Two big boys going at it. Hero is the best wrestler in the world, he had an insanely good 2016, so I was really looking forward to this - and it did disappoint. My first time seeing Keith Lee in singles action, and he looked good here. His offense looked damn good, loved those chops. The ropes breaking did not derail the match at all really, which was pretty awesome considering that it could've ruined the entire match - but Hero & Lee were out there to put on a banger, and they sure did. Very enjoyable. ***3/4

I sure did not expect this to deliver this much - my goodness, what a match! Zack is pissed off and he is in the house to kick some ass. His early shine was SO good, his offense looked fantastic. Once Page got the control, I expected the match to die a bit, but it didn't! All Ego looked damn good working the heat on the son of Zack Sabre - but every time he was close to getting Zack fully down, ZSJ busted out some awesome submissions - he does those transitions better than anyone in wrestling today. This was so much fun! ****

[2017-01-21-RevPro-High Stakes] Katsuyori Shibata vs Matt Riddle
ShittyLittleBoots replied to JKWebb's topic in January 2017
This was everything I wanted it to be & more. A legit dream match w/ two of my favorites going at it. It did not disappoint me one bit - the beginning stuff with them going to the mat was superb, it was so great. Absolutely loved it. Shibata's control segment was terrific; his work over Riddle was fantastic & Riddle's eventual fiery comeback was awesome. The finishing stretch saw them trade big bombs in a super enjoyable fashion, and the final finishing sequence was just great. Beautiful match; put together pretty much perfectly - the mat work ruled, the control segments were tremendous, the bombs were awesome & the macho no-sell moments were placed very well. ****3/4 -
[1992-06-05-AJPW-Super Power Series] Stan Hansen vs Toshiaki Kawada
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in June 1992
I thought that this was excellent. Hansen looked like a total killer (as always), Kawada's selling was real good & he was a really good underdog in this, in general. ****1/2- 16 replies
