  1. Man, I command you for taking that bold step in having the Road Warriors not moving past the first round. But I thought overall, it made for a very nice story to be told as to how the tournament seemingly was the Midnights to win until they met Barry Windham & Sting in the finals. Windham & Sting pretty much being low key throughout the tournament, making their way to beat Rude & Bundy in the finals. Very well done!
  2. That's absolutely true on the worldwide stage. Even today, Jacques Jr is probably the most famous Rougeau after his uncle Johnny in the province. Johnny Rougeau has the same God-like status in our sports culture than Maurice Richard has. Not that surprising, considering that Johnny Rougeau and Maurice Richard were close friends.
  3. "Gentil" et "méchant" are more used in Quebec than anything. "Beau" and "toc" definitely feels more French.
  4. Actually, I met Jacques at a Comic-Con a few years back and he couldn't have been nicer to everyone (He even signed two of my DVDs I had just bought a few moments earlier). The thing with Jacques is that he has a tendency to embellish the truth sometimes to look better than he actually is. This comes from the fact that as he grew up, given that his brother Raymond was the oldest and the first to break into the business at the age of 15, Raymond had all the attention from dad Jacques Sr and their illustrious uncle Johnny. It certainly affected Jacques in some way because all he ever wanted was for his dad and people to be proud of him. And I believe it certainly affected him in general, even after he retired from the business.
  5. It's like he wants to be Mark & Jay Briscoe's long lost relative or something.
  6. Nowadays, the mafia here isn't what it used to be, as the Hell's Angels have pretty much picked up where the mafia left off when it comes to organized crime. But we're always reminded of their existence whenever a mobster gets murdered every once in a while whenever New York says so (seems like NY mob is very influential over Montreal's historically, whether it's the Gambinos or Bonnanos). I've yet to see the episode on Dino; will probably do so tomorrow.
  7. No, but given Kairi's history of concussions (TLC anyone?), Nia could've given her another one. And God knows what would've happened next for Kairi afterwards if Vince thought she was too injury prone. They either need to rein Nia in or cut her loose because she's doing the exact same thing she accused Ronda Rousey of.
  8. He was on such a momentum following his feud with Cody before the world went to hell, hopefully he can get fixed.
  9. The Von Erichs are quite an example in themselves. That episode from last season was hard to watch, and not necessarily because of the recount about all of their tragedies.
  10. While I agree with Cornette that Generico was one helluva talker back then (he was working 2 different gimmicks in smaller promotions as Stevie McFly and Big Larry around the same time he started getting over in Quebec as El Generico), I just didn't really understand what was his obsession with having Generico to talk. He got so freaking over without doing so and had a connection with the crowd like seldom few could have back then. I'm always of the mentality of "don't fix what is broken" and I kinda feel like this is also part of a pattern with Corny during his run in ROH.
  11. March 26th, 1988 Hosted by Vince McMahon & Jesse "The Body" Ventura Up first, an interview on the platform with Mean Gene Okerlund and the WWF Tag Team Champions, Demolition, as they're set to defend their titles against the Fabulous Freebirds at Wrestlemania this Sunday. Ax says that they don't care where the Freebirds come from because Badstreet, USA is nothing compared to where he and Smash grew up. At the end of the day, they're just gonna be two other guys that they're gonna chop down and eviscerate. Smash adds that once they're done with the Freebirds, they'll ship them right back to Badstreet and both of their mommas won't be able to recognize 'em! Match #1 Randy "Macho Man" Savage beat Dayton Cullen with the Flying Elbow Drop After the match, there seems to be a commotion backstage as Hulk Hogan is found laid out, unconscious in the parking lot. While EMTs and officials check on Hogan, Brutus Beefcake is seen in discussions with WWF President Jack Tunney, telling him exactly what happened. What does this mean for Wrestlemania??? Mean Gene is up next with the Wrestlemania Control Center and hopes to have an update on the condition of Hulk Hogan for Wrestlemania, this Sunday. Mean Gene recaps the card, including the tournament and announces that The Islanders vs Rip Oliver & Bobby Jaggers have