This is a match where I have never understood where the hype comes from. The beginning was good with Davey working on top, and I feel like if they had went with that for rest of the match, it could've been good - the story of the hated champ in Tyler Black having to man up against the loved challenger in Davey Richards - BUT it really was just your typical indy 50-50 bombfest w/ both guys hitting each other with their signature big moves for 20+ mins. No idea how this gets talked up as a classic. *

[2017-02-11-FIP-Ascension] Fred Yehi vs Brian Cage
ShittyLittleBoots posted a topic in February 2017
Fuck yeah this RULED. Yehi started it with super fire, but that didn't last long as the match transitioned into Cage just throwing Yehi around. You could see the desperation in Yehi from his great facial expressions - he tried to target Cage's limbs in his brief hope spots, but those never lasted long as Cage always got the advantage because of his size & strength advantage. This is the best Cage has ever looked - he looked like a true monster because he didn't do too much stuff & just threw Yehi around. It was wonderful. The ending was great, because it showed that Yehi had to use FIP's unique no-rope-breaks rule in order to beat the monster that is the man they call Cage. Made both guys look super awesome. This was very good pro rasslin', people. ****3/4 -
WAY better than their recent ROH matches - the best ROH World Championship in quite a while in general. They worked it smartly; Cole going after Kyle's shoulder, and that hurt shoulder being the story of the match. Pretty good match, definitely way better than I expected it to be given their recent ROH matches against each other. **3/4

[2009-09-06-Dragon Gate USA] Davey Richards vs Shingo
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in September 2009
Shingo does some work over Davey's leg, Davey does some work over Shingo's arm, neither sells. Other than that, it's a painfully generic, dull & soulless bombfest w/ around 2000 nearfalls. Pretty overkill if you ask me. I can appreciate Davey getting the win w/ the Kimura though, as that makes the arm targeting he did somewhat matter, but overall this was a complete bore. In some ways, it was like a shitty epic mode!! version of Danielson/Doi from the same show. A big BLEH. *- 2 replies

After a really good shine by Jerry, this transitioned into him working from underneath while Nigel did some awesome work on top. Every time Jerry got some offense in, it was him doing damage to Nigel's injured arm, which was a great strategy. When it comes to legendary ROH World Title reign endings, this is not on the level of Danielson's match vs. Homicide or Joe's match vs. Aries, but it's still a great match & worthy of ending the all-time great reign of Nigel McGuinness. ****

[2009-04-03-ROH-Supercard of Honor IV] KENTA vs Davey Richards
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in April 2009
This was a very solid battle. For the most part, a movez exhibition, but a really fun one - the strike exchanges between the 2 were awesome, and some of the counters were great. ***1/2 -
[2012-03-31-ROH-Showdown in the Sun] Davey Richards vs Michael Elgin
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in March 2012
First time watching this since 2013 (I think?), and it's still so bad. One of my least favorite matches of all-time. It felt like it was 2 guys who had watched some 90's All Japan & now think that they both are Kenta Kobashi. Holy hell the fighting spirit spots were cringeworthy & the Kawada Kick trading spot is one of my least favorite spots ever in any match ever. I just hate this match, to put it simply. DUD -
Roddy's selling was pretty solid, and that was the highlight of this very forgettable match. Watching Davey on the offense for so long was very boring. I get what they were going for w/ the whole Davey's road to the ROH Title storyline, but this came off as a very stereotypical ROH 2010's main event. *

Physical, super action packed. I have not seen much of David Starr, but he was really solid here. His offense looked pretty good, but the real star of the match was (unsurprisingly) Matt f'n Riddle. What a stud that man is in the ring. It's always so much fun to watch him on the offense, and that was the case here too. Great match. ****

What is 2017??? So much crazy shit happening in the world of the graps, such as Kurt Angle having a great match! I didn't have any expectations coming into this, I am not a fan of Angle, and Alberto can be a hit-or-miss, but here the man was a clear hit. He was so awesome, the match was mostly centered around him working over Angle in very heelish fashion, and it was very enjoyable. Angle basically worked it from underneath, busting out his greatest hits, so his performance was enjoyable as well - definitely very different from your usual Kurt Angle big match, which is a BIG positive. Thumbs up big time for this one. ****

I was a big fan of their PPV match, and the re-match was even better. Very simple, super effective & well executed storytelling in Mickie looking to be in trouble for majority of the match until the finish. Super fun, great match. **** What a great week for WWE TV matches - Charlotte/Bayley, this + Bray/Cena/Styles triple threat.

