I'm always down for a Von Erichs vs Freebirds match and this one is no different. Buddy Roberts is such a fantastic bumper in his prime as a Freebird and it definitely doesn't disappoint there. I also loved the finish with Buddy diving head first to hit Kerry Von Erich from behind with the helmet. Very creative and I wish we'd still see that kind of creativity today in tag matches or multi-men tag matches like this one. It's one of those matches where one team took advantage of the spotlight more than the other, in this case, the Fabulous Freebirds but it was well deserved in this one.

It's been a while since I've seen a majority of people genuinely psyched about a TNA/Impact PPV like they are for Slammiversary this Sunday. And rightfully so. People thought Don Callis & Scott D'Amore were crazy to undertake such a task to turn around the company as bad as it was when they got rid of Dixie Carter. But they are on the right track.

Yep, everything is rolling like a fine-tuned machine down in Mid-Atlantic. Nice debut for DJ Peterson, siding with Hot Property. Another fun tag team midcard feud ahead in the possible future. And Brad Rheingans is becoming my favorite interview in Mid-Atlantic. For someone who I don't remember being a great promo, you're doing great stuff to put him over. A lil' bit of Mr. Backlund before its time!

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
SirEdger replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Wow, I didn't know it was that serious for Rosemary. I thought she'd be cleared by fall or something. -
Yeah, I'm having a blast booking Matt Borne right now. I really wanted him to be the focus of my Bash event, thus why I didn't have Kernodle & the Samoans defend their titles. I was hesitant about who between Floyd Creatchman and Paul E. Dangerously I was gonna put with the Blond Outlaws but I figured that Goto & Saito would be better suited with Paul E than Floyd. So far so good. :)
-
Well, I had a blast booking Doug Somers as part of the Sensationals last year and I know exactly where to insert him right away. :)
-
No idea. I'm pretty sure he was in the 1986 Fresh Faces draft but I don't think that he was drafted at all, unless I missed a pick.

The end of the Loser Leaves AWA match hit me right in the feels. Totally what babyface 85 Mike Rotundo would've done IRL under those circumstances.
-
We all go sometimes through a rough patch but the beauty of this Project is that it can allow us to escape that rough patch by doing something we love. Glad to see you back and looking forward to see you progress in the game

Lutte releases Al Madril and will pick up Doug Somers.
-
No problem, it can happen to everyone!
-
Holy crap, seismic shift with Piper & Ace now the AWA World Tag Team Champions! This is huge and I think it's smart on your part. Because that way, you can keep Piper fully relevant as a major player, if not the top player in the AWA while keeping the focus on Ricky Steamboat as the AWA World Heavyweight Champion. It's a win-win for everyone involved in the promotion.

THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH: NORTHERN INCIDENT JULY 20TH, 1986 Palais des Sports, Sherbrooke, QC -Gino Brito beat Bugsy McGraw in 9:32 with the Figure Four Leglock -Tatsutoshi Goto (w/Paul E. Dangerously) beat Al Madril in 10:04 with the Backdrop Driver. Postmatch, Paul E. cut a lock of Madril's hair and gave it to Goto, teasing that Goto could be his representative on Friday night in the Hair vs Hair Match... -Armand Rougeau beat Mike Davis in 11:02 with a missile dropkick -Andre the Giant & Tom Prichard (w/Rock Riddle) beat the Killer Bees in 10:18 when Prichard pinned B. Brian Blair following an Andre double underhook suplex. -King Kong Bundy beat Brian Adias in 16:26 with the Avalanche. Sunny War Cloud interfered after the match, only to get Avalanched himself by Bundy!!! -Rick Martel & Satanico beat The Southern Ramblers in 12:30 after Martel pinned Rose following the Slingshot Splash -Los Infernales beat Richard Charland & Frenchy Martin in 15:35 after Morgan pinned Charland following a Spike Piledriver. One has to wonder how much Charland is looking forward for his regular tag team partner King Tonga to return to Lutte these days! NWA Canadian International TV Championship: "Maniac" Matt Borne beat "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (w/Precious & Eric Embry) in 52:54 to retain after a miscue from Eric Embry with the TV title belt. Originally, around the 40-minute mark, Andre The Giant came to the ring to headbutt Borne outside the ring but referee Luigi Macera caught him and threw him out of the ringside area, leaving Garvin, Precious & Embry scrambling for a back-up plan. Embry is all apologetic after the match, realizing he was responsible for Garvin not fulfilling his promise of beating Matt Borne on his first attempt!

