What the fuck is up with this crowd? This match rules and people are fucking DEAD.
-
I actually felt the total opposite on that first statement. They were pretty subdued in their spots, as opposed to many MitB/TLC/Ladder matches. The spots with the ladders felt more like means than ends on themselves. Legit think this is the feud of the year and there's nothing really close.
-
I think that the expectations of every single ladder match being an overblown spotfest might hurt this match for some, but this is actually a great match that happens to have a ladder in it.
-
He almost won at Wrestlemania and would win if not because he was gloating about it, too.
-
Chinese commentary! That's actually kinda cool. Also, expecting this to be the best match of an already solid show.
-
Short and sweet match between Wyatts and Slater/Rhyno. Some nice storyline touches too. Would love to see a Rhyno/AJ and Miz/Slater feuds, tho
-
I think that what caused the table to not break at HiaC was the weird angle it was set up. I believe that if Alexa does her twisting moonsault to a table prone Becky, the table might break, but who knows. Just hoping for the best.

I'm thinking this will be a very solid show, bordering on great. If Miz/Ziggler revolves around Miz just destroying Dolph's leg with the ladder, it's already amazing. Not sure if they should change the title, though. Miz has to keep his momentum going. Curious about what will Ellsworth do tonight, too.
-
But which top belt is he actually going to take, if they are planning on giving him one more title run? I mean, I think it would make more sense if Cena got the WWE Title from AJ, and Goldberg going after the Universal Title would mean he would take on the likes of Owens, Rollins and such, which I am really not too high on.

Gallows and Anderson are the worst guys in the current roster that managed to have enjoyable matches (one of their last encounters with New Day, at CoC if memory doesn't fail me). It's weird because even in WK10 their match was pretty weak IMO - not worse than the 6-Men Tag, that's for sure - so I'm split between them being broken down when arriving on WWE or if they never had anything special to begin with. Gallows had some very nice matches as Festus, but it seems to me that his character also helped him deliver more, be more brutal and violent.

The NBA Playoffs are pro wrestling

Now that Russell Westbrok is TDs as his average, and is carrying OKC on his back, is he comparable to someone like Onita, who was FMW's biggest draw and made that promotion work for as long as it did? My territory knowledge is pretty limited, but is there any example of a promotion being held together by one big name alone? Also, would Kevin Durant moving to the Warriors be comparable to Ric Flair going to WWF in '92? -
"Strong Style" now is much more about branding than an actual style of professional wrestling. I would even go and say that nowadays, NJPW and WWE are as close in terms of style as they have ever been. Is WWE Strong Style too?
-
Y'know, it's just a shame The Drifter kinda sucks in the ring, because the heat he gets is just amazing. I hope he gets to keep them boos coming if he gets called up.
-
Give them time. When they finally give them a serious program for the tag titles, they are going to be over as fuck. Worked with Slater/Rhyno and now with Orton/Wyatt. Also, Gallagher is getting over pretty quickly, which doesn't really surprise me in any way. He can talk, has a different look, a different style, can do comedy and be more serious. I would take him over ZSJ any day.

At least they are making Swann a big deal. He's been the star of the division and alongside Cedric, the saving graces of it. I'm not sure who is laying out those matches, but they surely ain't doing the CW any favors. They are just normal guys with half the screen time and 40 pounds less. It's very underwhelming. Also I have to wonder, Triple H is coming back at Roadblock right? I mean, they haven't addressed him at all in quite a while and it's not like he didn't attack Roman either....
-
Didn't watch it yesterday, watching it right now. I just gotta say: I have no more time for Owens. As a wrestler, as a promo, as anything. He had something different but he's fallen hard after the Cena program - which itself was not exactly the best thing ever - and his title reign is absolute shit. At this point I just want Roman to pull a Lashely and get all the belts.
-
Well, isn't he in the right place, then? It could be argued that he was way too green to even be featured in TV matches, buuuut NXT's main thing was to be a developmental place, which I kinda what bothers me the most right now. In 2014-15 they had this very nice balance between developmental talent, guys that had little exposure in the indies and relatively big indy names, and after Finn lost his NXT title, that balance seemed to have been completely lost. Of course the call-ups hurt the show - the Womens division lost pretty much everyone, to the point where not even green people like Carmella and Dana were left - but the over reliance on established names kinda made the product sour on me. For instance, I don't really think that Aries was adding much, nor was Roode before he had his Glorious gimmick - which is very, very entertaining. Strong being there also makes not much sense to me. It seems that they are slowly getting back on track - not sure about Nakamura and Joe still being on the main roster, though - with people like No Way Jose, Tino Sabbatelli, Riddick Moss and Heavy Machinery being built as bigger deals. The women's division, who suffered the biggest blow, has the biggest disparity possible. Asuka is untouchable, and I'm not really sure calling Kairi Hojo and/or Io Shirai benefits the division in the long term.