been added to the Wrestlemania card this weekend Match #2 Jerry Lynn beat Rip Oliver with a small package Match #3 The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers beat The Executioners with La Bombe Rougeau March 27th, 1988 Hosted by; Gorilla Monsoon & Lord Alfred Hayes Match #1 The Honky Tonk Man & Larry Zbyszko (w/Johnny V) beat John Tatum & WWF Intercontinental Champion Michael Hayes by DQ after Hayes is caught with Honky Tonk Man's guitar and smashing it on the head of Zbyszko! Match #2 Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) beat Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake after Bobby Heenan held Beefcake's foot. After the match, Beefcake chased Heenan around but was ambushed by Bunkhouse Buck & Nord the Barbarian! As Bockwinkel, Buck and Nord are doing a number on Beefcake, Heenan is seen giving a lump of money to Gary Hart, saying "That's for taking care of Hogan"....It doesn't take long for Gorilla Monsoon & Lord Alfred to figure out that it was Bobby Heenan & Nick Bockwinkel who were behind the attack on Hogan on Wrestling Challenge yesterday! In the back, Mean Gene Okerlund interviews Wahoo McDaniel, who is appalled by the tactics used by Bockwinkel & Heenan to get to their end. Wahoo says he doesn't know if both Hogan and Beefcake will be able to take part in the tournament at Wrestlemania but he's making it clear that he's willing to step in either of them's place if WWF President Jack Tunney allows him to be an alternate. Wahoo vows to get his hands on Heenan either way to avenge Hogan and Beefcake if he can! Match #3 Greg Valentine (w/Bobby Heenan) beat Dennis Condrey with the Figure-Four Leglock FINAL CARD FOR WRESTLEMANIA IV 16-MEN TOURNAMENT TO CROWN A NEW WWF CHAMPION *The status of both Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake for the tournament is yet to be known WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Michael P.S. Hayes (c) vs The Honky Tonk Man (w/Johnny V) WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Demolition (c) vs The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts) The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers vs Bunkhouse Buck & Nord the Barbarian (w/Gary Hart) The Islanders vs Rip Oliver & Bobby Jaggers
  12. They are. In fact, because of the pandemic, they have to delay their move to their new HQ in Stamford.
  13. Now, next week is the episode I was looking for the most in Season 2: the murder of Dino Bravo. Wonder if they'll mention right off the beat that his godfather was none other than Montreal mafia's godfather himself, Vic Cotroni.
  14. Well, if Jordynne Grace was there, the Knockouts title could be defended as well
  15. Apparently, Sonya Deville cut the promo of her life but I missed like half of the segment so I can't corroborate that.
  16. Yeah, I remember reading about Fink being bullied. Just doesn't make sense to me but alpha male mentalities like Vince enable that type of behaviour. See JBL.
  17. Great TV main event between the Rockers and Arn & Tully. The Rockers are definitely the dark horses for the Crockett Cup!
  18. I HATED Cole during that period of time. Like, if he had met him in the street, automatic kick in the balls. But with that said, I was gutted to learn this today. Fink was the voice of a generation. People saying that you can't hear a picture never saw one of The Fink. The absolute GOAT ring announcer.
  19. Watching Drake Maverick's reaction to his release almost made me cry. Feeling horrible for all those people getting cut today.
  20. Heath Slater just added to the list.
  21. @rovert suggested on Twitter that NJPW could use Karl Anderson as the US liaison for New Japan and that would definitely be a smart move, in my book. He could only work the NJPWofA shows without going to Japan.
  22. In the final years of the original ECW, while Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn were putting on clinics against each other, the other pairing you could count on to steal the show in the midcard was the rivalry between Super Crazy and the Japanese Buzzsaw, Yoshihiro Tajiri. This is the thread to highlight the epic showdowns that both wrestlers were involved in during their stint in ECW.
  23. If you're talking about the current Otis-Mandy angle, I think it's Sonya just thinking that Mandy deserved better than Otis so she tried to pair him with Dolph. At least, that's how I understood it.
  24. I'm using him right now, sorry.
  25. When you've got Rick Martel wrestling Terry Funk in the opening bout of your card, you know you've got a stacked card. Dibiase with the win, thanks to Ace Bob Orton, himself. I bet Jake will go after Orton in no time.