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Literally everything in Impact Wrestling recently has been fun to watch. There's only the Desi Hit Squad I couldn't give a flying fuck about but Rohit Raju definitely has potential. Personally, I don't think it's the right time for Moose to win the title. I'd delay it to Bound For Glory instead. I don't think that Moose has had significant "feud wins" for me to believe he can be that top guy at the moment. Just roll with Austin Aries and I hope they can make Aries vs Impact down the road, one-on-one. My favorite feud so far is Su Yung vs Madison Rayne. Those vignettes in the past 2 weeks have been absolutely creepy, yet awesome. My guess is that Su Yung retains and they're gonna wait for Rosemary to be cleared to return and have her win the title afterwards. At least, that's what I hope. That card is legit stacked and no wonder they sold out the venue for this Sunday. The 5150 Street Fight has also the potential of being fantastic if Hernandez decides to toss Santana & Ortiz like rag dolls! -
Bob Backlund is somewhat of an odd fit in ECW but given that we're talking about the early years of the promotion, I think this could've worked IRL. Curious to see where this is going. And what a wild main event. Huge win for Sabu but at what cost?

Abdullah is perfect for Skandor Akbar. Exactly the kind of madman he needs to wreak a bit more havoc. It's amazing now how in about every territory Abdullah has a fitting manager with him: the Creatchmans in Lutte, Skandor in UWF, Gary Hart can fit the bill in WCCW, Paul Jones in Mid-Atlantic as well! I love how that 2nd hour also features some younger wrestlers as well. Great use of your TV timeslots every week!

NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling TV LIVE! July 19th, 1986 Sarnia, ON Quick and dirty results -The show starts with highlights from last night's event in Jaffray, BC when Andre the Giant seemed to align himself with Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry. Highlights of the Andre vs Raymond Rougeau match are shown as well. Raymond Rougeau gets to the broadcast booth. Raymond says he's not quite understanding yet what happened with Andre but he hopes to understand later why. Guy Hauray announces that Andre, Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry are scheduled for an interview later in the evening. Raymond Rougeau says he doesn't regret though stepping into the ring with Andre last night and he would do it all over again. He's then interrupted by King Kong Bundy. Bundy says Rougeau should keep his mouth shut and know his role as nobody can legit beat him. Raymond asks Bundy if Bad News Brown spent all his money. Bundy gets incensed and wants a piece of Raymond tonight. Raymond answers that he doesn't need any kind of financial reward to do it and he'll gladly wrestle him tonight! Guest Referee - Bruno Sammartino: NWA Canadian International Tag Team Champion Kokina Maximus (w/Paul E. Dangerously) beat Pirata Morgan in 15:04. After the match, Paul E. goes to the broadcast booth, still sporting the lock of hair he cut from Floyd Creatchman last week. Paul E brags about how he's always one step ahead of Floyd and that will always remain that way. Floyd Creatchman interrupts the interview and says he's not here to fight but rather to challenge Paul E to a special match. Both managers will pick one representative to fight next Friday in Vancouver with the loser getting his head shaved! Paul E. isn't sure but when Floyd eggs him a bit longer, Paul E. accepts the challenge but keeps his representative to himself and so does Floyd. Who will both men pick? -Brian Adias beat "Nightmare" Danny Davis (w/Floyd Creatchman) in 13:45. Once again, Sunny War Cloud tries to attack Adias but security steps in before he can reach Adias! NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Championship: Don Kernodle beat Pistol Pez Whatley in 23:40 to retain. Postmatch, Kernodle brags about how Jacques Rougeau is now a broken man and he can only blame himself. Never a Rougeau will touch that title again as long as he's still breathing! Steel Cage Match: Richard Charland & Frenchy Martin beat The Blond Outlaws (w/Paul E. Dangerously) in 36:33 when Richard Charland escaped the cage. The rules of the match was that only one man from a team was needed to escape the cage to win the match. After the match, The Blond Outlaws destroyed Frenchy Martin in the ring, beating him to a bloody pulp. Paul E returned to the broadcast booth and said that wins or losses don't matter to the Blond Outlaws. What matters is that Goto & Saito are destroying wrestlers left and right every night. Tatsutoshi Goto will destroy someone else tomorrow night at the Great American Bash: Northern Incident in Sherbrooke! NWA Canadian International TV Championship: "Maniac" Matt Borne beat Jumpin Jim Brunzell in 20:42 to retain. After the match, Jimmy Garvin, Eric Embry & Andre the Giant strut to the broadcast booth while Matt Borne remains in the ring. First, Andre is asked why he chose to align with Garvin & Embry, to which he only answers "None of your business". Jimmy Garvin takes the lead and says that he basically wanted to make sure that everyone realized he wasn't joking last week. Jimmy Garvin says he only needs one shot at Matt Borne to beat him and this will happen tomorrow night at the Great American Bash. As for Andre, Garvin says that he was cheated by the promotion when they asked him to forfeit the Canadian International Heavyweight Championship because he had fulfilled all of his dates rather than allow him to take the title with him. Garvin says everyone knows that Frank Valois did this out of spite against Vince McMahon and the WWF. Jimmy hints that he might not be the only one who thinks that Andre has been cheated. Tomorrow night, there won't be no cheating as Jimmy Garvin will walk out of the Bash as the new TV Champion. -The Southern Ramblers beat The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques & Armand) in 9:05 when Randy Rose pinned Armand Rougeau Before the main event, the broadcast team runs down the card for tomorrow night's Great American Bash card in Sherbrooke: GREAT AMERICAN BASH: NORTHERN INCIDENT JULY 20TH, 1986 Palais des Sports, Sherbrooke, QC MAIN EVENT NWA CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TV CHAMPIONSHIP Maniac Matt Borne (c) vs Jimmy Garvin The Killer Bees vs Andre the Giant & Tom Prichard (w/Rock Riddle) Richard Charland & Frenchy Martin vs Los Infernales The Southern Ramblers vs Rick Martel & Satanico Brian Adias vs King Kong Bundy Mike Davis vs Armand Rougeau Al Madril vs Tatsutoshi Goto Bugsy McGraw vs Gino Brito -In the main event, King Kong Bundy beat Raymond Rougeau in 45:59. Same formula than the previous night in Jaffray, with Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry showing up early in the match to distract - and interfere in Raymond's business. Only this time, Andre shows up late in the match. The end of the match comes as Andre climbs on the ring apron to choke Raymond while Garvin & Embry distract the referee. That allows Bundy to charge Raymond with the Avalanche and get the pin. Postmatch, Andre, Garvin & Embry are about to strike again when Jacques & Armand Rougeau run in, chairs in hand. Andre stands his ground but Garvin & Embry convince him to back off. The show ends with Jacques & Armand checking on Raymond. À LA SEMAINE PROCHAINE SI DIEU LE VEUT! -
Just watched this match today. This match seems to be forgotten because on that same card, I believe we had Bret Hart vs Owen Hart for the WWF Championship (which was billed as the final match between the two if I remember correctly). What I like about this match is that we see a lot of unexpected stuff like Razor Ramon playing the babyface in peril rather than the shorter 1-2-3 Kid who's usually a natural fit in that position. The spot with Shawn accidentally superkicking Diesel leaving Diesel knocked out cold during a full 5 minutes was also very well played. It just sets up the desperation that Shawn is in, knowing that he can't seemingly count on his partner to bail him out of this situation and Razor/Kid pulling all the stops but Shawn's in full-on survival mode and some fantastic drama right until the end when Diesel finally comes through and delivers the big boot. Again, it's amazing that this match flies under the radar so much. But then again, as short-lived as Action Zone was, they still delivered some very fun matches.