This is one of the best all-action spotfest style triple threat matches I've ever seen. Just incredible action from start to finish. ****1/2

This actually reminded me of the Bayley/Sasha classic from Brooklyn when it comes to the structure of the match. Charlotte's work on top was superb, really vicious work over Bayley's neck, and Bayley was excellent (as usual) as the fiery babyface. Fantastic match, if we get a better TV match this year, we're in for a treat. ****1/4 EDIT: goddamn botched the title. Meant to put RAW, not Royal Rumble lol.

This was a Luke Harper show. Randy Orton wasn't on Harper's level - his work on top was straight up boring, classic "headlock Orton" - things only picked up when Harper started his comeback and was flying all over the place. The 2nd half of the match was more action packed than the first one, that's for sure, but it wasn't really too good, because sadly Orton got a lot of that portion, too. I am glad to see Luke Harper shine in a singles match at a PPV though - his performance was real good. Overall this was good, but somewhat disappointing because they had a better match on SmackDown just few weeks ago - yes, I recommend everybody to check out their SD match from 01/24, because that indeed was better than this one in my eyes. ***

I gotta say that this one never fully clicked for me. There were stuff that I enjoyed; AJ Styles being the bumping & selling machine that he is, Baron Corbin coming in & destroying people, The Miz doing his Daniel Bryan shtick, Styles & Cena interactions when they + Wyatt were the final 3 - BUT in between those moments that I enjoyed, there were lots, and I mean LOTS of dull action that did nothing for me, which is why I can't rate this highly overall. Solid match, but far from the best Chamber match that I've seen. Great performance by Styles. **1/2

This kicked so much ass. This whole angle/match was soooo much fun - Lawler sending Doink to fight against Bret for him, Bret & Doink had a very good little match, and Lawler did the classic heel deal where he really isn't injured. Then it was time for some Memphis comes to WWF~! - and my god, they did that in the best way possible - epic brawling w/ a great shine for Bret, then Lawler working the heat in masterful fashion. Bret looked phenomenal in this, a badass babyface kicking the asses of Lawler & Doink - and then you get Jerry Lawler, the King of Memphis himself, being the legend that he is. What a match. ****1/2

Best singles match Marufuji has had in NOAH? Yep - pretty easily, too. This was a great David vs. Goliath match up; loved Taue just throwing Maru around while Maru tried to use his quickness to escape from the veteran's dominant work. Very well laid out bout. ***3/4

[2013-01-12-PWG-DDT4] Kevin Steen & El Generico vs Young Bucks
ShittyLittleBoots replied to Loss's topic in January 2013
Very good match. When it comes to indy farewell matches, it's nowhere near the level of matches like Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness or Chris Hero vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. -- but it was a very solid match between 2 great tag teams. Generico gave one last classic Generico babyface performance under that mask, he was a great FIP, and watching The Bucks work the heat on him while he sold his ass off was the highlight of the whole match for me. After Steen makes the hot tag, the match quality goes down a bit, but it still remained enjoyable. The post-match segment is great. ***1/2- 6 replies

In an age where it feels like the E just signs everyone from the indies, I am baffled why they haven't picked Candice up yet. She is so awesome. When it comes to laying out intergender matches there really isn't anyone better (that I know of) in the world right now - here she went & put on a legitimately super fun, really good match vs. Sami Callihan. Love watching Candice kick some ass, the violence party Super Dragon spot is something I'll always love. She mostly worked the match from underneath, and she was great at it. Callihan was really good as the one working on top, being angry at his smaller opponent almost getting the win, who he at the start did not take seriously. Very enjoyable bout. ***1/2

Typical New Japan main event 'epic'. The first half was completely forgettable, the work Naito did on Elgin's leg was sold pretty badly by Big Mike. The match only got interesting once they kicked into the finishing gear w/ them just throwing big bombs at each other, but even then, it wasn't very interesting. *