Balor is not going to return in time, is he? Roman maybe gets to feud with Braun? Really wouldn't mind them having a program for the US Title. Also Miz feuding with Zayn for real? Probably a 8 way ladder match or something. There's also going to be a CW Title match somewhere, I'd think. Give us Cedric vs Metalik and I'm a happy man. Maybe with Swann added to the mix too

I don't think any style, by itself, can be bad for business. The AA has been kicked out of for how long, exactly? Yet Cena still is one of the biggest stars the industry has today, and one of the biggest in history. On the other hand, people like Owens/Rollins, who are now the biggest examples of "indy wrestlers" in a mainstream setting, are often using this finisher spamming, infinite kickout style and they aren't having much reaction. It might be more about what said wrestler does, how they perform in the style at hand that the style itself. I find it funny though, how in the same company we have moves like AA and the RKO, which have been so unprotected, and moves like Reigns' Spear and Miz's SCF, which are actually very well protected.

I like this match so damn much. It's, in my opinion, the best singles match Finn ever had in NXT/WWE, and actually one of his best matches overall. It's simple, short, and yet so effective. The story is very clear and it starts very quickly - Roman's power is immense, with him just throwing Finn across the ring with ease. Balor, on the other hand, has to resort with quickness and a bit of leg work to keep a safe distance. Not only that, but it also puts a guy who was publicly shamed by his superiors - Steph called Reigns a loser after getting pinned by Ambrose at Battleground - against this plucky guy fresh off NXT. Reigns also showed a little more vicious side in this match too, with more corner clotheslines, foot chokes, and just using his size advantage to it full potential, kinda like what he did against AJ earlier that year to wonderful results. Despite all the bombs Reigns throwed at Finn, including a dope double powerbomb, he couldn't get the pin, leading to a good shot of him almost laughing, as if to recognize Balor was actually tougher than imagined. Afterwards, he is surprised by Balor and is pinned by a Coup de Grace. Post-match, Reigns is interviewed, saying he respects Finn and wants to meet him again after he gets the Universal Title. If anything could solidify Balor as a big star, or at least someone to pay attention to, this was it. He looked way more of a bigger star in this match, with a leather jacket and as the underdog than with years of facepaint and theatrical entrances.

[2016-10-30-WWE-Hell In A Cell] Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins
KawadaSmile replied to GOTNW's topic in October 2016
What really bothered me, over ridiculous wacky anctics and no selling fighting spirit bullshit, was that the story going to this match is that Seth Rollins' back is fucked after an Apron Powerbomb on the previous Raw. He even came to the ring with the kinesio tape and all that. However, that was pretty much ignored in this match, and it's really ridiculous when you compare it against Sasha/Charlotte in the same card, which actually had lowerback selling. Rollins should not deadlift a guy who's nearly 300lbs like it's nothing. Sell your fucking back. Jesus Christ.- 4 replies

IMO, having clear face/heel dynamics wouldn't award the match another 1/4* or something, but if it doesn't have that dynamic, or plays it backwards - like some big WWE main roster matches do - then it would get that 1/4* detracted from it. It's just that the match had everything it should have, with near perfect execution.

Braun is such a gift from the gods. What did we do to deserve such greatness? Zayn finally getting one up on Braun is going to incite a very large pop if done right.
-
As much as the New Day puts on good matches regularly, I just cannot stand them winning anymore when their act is stale as shit.
-
Goldberg might be taking Lesnar's role as the final boss, or at least as the biggest badass around, 'cept he is a good guy. Part of me actually wishes he has one more title run, to be honest.