www.dailymotion.com/video/x3x9jha I just loved every match these two teams had in 1999. Bubba & D-Von were pretty much on their way out to WWF close to that point but they sure did look Spike & Balls very good. I noticed a lot of similar spots in many of their matches (Bubba striping his face with Spike's blood; the flaming table finish; the Sign Guy Dudley interference) but the crowd is so hot for every one of those spots. Bubba comes off like a complete psycho in those series of matches. Great stuff. Also, since I'm at it, I'll ask; what's with Joel Gertner's face? He seems to be all bandaged up or something and I don't remember why exactly.

I'd be shocked if Madison Rayne is in the tournament, given she's working for Impact Wrestling but who knows. But seeing Vanessa Kraven's name in this leak makes me smile. I hope she goes on a tear if she's in the tournament.

Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling July 1986

Yeah, sorry for the lack of details on that card. Fixed the original post as I added more details. :) And as for the main event, that's why I involved Garvin & Embry in the process. I knew they'd be able to buy some time to Andre in the middle of the match and have Raymond get that major babyface heat by constantly getting involved and allowing Andre to work a minimum. By going this long, I also wanted to perhaps let the fans hope that somehow Armand & Jacques would show up to even the playing field and allow Raymond to score a major win but alas, that wasn't the case. As for the rest, all I can say is that Garvin & Embry might not be the only ones who'll want to get the services of Andre to make a statement -

July 18th, 1986 Jaffray, BC -NWA Canadian International Tag Team Champion Prince Alofa Fatu (w/Paul E. Dangerously) beat Bruce Hart in 20:55 -Pistol Pez Whatley beat Randy Rose in 13:56 GAEA Attraction: Lioness Asuka beat Crane Yuu -B. Brian Blair vs Kerry Brown never happened as Andre the Giant entered the ring and attacked both men!!! People are stunned as they see Andre showing a mean streak they had never seen before. We can see Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry following behind, all giddy, and they join Andre in the ring. However, all 3 Rougeau Brothers rush the ring to chase off Garvin & Embry. Raymond Rougeau takes the mic and says he doesn't know what the hell happened between Andre and Garvin/Embry but he's gonna take care of this right away. He wants a piece of Andre in the main event tonight! Andre accepts and says he'll see Raymond in the main event. -The Rougeau Brothers (Jacques & Armand) beat Al Madril & Chris Candido in 12:13 with La Bombe Rougeau on Madril Special Challenge: One Man Gang (w/Floyd Creatchman) beat King Kong Bundy in 12:08 after Floyd Creatchman distracted King Kong Bundy long enough for the Gang to hit his own version of Avalanche! -Rick Martel beat Satanico in 4:49. The match seemed to be cut short because of Martel's lingering injuries but he was able to finish the match and walk out on his own. -The Nightmares (w/Floyd Creatchman) beat Brian Adias & NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Champion Don Kernodle in 18:18 when Ken Wayne pinned Kernodle. Kernodle was left to fend off both Nightmares alone when Sunny War Cloud ran in to attack Brian Adias! -Andre the Giant (w/Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry) beat Raymond Rougeau in 38:29 with a double underhook suplex. Lots of involvement from Jimmy Garvin & Eric Embry in this one, buying some time for Andre when he was seemingly in trouble. Referee Luigi Macera gave a lot of leeway to the match as Raymond spent as much time if not more fighting with Garvin & Embry inside and outside the ring, making this an unofficial 3-on-1 Handicap Match. -
I don't know a lot about that era of joshi wrestling so this will allow me to discover even more how badass all those women were. :)

That reaction we saw from the girl when Orton was twisting Jeff Hardy's earlobe? I had that exact verbatim reaction while watching at home.
