FINALLY, we get to see Col. DeBeers. You can do so much with that character! And great introduction for Sabu!
-
I agree with Kevin about the Heavenly Bodies vibe with the Southern Ramblers! And I'll be damned if I couldn't be more pumped for Backlund vs Rheingans in Mid-Atlantic!

No problem, Gene. Take care of your personal stuff, first.

It might be more bad luck than anything in Snuka's case. I think that with the trades that spaldoni made by sending the Horsemen to WWF, now he has much more suitable opponents to work with Snuka, in my estimation. I agree that some particular workers are harder to book for various reasons but it's not totally impossible. As for Jimmy Snuka, there *might* be something coming up for him in Lutte. I heard through the grapevines that Paul E. Dangerously has taken a liking to the Superfly... -
Fun main event between Ted Dibiase and Rocky Johnson. The Soul Man proving to be a hot commodity for the Mid-Atlantic territory!
-
Don Kernodle heel turn officially completed! Although, I have to point out that Kernodle's title win happened 4 days after he threw Jacques Rougeau off the scaffold. But you sure can work around that in the promo itself
-
Classic Horsemen promo. The kind I would've truly seen happen in 1986. As for the TV title tournament, my gut is telling me that Curt Hennig is winning the whole thing. I don't know who'll be on the other side of the bracket but I could see a Bad News Brown or a Tully Blanchard.

Added.

Nope, haven't seen this one so I'll take it!
-
Holy crap, just saw who the Road Warriors are wrestling at the Memorial Day Event. Abdullah and anybody are more than suitable challengers!
-
Love seeing the pairing of Brad Armstrong & Jeff Jarrett. Might be the best guy to guide Jarrett through this thing.

For you, Grimmas, I picked Matt Sydal vs Ricochet from EVOLVE 32. If you have seen it, let me know, I have a few backups in case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DlbKv4XEQo

Not as much in Canada than in America. Usually, the evil foreigner gimmick used was Soviets, Japs & Germans - obviously, World War II stuff. The circumstances just dictated the use of the American flag here -

I see what you mean. No offense taken whatsoever. I don't think that we necessarily always see the word "upset" used in the same way. Perhaps you think it's more suited to a flash victory; in my definition of the word, I applied it as Steve Simpson was the underdog heading into the match with LeDuc. Tomato, tom-ah-to, basically -
I'm wondering if Hogan won't be tempted to interfere in the main event of Satruday Night Main Event...

Well, I was one of your readers and I'm pretty thrilled about its return!

Dangerously) in 7:47 to retain *Adrian Adonis (unsurprisingly) didn't make weight before the start of the match so the title shot was null & voided but Adonis still offered half of his purse to Benoit to put his title on the line anyway! NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Championship: Don Kernodle beat Jacques Rougeau at 36:03 after using the American Flag to hit Jacques in the ribs. Fearful of his brother's health, brother Raymond threw in the towel! - TITLE CHANGE!!! -
My review of Mongolian Stomper vs Dick Slater sent to me by Matt D: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/34448-dick-slater-vs-mongolian-stomper7982-houston-wrestling/

Thanks to Matt D for sending me this match to watch in the Secret Santo thread. That's a treat for me because a) I had never seen The Mongolian Stomper in action and I also had never seen Don Carson as a manager in action so that was quite a learning experience to me. I usually hate stalling in a match but in this occasion, I really loved it in the first stages of the first fall because Carson and Stomper did anything and everything you can do without getting too much on the crowd's nerves and taking their interest away from the match. The first fall is really slow with lots of mat work and I had to rewatch a second time before the start of the second fall because I missed where Slater got busted open the first time. Stomper gets more aggressive on the 2nd fall and works on Slater's cut right until Slater gets the momentum and picks up the win with the inside cradle. The 3rd fall was really fun as both men go all out, especially Stomper who doesn't wait for the end of the rest period to attack Slater. Slater going all out in this one and for the first time in the match, Don Carson gets involved physicall twice in the span of about a minute. Eventually, the 3rd fall ends in a DQ as some wrestler jumped on Stomper. I was confused a bit because I expected Stomper to get the 3rd fall by DQ but seems like the ref decided to DQ Stomper instead, maybe for Carson's interference. Overall, I liked it a lot, especially since I hadn't seen a whole lot of Dick Slater's work as a babyface. Gonna interest me to watch even more of everyone involved in this one. *** 1/4 stars for this one.

All the events of the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup make it even more interesting now that the UWF World Title is vacant. So many contenders who can step up and take that title. I'd keep a close eye on Jerry Lawler and Eddie Gilbert as my favorites.

Finally, Furnas & LaFon paired together. At least it's the first time I notice it. Always loved that combo. Also was a fan of Armand Rougeau & LaFon/Kroffat IRL in Lutte.
